Chapter 2: Inside the Hotel

Chapter 2: Inside the Hotel

Standing within the lobby of the hotel. The group all covered in all manner of bodily fluids. And other extremities. Taking a collective breath. The group allowed themselves to be overtaken by the moment of calm. Each of them collapsing in either a chair or on the floor. For Spirit. It was the floor.

He sat there allowing his mind to dance through the events that had just transpired. All of it happened so quickly. And he didn't even have the time to process any of that. Even when they weren't in danger.

He just hadn't allowed himself to give into his emotions. Or was that just because of the shock of everything that had gone on?

Whatever the reason. He couldn't tell. As his body ached and throbbed. And the momentary rest they were graced with, being enough for him to start to doze off. He didn't dare to do so. He needed to stay awake. He couldn't allow himself to sleep, not when anything could happen at a moments notice.

"Here." Yui handed a bottle of water to Spirit, which succeeded in drawing him out from his mind. Giving her a small smile. He graciously accepted the bottle taking just a few small sips from the bottle. Just enough to satiate his thirst.

Closing the bottle he offered it back to her. Which she denied indicating towards the hall. Where Kazui and Kuro were ransacking the supply room. "There's more than enough for us to each have water of our own. And some snacks to fill us back with some energy." She continued. Sitting next to him on the ground. Looking towards Tsuki and Hana. Who had both given in to their exhaustion having fallen asleep.

Yui was Spirit's senior of two years. She wore her black hair in a short bob. And wore their schools spring uniform. Which was perfect for the heat the city typically experienced during the spring and summer seasons. Though the once pristine uniform, was not stained with blood. That surely couldn't wash out.

"You should get some sleep as well Yui. I have enough energy to keep watch while the others scout out the hotel." Spirit spoke in a tone that betrayed just how tired he said he wasn't. But no matter how tired he was. He was going to fight through it and try his best. For them all.

Moving through the second floor of the Love Hotel. Dylan walked through the hallway. Which held flickering lights. As the city's power grid struggled to continue working. With everything that had been going on within the city. He was honestly surprised that everything was still working at all.

Maybe it was just their luck. Being inside a building that still had some modicum of power left within it.

Dylan stopped where he stood as he heard a noise come form one of the rooms closest to him. Almost as if on some kind of queue for the universe to show just how unsafe they truly were. Gripping the door handle in his hand. Shaking as he felt his fear beginning to rise up once more. Was this a good idea? If he left the door closed. Maybe whoever was in it wouldn't bother them. It would leave them be. For better or for worse. As long as they didn't attract the attention of it. Whatever it was.

Taking a deep breath. He felt every single nerve he had on end. As the coolness of the building was belied by his fear. By his uncertainty as he felt himself beginning to sweat harder than he had out in the city streets.

Deciding in his mind he needed to do this. He pulled the door open. And seeing what was inside the room made his blood freeze.

"We found some instant noodles!" Kazui cheered in pure bliss walking out his arms bursting with cups of instant ramen. "We hit the jackpot!"

Yui and Spirit looked at each other in a moment of silence. Taking in the sight of their friend and just how wacky he was being. And before they knew it. The two of them were laughing. Laughing at the absurdity of their friends glee.

Spirit at first didn't even know how to initially react to the moment. But he was grateful that some of his friends were clowns. And that they took the good moments when they came their way. And he was glad a good moment came when it did. It was almost enough to make him forget of the chaos he had been witnessing over the last couple of hours. Travelling through the massive city on foot. He didn't even know how far they had gotten. Having to find routes that involved them running from the poor people who couldn't find anywhere safe to reside and had ended becoming infected with the disease.

"Come on Kazui give us some ramen." Spirit said holding out his hand as his friend tossed two to him. One for him, and the other for Yui. And following behind was Kuro who filled their ramen cups with some hot water that enabled them to cook it. Something told them that this would be the best source of food they would have during this period in time.

"Where was that water from?" Tsuki asked rubbing her eyes as she was waking up from her momentary slumber. Holding her cup of ramen in her own hand. Waiting for the hot water to cook the noodles.

"It was from the tap. Seems like we still have water for the moment." Kuro explained in a quiet tone.

That seemed to get the attention of all of the girls who all seemed to have the same idea. And why that idea crossed their minds. The boys didn't comprehend at the time. The girls had thought about proper hygiene care. Especially since they were all covered in some form of blood, and or other fluids that none of them would rather think about.

And for all they knew. This would be the last chance any of them had to take a bath. So they all took it.
