Chapter 6: How To Handle the Bit

Chapter 6: How To Handle the Bit

Spirit kept his gaze averted from Tsuki having revealed Hana to them. Gulping as he tried not to take any risky glances. He primarily directed his gaze to the point he could just see Tsuki from the corner of his eyes.

"H-hey Tsuki, would you mind not flashing every hormonal teen in the room?" Spirit stammered, trying his best to keep his gaze from peering too far at their collective friend.

Tsuki upon realizing what she'd done. Quickly let go of Hana's skirt, and letting it fall back to it's original position.

"S-sorry, but her bite is on her thigh, it was just hidden by her skirt. So yeah.. that's why I lifted her skirt like that." She stuttered embarrassed at what she had done.

"N..no need to worry about me guys...I'll be fine...I'm just exhausted from all the running for our lives that we had been doing...there's no telling if being bitten by one of those who were infected is the true reason for it spreading." Hana spoke weakly as she tried to keep herself standing, as she almost fell to the ground. Yui looped her arm around the young girl keeping her aloft. Her continued silence spreading through the room like a miasma.

Her mind was abuzz with all the information that was dancing through her mind. The information that meant that her friend was going to die. How does someone even cope with that? Yui had known Hana almost all her life, and most times were usually paired up in the same homeroom and classes together. Even spending several summers together.

And now, Yui's gaze couldn't leave the floor, no matter how much she wanted to look at the others. The overwhelming sense of pain coursing through her, emotionally tearing her up inside so badly that she just couldn't stand it.

"Lets...lets just go ahead and take her to one of the rooms so she can rest. Kuro, Kazui. Can you see if there is anything to make some tea with?" Dylan spoke up after a moment, his voice cutting through the air. Bringing most of them back to reality. Dylan could see the pain written on everyone's faces, and the last thing he wanted was them to witness their friend die a painful death. Though there was a chance she could fight it off, since nothing he had heard had mentioned that it was a direct death sentence. Maybe she had a chance for survival, maybe this was like any other infection the human body encountered and just needed the time to fight it off. Maybe...just maybe.

Nodding silently Kazui practically dragged Kuro back into the storage room as they began to search it for any kind of herbal tea that they could find in the love hotel.

"Should we...prepare some words...in case the worse...happens..?" Kuro asked as he was searching a shelf, which was filled mainly with boxes that had several different kinds of contraceptives within. Frowning at that Kuro would toss them onto the ground, not paying any heed to them. Though the slight humor of it was almost enough to make him chuckle.

"What words can we prepare Kuro?! Hana was bit by one of those things, and here we are searching for fucking tea! I mean what's the point in doing this shit?! To make her feel some form of comfort?!" Kazui roared out with raw emotion that had obviously been eating at him for a while.

Kuro stood there awkwardly listening to the words that Kazui had to say, what could he do? What could he say? He didn't know. So he just stood there in silence as his friend started to further break down in tears. It was evident how much he cared about Hana and the state that she was in, and he couldn't fault any of them for the tears that they wanted the shed. Even Kuro was fighting to keep his tears in check.

"Why are you sending them to get tea?" Spirit questioned solemnly as he watched Yui try her hardest not to break with tears streaming down her cheeks. His heart hurt for his friends, hurt for all of them. But he was smart enough to know what Dylan was doing. He just wanted to hear him say it. No matter how hard it was to say.

"Not everyone has to watch a friend die. If she is going to die that is, there's still a chance she could fight it off. Tsuki, I don't want you to be near it either, same goes for you Spirit."

"There's no way you're going to force me to stand by and not try to help her. Even though you're the oldest amongst us all. Me and Yui have both known her the longest, please. It would be better for her if both of us were able to be by her side. Nurturing her back to health."

"I-i'm not gonna just stand around and look pretty!" Tsuki spoke up waiting for Spirit to finish what he was saying. Even though initially she wanted to make it known to the group that Hana been injured. She hadn't realized just what it truly had meant at the time. "I want to help her too!"

"Seriously?! All you're worried about is whether or not you're being useful?!" Yui finally spoke up, her voice breaking with the unshed tears she kept held back. It took every ounce of strength within her to not even let the tears flow.

"Y-yui thats n-not what I-"

"Just shut up and go find something to do that'll make you feel useful that doesn't concern Hana!" Yui continued on with her tirade before turning her anger towards both Spirit and Dylan. "Both of you help me bring Hana to a room now!"

Gulping at the woman's anger, the two of them looked at each other. Before doing what she instructed them to do. Without a further word.

Spirit walked with both Dylan and Yui as they guided the weakening Hana to a room, setting her down into a bed. The three of them looked at each other, with looks that showed just how tired they all were along with the emotional weight the situation had on them all.

The only thing that hung in the silence between them all was the one burning question the three of them all had on their minds. Who would watch her continue to decline?

"I'll take care of her. Whether than means having to feed her, give her something to drink or give her a wet towel. You guys need to rest, I'll wake you guys if something comes up. Okay?" Spirit was the first to speak up, catching the two off guard.

"Are...you sure you want to do this?" Dylan questioned, casting a glance to Yui who's tears were now streaming down her cheeks. Looking at Spirit with almost a thankful look in her eyes.

"Yeah, i'm sure. Just take the next few hours to rest, and I'll let you guys know when anything happens. Now just go rest. I'll take care of her." Spirit spoke his voice just barely breaking as he spoke.
