Experience Transfer

Miguel felt like he was being sucked into a blackhole as his body was flying through the astral planes like a broken kite. But suddenly a voice spoke in a cold feminine voice. "Initiating Experience Transfer protocol. Inheritance detected. Loading Frank Moses Experience Bundle." As soon as the voice ceased, his consciousness disappeared.

But after a few seconds, he woke up with a start. But he was not in the control whatever his body was doing. It was as if he was taking a backseat in his own body. The room he was in definitely was not his own room in LA. Everything including the furniture looked like they are from the fifties.

Miguel felt a jolt of pain as he rose from the bed. He was no longer himself, but someone else. Someone with a different name, a different face, a different life. But as soon as he stood up it was as though he was fast forwarding through life.

He was Frank Moses, a boy who grew up in the 1950s. A boy who dreamed of adventure and glory. A boy who later joined the CIA and became a spy.

Miguel lived through the life of Frank Moses as if he was literally taking a run through it but having now control over his body. He 'saw' Frank playing with his friends, laughing and running. He saw Frank going to school, learning and growing. He saw Frank spending time with his family, loving and caring.

He also saw Frank being trained as a covert operative by the CIA. He saw Frank learning how to infiltrate, assassinate, and sabotage. He saw Frank participating in many high-risk missions around the world, such as the Iranian hostage crisis, the Soviet-Afghan war, and the fall of the Berlin Wall. He saw Frank earning a reputation as one of the best agents in the agency and being respected by his peers and superiors.

But Miguel also experienced the dark side of Frank's life. He was helpless and guilty, when he experienced Frank killing innocent people without remorse and betraying his allies without hesitation. Especially, when he killed all those innocent civilians and reporters in Guatemala, his blood just froze. He personally experienced every controversial operation that were either covered up or denied by the CIA that Frank had to take care of.

He felt neither remorse or regrets in the beginning or the end as Frank always believed that whatever he did was all for protecting his country. But towards his old age, he felt the loneliness and regrets that the man felt when he knew he was all alone and he desperately longed for company.

Miguel felt like he went through an entire lifetime of experience in a few minutes. There was only a fine line of barrier where he nearly lost his identity as Miguel James to Frank Moses. Suddenly everything reverted back to darkness and he felt the pull once again. He was back in his room, sweating and lying on his bed.

He had lived through the entire lifetime of a man whose skills he had already inherited. He was confused. The experience of a blurred identity was not at all a pleasant experience. But what he earned outweighed the troubles.

If he had the skills of Frank Moses before, it didn't mean that he was proficient in what he can do. Even if it was a short one, he did have a learning curve. But now it was no longer needed. He was Frank Moses personified except for his soul. Luckily, at the end of the day he still had his personality intact.

He just decided to lay down for some more time. It was already becoming dark and he just stood up and went down to have a meal. He was about to head down when he got a message in his cell phone. It was from Dom. It seems that they will be doing the mule run for Braga the next day. He just took a deep breath in. he was not the Miguel he was before. He had a newfound determination and plans on how to take care of the Braga situation. After having a sumptuous dinner, he said goodnights to his parents and headed back to his room.

When he was retrieving the ingredients needed to make the smoke bomb, he saw the binder that he retrieved from the trafficker's den. He just took it and sat down at his desk to take a look at it.

It was what he really expected it to be. It was a book with their targets and their details such as blood groups and addresses. The more he looked into it the angrier he became. There were all types of people listed as targets. From children of age eleven and even some adults of forty years old. As he was reading it, he suddenly saw something wrong as there was a certain pattern in which some of the kids were selected. They were all from his school. It was as if somebody just got the school's register. He didn't need much thinking to put everything together.

'Damn, they have an insider working for them.' He thought as he turned the pages and saw a very familiar name. Alex Dunphy. It was not just her; the students her entire year was in the list. He just got angrier as he thought about it. He just closed the book and threw it back into the space.

'AI, I need you to create a list of possible insiders working for these men within my school. I need every single one of them.' The AI just proceeded to look for them and gave him a list that included a ten people with previous history of crimes or having relation to the crime business. He just took the watchlist and just instructed the AI to keep an eye on all of them and alert him if it gets further clues about their involvement. And just concentrated making the bombs.

After an hour he was finished and had to take another bath just to remove the stench of the chemicals off him. After drying himself, he just decided to hit the sack and soon fell asleep.

He woke up early in the morning the next day. He went for the routine run with his father.

"Well son, how did the search for the part time job go?" Leon asked his son while jogging alongside him. Miguel was immersed in his thoughts while he was running and was brought back to present by his father's query.

"Uh… well, I did find one for the summer. I am not sure about it but the employer did really say that she had an opening and if I was interested, I could fill in." Miguel answered nonchalantly.

Leon had a weird expression upon hearing his son's remark. Miguel didn't notice it as he was engrossed in his thoughts about the future.

"Well son, is this 'she' a friend of yours?" Leon had some fears in his mind. He had heard of some news where some women liked to employ young boys for some special reasons.

"Well dad, she's a friend. Oh…. that's her." He pointed towards the park where Penny was warming up. Leon looked in the direction Miguel was pointing and when he saw the girl, his worried face grew a smirk. 'It was about time…phew' Leon was happy.

"Well son, you carry on. I will head back." He was so eager to tell this news to his wife that he just headed back. Miguel just looked at his father's actions with a bit of a confusion. But he didn't mind it and just left it alone. He just greeted Penny and just carried own with their daily sparring.

When he got back home, his parents had a weird look when they saw him. Miguel didn't actually understand what was going on but he just went to grab some water from the fridge.

They stared at him for a while and when he looked back with a confused expression, they just hurriedly scattered to do whatever they were doing. He was only more confused about it.

Even while he was having breakfast, they were looking at him with a smile that was just making him nervous. "Okay guys spit it out. What's wrong? Why are you guys acting weird?" Leon asked his parents fed up with their weird looks and actions.

"Well, son…I heard you were going to work at your cute friend's place for the summer. Care to share?" Rosa was a bit too excited while she asked her son. Leon just leaned in obviously very interested in the gossip.

Miguel, upon hearing his mother's question, sighed helplessly. "Mom, she is not someone I am interested in. She is just a friend and she don't like boys." He saw his parents' expressions change from weird to disappointment to surprise.

The rest of the breakfast was quite weird and was filled with silence. Later Miguel was dropped at the school by his parents and he just walked to his class. The classes were as dull as usual. He saw his friend fall asleep as soon as the history class commence. He himself was trying his best not to sleep.

When they dispersed for lunch, he walked up to the canteen to have his lunch. He was having a conversation about football with Aaron when he saw Haley Dunphy sitting alone and having her lunch. She was zoning out and was ignorant of her surroundings that she didn't even notice when Miguel sat down beside her. But when she did, she was startled and that expression soon changed to dejection.

"Whoa… who rained on your parade Haley?" Miguel asked her in a half concerned half joking manner. Haley obviously didn't like that comment and just decided to ignore Miguel and just focused on her food. Miguel was now concerned. He did remember that night's events and did expect some weirdness and awkwardness in the future. But this was beyond that.

Aaron had a very confused expression on his face. He just read the weirdness and just decided to give the duo some privacy.

"Seriously Haley what's wrong?" Miguel asked her in a really concerned voice.

Haley just looked at Miguel deeply. She saw that he was genuinely concerned about her. She took a deep breath and said in a calm manner that sounded vey forced. " I broke up with Dylan." Miguel was stunned.
