Days Like this

Charles' Pov

I remain optimistic, despite the horrible day this started out as, thanks in part to my "precious" mentor. I glance at him from the corner of my eyes to see him enjoying the sights.

I ignore him as I try to compose myself to the beginning of what I hope to be a beautiful day. I look up towards mother, and she looks down at me.

The days when we were together dwindling. Though despite the absolute joy of a time I had, there's no exchanging the happiness when I'm with my mother.

I nod to myself, gripping her hand, making sure she never lets go. She softly smiles, and I grin back. We continue like this.

I felt genuinely loved. It was a feeling I never really felt before, and I wish it were always like this. We continue to walk like this, the atmosphere sweet and serene.

Unfortunately, there's a "mentor" giggling in his hand. I shake my head, readying myself, knowing he'll be a nuisance through the day.

Mother and I continued to walk, and I ask her a question about where we're going. She answered excitedly, "We'll be having breakfast," She continued happily, "With the rest of the family."

I curiously looked at her and spoke. "Is it princess Adelaide?" She smiled brightly and tilted her head cutely. "Yes, has my baby met her?"

I nod. In return, she picks me up in a hug and excitedly said. "My baby is getting more friends." I hug her neck and giggle, and she giggles back as we continue walking like this.

The pair of mother and son stop in front of a door, it opened with a knock presenting a round table. The table where the royal family sat, chatting while enjoying their breakfast.

The pair's entrance captures the attention of the room's occupants. Both Julius and Aron wave excitedly, beckoning him to sit with them on King Aron's side.

Charles looks towards Ann, waiting for her approval. She nods, aware of the growing relationship between brothers.

The brothers sat together, as well as their mothers. All the while, the King watched the lovely sight, nodding to himself in satisfaction.

Chatting and enjoying the company, the family had breakfast in such a jovial mood. An hour passes like this, and waves of goodbye are shared. The family prepares to leave, ready to tackle the day.

Charles' Pov

I wave goodbye as my mother held me in her arms. I look towards her and asks, "What are we going to do today? Mama."

She smiles. "You'll be spending time with mama," She rubbed her cheek with mine, then she kisses me on the cheek. "You'll be with me as we fix your birthday party."

I look at her with sparkles in my eyes, excited to know that the coming birthday will be one of great celebration.

We continue to walk for minutes until we stop in front of what I could only assume be the ballroom. The door is guarded by men, as the sounds of excitement can be heard resonating from the door.

The guards push the door of significant size for me to see the beautiful decoration—the hanging chandeliers sparkling in luxury, the countless tables situated everywhere in the expansive room.

A room I could only describe to be that of immense beauty. While I look around, I notice a throne situated in the middle of a long table, a place where it shall capture the occupants' attention.

I sigh in contentment, still amazed by the beautiful sight. Mother herself giggles at my reaction. As we stood there, a voice called to us.

"Milady, Milord do you wish to check the preparations?" Faye, the closest woman I have next to my mother.

I smile brightly at her and excitedly called. "FAYE!" I try and get closer, noticing this mother lets me down.

I run to Faye and hug her dress, a dress that looks just as sharp as her. She smiled softly at me and rubbed my hair. "It has been a while, Milord."

I nod fervently as she softly giggles. I sulkily spoke at her, "It's been almost a week," She lowers herself to my height.

Faye spoke softly and raised her hand at her heart. "Apologies, I have been quite busy, preparing for Milords birthday."

It's always beautiful to see such a sharp woman give out her soft smiles. She always did take care of me when my mother was too busy to be with me.

I smiled brightly at her and spoke childishly, "It's ok, I just missed Faye." Faye hugs me as she coos. "You say that but I hear milord has been enjoying himself."

I excitedly nod as Faye stood back up, and I excitedly told her the adventures and excursions I had with the rest of my family.

Mother, with her teasing smile, scoops me off the ground. "Now, now, if two of you get closer, Mommy might get jealous."

Faye shakes her head, beckoning us around the ballroom. "Since you are already here. how about I show you my work." She fixes her glasses, looking around proudly.

A voice exclaimed, "And quite a great work it is." The three of us look towards the voice, and I see an old woman with green greying hair and elegant beauty. She stands at the door admiring the ballroom.

Faye bows, "Your Highness Elaine, It was all thanks to your help." Lady Elaine looks towards me and waves with a smile, "Don't mind it, after all, all of it is for my grandson."

The words answer all the questions I had as I wave excitedly back, knowing who she is. She smiles and waves goodbye. "Now, don't let me hold you up." Faye nods and beckons us forward.

So that was grandma, were my last thoughts before, mother excitedly brought me around the ballroom.

As we walked around, she showed us the tables covered with finely done fabric, the chairs sculpted in articulate beauty, and the walls painted in gold, filled with paintings of magnificent artistry.

In the end, Faye proudly showcased everything required for a ceremony as big as this. Mother and I left with us waving our goodbyes.

Mother looks at me softly, "Where else will baby want to go?" I lovingly smile at her. "Wherever mama goes I go!" I squeeze my hand together, showing my excitement.

She coos, "Ooooh I love you, sweetie."

I answer back happily with a huge smile

"I love you too, Mama."
