Light slowly filled the hut and within the hour filled the entire room. Alviss rolled around and tried to stay asleep but eventually woke up. He slowly looked around to see everything was the same as before.

He got out of bed and started to stretch a bit. He looked around for any indication of time but all he could tell was that it was morning. “Alright, now what do I do now?”

Alviss pondered on what to do next when someone opened the tent. Alviss looked over to see the elder making her way in with a large leaf with plenty of food on it. “Awake, good.”

She went over and sat down with the food in front of her. Alviss made his way over and they started to eat while he talked with the elder.

“What time is it?” The elder took a moment to swallow before answering. “Sun, high, soon.” replied the elder as Alviss pondered on what to do as time was was slipping away. “Ayus, you, fight.”

Alviss looked up and replied. “Yes. Like I said before, I understand your viewpoint but I must leave.” The elder simply looked at him before speaking. “Ayus, strong. You, win? Wound still.”

“I...I don’t know.” The elder simply stared at Alviss before finally answering, “Ayus, strong, fight, reason. You, fight, why?” Alviss looked back in surprise and desperately tried to answer “Because I have a mission. I can’t stay here and …”

“You, lie.” The elder cut him off and what she said shocked Alviss. When most of the food was gone, the elder left Alviss alone. “I, call, fight, sun, high.” Once more Alviss was left alone to his thoughts.

‘Lie. What the h*ll did she mean by that?’ Alviss tried to get rid of the thought and focus on the immediate problem but her minds still went back to what she said. Soon it was time for the fight.

The elder walked in once more and Alviss knew it was time. “Ready?” Alviss equipped the bag along with the sword and made their way out towards the center. Like last night everyone gathered around.

Ceremonial drums surrounded the area. At that time Alviss noticed the that there a clear outline of a large circle. Alviss continued on until the him and Ayus were the only one in the circle. The elder stepped out and addressed the audience. “Fight, Ayus, male. Lose, fight, no more. Lose, out, center. Weapon, no.”

The audience started to cheer as the elder explained the situation with them. While this was going on, Alviss looked at Ayus and his confidence was slowly plummeting. ‘Can I… Can I actually win?’

Ayus simply stood there, staring at Alviss until it was finally time. The drums started to play and the fight began. Ayus immediately charged at Alviss who barely moved out of the way. Ayus began throwing jabs and punches.

Alviss raised his hand to block the incoming attack. Each one knocking him further back and with the last one, knocking him further back. Alviss looked at his hand and saw them shaking from the impact.

“What...what strength. No, this is no time to think, I must attack!” This time Alviss charged in swinging. Ayus on the other hand was able to dodge Alviss’s attack rather easily. He threw quick jabs and even kicks.

A few connected but Ayus managed to block most of them. Soon  they simply fought, throwing hits while dodging at the same time. They continued on as the crowd screamed and cheer.

Both Alviss and Ayus didn’t so much as break a sweat while exchanging blows. ‘I...I need to end this quickly!’ thought Alviss as he quickly put his plan into action. Alviss went on the defense for a couple of hits until he saw an opportunity.

During one her punches, he finally ducked under the it. Alviss threw a couple of punched to her side, near the kidney. Ayus took some damage and was knocked to one of her knees. Alviss brought both of his hands down, Ayus retaliated by doing the same.

The hands interlocked with one another and soon they were struggling. “Come on!” Alviss poured in a much strength as he could muster and pushed Ayus. She was still weakened so she had trouble fighting back.

Alviss continued pushing her backing near the outer edge. The crowd were screaming and throwing their support. But before Ayus actually got a ring out, she planted her feet firmly on the ground to stop the motion.

They came to an abrupt stop that caught Alviss by surprise. He continued to push but couldn’t do anything. Soon Ayus was slowly standing up. “Damn it!”

Ayus pushed back with just as much force Alviss was. But for a split second Ayus stopped trying and they were pushed forward from the momentum. However just before Ayus officially fell out, she maneuver over Alviss. Now it was Alviss that fell, luckily he stopped a couple of inches from officially being out.

He quickly looked up and rolled to the left to avoid Ayus downward stomp. He quickly got up and they held their position, waiting for one another to attack. While waiting Alviss was left to his thoughts. ‘So close! There goes that plan.’

Alviss during that time took note of Ayus and anything that could give him an advantage. But there was nothing, even after all of that, she was still perfectly fine. “This body is certainly able to keep up to her years of experiences but I can’t pull out it’s full potential. When it comes to fights, she’ll win.”

His confidence was draining more and more. There was even a moment where he started to consider surrendering. “Fight, why?” Alviss broke concentration and looked directly at Ayus who repeated the question. “Fight, why?”

“Why I fight? It’s because I need to leave and unify this stinking world.” Ayus simply looked at Alviss. “Lie.” After she spoke the word, she charged in. Alviss kept on blocking and the two continued their conversation.

“Lie? What the h*ll are you talking about, that’s the truth!” Ayus simply continued attacking while refuting her. “No, lie.” Alviss could feel his anger growing. “How would you know, huh?!”

“Eyes.” Ayus kicked him back and he tried to catch his breath while trying to figure out what she meant. “Eyes? How does looking at my eyes tell you if I’m lying or not?” Ayus charged in while they continued their conversation.

“Eye, show, lie, yes, no. You, lie.” Ayus casually responded to his question that infuriated Alviss once more. His attacks were getting sloppy as he tried to talk back. “I’m not lying!”

Alviss threw a punch that Ayus easily dodged and then knocked him down. He sank to his knees trying to catch his breath. “You, fight, other, reason. You, selfish.”

Alviss felt his eyes widen in response as he quickly got up. Ayus didn’t allow him to rest as she continued attacking. Countless punches and eventually Alviss was down and the audience was cheering for for Ayus.

Alviss was on four trying to stand back up. Ayus began to circle him. “You, fight, selfish, reason. I, fight, tribe.” The crowd gave an en bigger cheer in response. “I...I am ……” Alviss started to trail off as a memory came back to him.

It was scene of when he was still Anna and he was with Amy at a local event at the mall. The two were walking around, going from booths to booths. “Slow down will you.” Amy turned back as to wait for Anna to catch up.

“Come on slowpoke. We need to hurry or else we’ll miss the autograph signing.” Amy ran back and grabbed Anna’s arm and hurried them both to the booth. Soon they were waiting in line.

“Thanks again for coming with me.” said Amy to Anna who shrugged it off. “It’s no problem, I was bored that’s all.” Anna looked back to see Amy staring at her for a second. “What?”

“You’re lying.” Anna took a step back in surprise and quickly tried to rebuttal her. “Lie, what are you talking about?” Amy looking directly at her kept confidence. “You are lying Anna.”

“What are you talking about? Besides you have no way to prove it.” Amy smiles or rather it was semi evil grin as she explained. “That’s where you’re wrong, why the human body is the perfect lie detector. If you know the signs then it’s easy. Just now you were blinking quite a bit not to mention, you have yet to make eye contact with me when you spoke your lie.”

After a minute of staring, Anna finally broke. “All right, fine I was lying. Happy?” Amy showed a smile at Anna honesty. “I knew it, these type of events aren't your forte. So why is that you’re here? And the truth please.”

“I.’s b.c...e I w..ted sp.n. so.e .im. w..h y.u.”

“Sorry what was that?”

“It’s because I wanted to spend some time with you.”

Amy beamed a warm hearted smile. “Is that it? Well I really appreciate it, I’ll make it up to you somehow. Maybe movie or something else.” The two started to bicker as the memory started to fade away and Alviss was back in reality.

“Hehe, I’m really predictable aren’t I.” Alviss slowly rose up as Ayus brought her attention back to him. “You’re right, I was just lying to both you and myself in some pathetic attempt to make me forget.”

Ayus lightened up and had a confused look on her face as Alviss continued to talk. “But I’m not the only one that is selfish!” screamed Alviss as he charged at her. Ayus raised her hands in defense but Alviss simply attack.

Now forgoing defense, he poured all of his energy into his attacks. Once more they continued to bash at each other while talking. “I, lie?” Ayus responded to his accusation. “I, fight, tribe.”

Alviss let out a little chuckle in response. “Hehe, That may be true but that’s not all. You have a selfish reason, just like me!” screamed Alviss as he managed to get a punch in, hitting her in the face.

He didn’t let up and this time he was in the lead. More punches and kicks were landed on Ayus.”You have the same eyes as mine, a pity look of desperation!” Alviss landed a powerful punch against her face, pushing her back and she dropped to her knees.

Ayus was taking very deep breaths. “I...fight...trib…” Alviss quickly cut her off. “Even I know that’s bullsh*t. You and I aren’t that different. And I know you have some form of a relationship regarding the last male that came through here. Now I’m quite curious.”

Ayus slowly stood back up while spitting out a splat of blood. She looked over with a malicious look. “No, talk.” Alviss for smile in response to Ayus defiance attitude. “Let’s make a little wager. If I win, then you’ll talk. but if you win, then I’ll talk.”

“If, you, win, only.” It took a second before Alviss recognized the meaning behind her words, her rather arrogant answer. “That’s the spirit!”

They both charged in once more and didn’t let up in their attacks. From punching and kicking to throwing each other to the ground and pulling their hairs. This went on for several minutes and Alviss knew he was going to lose. ‘Not yet! I’m not going down without a fight!’

They attacked without any sign of stopping or defending themselves. But it was during that moment that Alviss started to notice something. Throughout the fight there were times when he felt that he would simply fall down from exhaustion but didn’t. There was always a weird blissful feeling that accompanied him.

Both were taking deep heavy breaths. Most of the injuries between both of them were bruises. Even though Alviss should be dead tired, he could still keep going. It was during that moment of respite that he noticed something. The amazons were cheering, they cheering for him. Just about half of them were cheering for Ayus while the rest cheered for Alviss.

“True blessing?” The memory of that night appeared and Alviss finally understood the full potential. ‘I guess I owe God an apology. But I’ll worry about that when I win.’ Alviss thought to himself.

Alviss took in one more final deep breath and charged in. Ayus was taken by surprised and once more they duked it out. The cheering intensified as the battle was nearing its end. They each threw attacks with their remaining strength.

Even though the ability was helping him, Ayus still had more strength left then Alviss was recovering. There was also the fact that the wound was starting to open up and his body was in constant pain. “I need to end this now, here goes nothing!”

Alviss rushed in and tackled Ayus, pushing her back. Ayus managed to break free and spin him to keep him off. Alviss quickly recovered and hit her with a low sweep kick, knocking her to the ground.

Alviss knew that he had moments before he would drop from fatigue. He ran over and got on top of her. Pulling back a fist and directed towards her face, finally winning. But that didn’t happened.

The last of his strength finally left him and hit the ground next to her head, leaving a small crack. “Damn it...so close.” Fatigue finally caught up and he fell over Ayus body. The other amazon let out a triumphant cheer for their leader’s victory.

Alviss could feel his body getting heavy and his eyelids closing. The last thing that he saw was Ayus turning him over and her looking down before darkness.

All he could see was darkness for an indefinite amount of time. Soon he started to hear thing and slowly opened his eyes. He slowly looked around to see the elder attending to him. “Awake, yes?”

Alviss slowly stood up and saw that the elder was healing him up.”How long have I been out?” The elder looked up after fixing up some bandages. ‘No, long.”

Alviss was still recovering so he simply sat there while the elder fixed him up. About the time she left, Ayus made her way in. She made her way over and sat down next to me.

“So how many am I going to sleep with tonight?” Ayus didn’t respond to her and simply stayed silent for a while. “You, lose.”

“Gee, tell me something I don’t know.” Ayus ignored her sarcastic comment and continued on. “You, lose. Wound, no, heal, fully.”

“It was my decision to fight last night, so it’s not entirely your fault. A deal is a deal.” Ayus simply nodded and got up to leave. But before she actually left she asked one more question.

“Fight, reason, why?”

“Why do I fight? I fight for her.”

“Her?”

“You may not believe me but I lived another life, but I died. Worst of all, I died while regretting my final moments. In the end I was scared to let her know my true thoughts. And now here I am.”

“You, love, her?” Alviss let out a small chuckle and nodded in response. “I admired her, she was always bright, always happy no matter what situation. Yes I love her.”

Ayus simply stared at Alviss for about a minute until she finally left. Alviss simply fell back down back and simply rest. The bed was soft while the air was warm. Eventually he slowly drifted to sleep.

After a couple of hours, Alviss slowly woke up. He looked around at the dimly light hut. “Is it night time already? I must be more tired than I thought.”

He looked around to see the outside was lit up by campfire and the totem pole fire. He slowly made got up and walked out. No one was around so that meant that everyone was probably eating.

He walked to the center where he caught the attention of everyone. He slowly walked up as the elder led him to where they were before. Ayus stood up and began talking with the tribe but what she said shocked Alviss.

“Soon, leave, male, I.” Alviss looked up as Ayus continued talking. Essentially Ayus addressed to the tribe that she and Alviss would leave together to complete his quests. Soon Ayus sat down as the tribe slowly talked amongst themselves.

“Ayus, why?” Ayus looked back with a proud demeanor. “Male, strong. strong, Ayus.” All Alviss could do was smile. The elder cut in with her own comment. “Yes, Ayus, leave. Duty, finish, back, nu nu.”

“I see. You have my word, when everything is finally done. I will come back and help populate your tribe once more.”

Both of the elder and Ayus smile and the feast continued all night. Soon it was late at night and Alviss headed back to his hut once more. He spread open the blankets to reveal Ayus on the bed as well.

“Umm, Ayus.” Ayus slowly stood up and nervously responded to Alviss. “Sleep, together.”

‘You can take down a giant animal with your bare hands along with fighting a person full on without so much as batting an eye but you’re only now embarrass when you want to sleep together.’ Alviss kept his thoughts to himself and simply let out a sigh.

“Sure, why not? So long as you keep to yourself, that’s fine.” Alviss sat down and got ready to sleep. He could feel Ayus shaking a bit but ignored it. He could feel her warmth beneath the blanket, soon he finally started to sleep.
