Anna spent the next ten minutes swearing and screaming every known profanity at God. When she was done a voice finally called out to her. “Are you done yet?”
Anna, taking in large deep breath, took a second to collect her thoughts before answering. “Yeah I’m finished.” She sat back down and God continued on.
“That’s good. Now before you go on to save the world, there are still things you need to know about.”
“Like what?” Anna raised her eyebrow curiously at God’s statement. “Like I said before, your body is strong both physically and mentally. All you need to do is simply train and get use to it.”
“When you say mentally strong does that mean I could use stuff like magic?”
“Yes. But --” Anna didn’t wait for God to finish his sentence as she immediately stood up. She Extended one of her hands towards the forest. A few seconds passed with nothing happening.
“What are you trying to do?” God asked curiously, to which Anna replied sharply. “What does it look like? I’m trying to do magic. Come on…. Maybe I just have to concentrate.”
Anna closed her eyes and started to fully concentrate but nothing happened. “What the h*ll? I thought you said I could use magic and stuff?”
“I never said that. I simply said the body is capable of using magic, you on the other hand can’t. You’ll need to learn the old fashion way.”
“Well I should look on the bright side, when I do learn magic, it will be awesome.”
“That’s right. Now then onto the next point, a new name.” Once again Anna raised her eyebrow in response. “Why would I need a new name?”
“Well you are a male now. Besides, technically ‘Anna’ is dead. You’re someone else.” Anna scratched her head in confusion. “Man this whole reincarnation thing is confusing. All right, I’ll think up of something.”
Anna sat down and stayed in a meditated position before opening her eyes. “I got it, Alviss. From now on, I’ll be Alviss.”
“I see. Well then Alviss, please listen to me carefully. There should be a bag right next to you.”
Alviss looked around until he saw a small leather tote bag leaning against the side of a tree. Alviss walked over and picked it to inspect it.
“That bag is something special. It’s called an infinity pouch. The reason for it’s name is that it is directly linked to an empty space dimension. You can store anything in there; assuming it fits that is.”
Alviss looked at the bag in awe. He inspected the fine leather and opened it. Inside looked to be a bottomless pit.
“You’ll able to retrieve what you want by simply thinking of what exactly you desire. Currently there are a couple of items in there, so just take them all out.”
Alviss reached his hand into the bag and pulled out a large assortment of things and laid them all out. They ranged from clothing to tiny bottles of color liquid to even a water canteen and among other things.
“First thing's first, you need to get dressed.” Alviss looked down and realized that he was still naked and quickly put on the clothes. It was a set of light leather armor.
“Now then, for your weapon. Take a good look at it.” Alviss nodded and picked up a sheathed sword. He slowly unsheathed it to reveal an elegant sword.
The hilt of the sword was elegantly designed with a geometric pattern while the blade looked sharp and felt really balanced. It was a silver longsword. All around the blade there were small inscriptions that Alviss couldn’t read.
“In this world there are weapons and items that are imbued with certain magical property. This sword is one of them. I called it Erstarken which is. (German for growing strength.) It’s a sword that grows as you grow.”
What God said made Alviss inspect the sword with even more amazement. “So what you’re saying is that if I get stronger then so too will the sword?”
“Not directly, no. What I mean is that the more powerful monster you defeat with the weapon the more it grows. Now regarding the potions. The red one is a health potion, while the blue is a mana potion. The others are potion in case of status effect such as poison or paralysis.”
Alviss grabbed the potion one by and looked at them. “They look like medicine.” A small chuckle could be heard from God. “That’s one way of looking at it.” Alviss put down the potion after inspecting them.
“Is that it?” Asked Alviss.
“Just about so, but there’s one more important thing I must tell you. That’s regarding a special ability that I gave you.”
“Special ability? What is it?”
“It’s an ability that is unique only to you. It is call True Blessing. But that’s all I can say for now. The body is still quite new so the ability can’t be used yet.”
“Gee, thanks for that useless piece of information.” replied Alviss with a rather sarcastic and curt tone. “Is that all all?”
“Yes, that’s all for now. Currently you’re in the lower region of the human continent. I would suggest heading to the main capital, just head north and you should be fine. Once again you can reach me at anytime.”
With that the conversation ended and Alviss was by himself. He put his back against the tree and simply stared out towards the landscape and examined his body once more.
Sigh. ‘Looks like this is real after all. …. Well no use in just sitting around doing nothing, the world isn’t going to save itself.’
Alviss hopped up and landed on his feet with enthusiasm. He fixed the sword on his waist and put the items back in the bag.
Alviss then made his way down to the semi-dense forest below. For the next couple of minutes Alviss transversed the forest with a look of awe on his face as he took note of almost every little detail of the splendid forest;.
From the light shinning down to the noise of the little creatures running about the forest. Eventually he spotted a small red salamander on a tree.
“Ahh how cute.” Alviss slowly walked up and extended a finger to touch it but was met with an unexpected result. The salamander spotted him and spat a short flame in defense.
Alviss quickly took his finger back and continued on his way. Soon the forest started to clean out. A river could be made out as he got closer and closer. He walked up and knelt down to take a drink.
He grabbed a hand full of water and splashed it on his face. After taking a minute or two Alviss looked down at his reflection.
All he could do was stare at his new face. His eyes were now a brilliant ocean blue with black pupils. His hair was a mixture of silvery and snow color and longer than what it used to be. Alviss’s face looked about exactly like how it was before Anna died. Although it was more muscular, it was still feminine as well.
His other features were just as perfect from his nose to his mouth and teeth. He continued to inspect his new face. ‘Huh, I almost look like those bishounen characters that Amy likes to look at.’
Alviss was brought out of his thoughts when he heard something running in his way. With his new hearing he could hear it coming closer and closer. Soon a creature leapt out of the forest and landed right a couple of meters in front of Alviss.
The creature looked to be a wolf with grey hair. It was panting a lot before before it’s attention to Alviss. The wolf soon bared it’s fangs and slowly trudged towards Alviss.
Alviss was taken by surprise but quickly snapped out of it. He unsheathed the sword and took a stance. He focused his eyes on the wolf and pondered what to do. ‘I have no battle experience whatsoever. Can I even win?’
Alviss looked at the wolf and noticed some blood on its leg. Looking closer he found that one of its the rear legs was injured. He then weighed his chances. ‘It’s hurt, so that means I have a chance.’
The wolf slowly closed the distance and it was at that time that Alviss leaped into action. Clutching the sword with both hands, he charged directly at the wolf. In response the wolf ran towards Alviss as well.
The wolf jumped and brought its fangs down as Alviss used his sword to block the teeth. Alviss knocked the wolf aside and it started to circle him. He quickly got back up and held his stance.
The wolf would charge in but be knocked back by Alviss every time. However the wolf would do a little damage to him while he couldn’t do any damage to the wolf. This went on for several minutes. ‘All I’m doing is defending! I need to end this now.’
While constantly circling, Alviss noticed a pattern in how the wolf walk to make up for the injured leg. He quickly formulated an idea and put it into action. This time when the wolf attacked, he allowed himself to be hurt a little bit to bait the wolf into another attack.
The wolf scratched his shoulder and jumped back for another attack. Alviss ignored the pain and looked for an opening. “Got you!”
When the wolf circled back to attack him from behind, it allowed an opening. Alviss loosened his grip and threw the sword at the wolf. It spinned horizontally and hit its injured leg, causing it to stop.
Alviss sprinted forward toward the sword as the wolf was trying to get back up. Before the wolf could get back on all fours, Alviss grabbed the sword and plunged it into its neck.
It let out a deafening and terrifying cry as blood started to spill on Alviss. He held on strong until the wolf was finally dead. Alviss took in very deep breath as he sat down and looked at the animal that he had just killed.
After a few minutes Alviss finally got up and pondered on what to do with the now dead animal. After a minute she squatted down and called for God.
“Yes what is it?”
“You wouldn’t happen to know how to skin an animal would you?” Asked Alviss who waited for a response from God. Eventually it came and God helped Alviss through the process of skinning it.
Soon all that was left were bits of fur and skin with the meat completely visible. Alviss stored the fur in the bag. “Are you not going to eat the meat?” Spoke God as Alviss finished up.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
“I was planning on it, but now, not so much.” With that the conversation ended and Alviss got cleaned up.
After making sure everything was done, Alviss took another drink from the lake and continued on. He continued on north as the sun beating down.
The further he went the denser the forest became. Vines draped around every tree with exotic look flowers decorating the floor and the tree branches. The humidity was almost unbearable for Alviss.
Sweat dripped down her skin. Alviss wiped away the sweat every couple of minutes as he continues on. “Damn. This is way too hot. Maybe I should make a small umbrella or something.”
Alviss continued on for what seemed to be around two hours before finally resting. During that time he picked some plants and fruits from the forest. Most of them looked to be the same from earth like banana, apple, pear, etc…
There were some with odd shapes and color. Like one that was round and purple or another that had a yellow zigzag pattern on a donut looking fruit.
‘Wonder if any of them are edible.’ pondered Alviss as she looked at the assortment in front of him. First he brought out some of the potion just in case if some of them were bad for him.
First he tried the ones he did know. The apple tasted like an apple while the banana tastes like a banana. Soon he looked at the new food in front of him. A bit reluctant, he finally picked one up and took a bit out of it.
“Hmm, not too bad.” said Alviss as he started to eat more of the new fruits. Some were delicious while others had an unusual taste to it.
Soon all that were left were cores and bits of the fruit left. Alviss let out a small burp while resting undering the tree. The sun was down and it started cool down a bit.
Alviss lied down against a tree and started to close his eyes. His mind started to ease and felt himself slipping into a sleep. But before he could go to sleep a sharp noise caught his attention.
He immediately got up and grabbed his sword. He looked around but soon focuseds on his hearings. After a couple of seconds he located the noise. Multiple fast footsteps could be heard.
After listening for a couple of seconds he remembered the noise to be similar the wolf from before. Alviss quickly packed up and got ready.
As time went on, the noise got louder and louder. Alviss prepared just as several foxes jumped out. Alviss almosted attacked but all the wolf ran past him.
“Huh?!” Alviss looked behind him at the unexpected action. I relaxed a bit and pondered on what had just happened.
‘Why are they running? Weren’t they coming after me? No. the wolf from earlier look exactly the same as those, so that means it’s a pack then. Wait! If they were running then that means something is chasing the--.’
Alviss thoughts were interrupted by a loud roar. Alviss looked around in a panic as the noise caused some birds to fly away. Soon his hearing picked up a loud animal running in his direction.
A loud creature jumped out of the forest and landed in front of Alviss. the sudden action caused him to jump back, landing on his butt. He looked up in fear at the creature staring him down.
The creature looked to be a massive lion. The difference was that its size was about two and a half time larger than a normal lion and it had two head. The mane was a crimson color while the rest of the body was a mixture of yellow and black.
The creature looked around and soon it focused his attention down at the frightened Alviss. Alviss could do nothing but just stare in fear as it slowly walked forward. ‘Sh*t! I...I need to run!’
Alviss forced his legs to stop shaking and started to run away. It took a moment before the creature started to chase after Alviss. Even with the new body and stamina along with the head start, the creature quickly caught up.
Alviss looked back at the right moment, just as it swung its massive claw towards his chest. Alviss quickly dodged the attack. This time he pulled out his sword and took a stance.
The lion began to circle Alviss, trying to sizing him up. For Alviss however, the answer was already clear. “I can’t win.”
All Alviss could do was sat there and ponder on what to do to get out of the situation. “I can’t run, that thing will catch up to me. But I can’t fight it either, I’ll get mauled to death.”
Once more the creature lunged at Alviss who barely dodged it. Luckily the sword was made out of a strong material as Alviss was able to take blows from the creature. All Alviss could do was defend and back up.
This went on for a while until he reached a dead end. After backing up for so long they eventually came to a small cliff area that dropped to another section of the forest.
Alviss quickly looked back as his foot was losing its footing. By the time that he looked back the creature it was pouncing once more. This time he was slow to respond. He brought his sword to block but this time it used its other hand to attack.
A huge gash mark could be seen with blood pouring out of the gap. Alviss kneeled down clutching the wound as the creature closed in. Alviss in a panic, reckless attacked the creature. He managed to plunged the sword into it’s body.
It let out a loud scream at the pain. Soon it started to flail it’s paws about, eventually hitting Alviss off the side. “Nooo!” scream Alviss as he fell down. A couple of tree branches were in the way and he tumbled down, hitting them.
Luckily they broke his fall. When he landed on the ground with a huge thud, pain coursed through his body and he ached all over. He started to cough up blood and was trying to catch his breath.
He felt his conscious starting to lose itself. The light was starting to get a bit dim and he was left with his thoughts. “Am I going to die again?”
Small pebbles fell from the above as the creature slid down the cliff. All Alviss could do was look as it slowly made it way down. He tried to move but couldn’t do a thing.
His mind almost faded but soon flashes of his old life appeared. Times spent with Amy, be it from sleepovers to simply talking. “There’s no way in h*ll that I’m dying now!”
With adrenaline pumping through the body, Alviss was able to stand on his knees. He looked up to see the creature was still trying to get down from the cliff. Alviss looked around and quickly spotted the bag a couple of feets from him.
He limped over and quickly got out a health potion out of the bag. He ripped open the cap and drank the potion. It was a semi-solid liquid similar to medicine. It had a weird taste to it, a mixture of peppermint and mint, among other things.
He felt a slow rising heat spreading through his body. He could feel his strength recovering along with the wound starting to lessen. He managed to get on his feet just as the creature landed.
He looked over and saw the creature was a bit slower than what it normally was. Alviss soon eyed his sword that was deeply cut inside the creature. “Good, at the least I did some damage to it. But now the question is, how to I get it back?”
The creature started to slowly advance while Alviss racked his brain for an idea. Soon a crazy thought occurred to him. He opened the bag and rummaged through it until he found another potion.
He grabbed a mana potion and opened the cap. The creature saw the jerky action and charged in. Just as it did that, Alviss threw the bottle at it. Aiming for the head, the glass bottle hit the monster’s forehead, shattering the bottle and splashing the potion in it’s eye.
Once more it let out a cry while attacking blindly. Alviss took this chance and ran towards the sword. The attacks were pretty slow so he managed to grabbed the sword and pulled it out.
The creature once again attacked blindly while Alviss coordinated his attacks to it’s legs. Taking quick slashes to try and slow it down. It worked for a while before the creature regained it senses and swatted him away.
While Alviss was recovering the creature went in for the kill. “Here goes nothing!” Screamed Alviss as he charged in as well. He dodged the initial attack and plunged the sword straight into one of its heads.
It let out a deafening scream and tried shake him off but to no avail. He kept the sword in place for as long as he could before the creature attacked his back. Alviss could feel the claw digging deep into his skin and muscles. “Ahhhh!”
Soon Alviss was thrown back and hit the ground. The bag was knocked away and he couldn’t reach it. More pain coursed through his body and this time he knew he wouldn’t be getting up from this.
The creature slowly recovered from his attack and made its way over. All Alviss could do was lie there and watch. Soon it up on top of him and raised one of its paws to finish the job.
‘Is this it?’ thought Alviss who still tried to move but to no avail. He closed his eyes, expecting death once more but it didn’t come. Instead he heard the creature cry once more and opened his eyes.
“Is that an arrow?” spoke Alviss as looked at the creature with an arrow in one of it’s eyes. Soon figures were dropping down all over the creature.
They were all tall females with extremely tanned skin. They had on what seemed like animal skins and leather to cover themselves. They practically looked like amazons from how they looked and the weapons they carried.
They soon pelted the creature with arrows. The creature roared in defiance but knew it couldn’t win so it started to retreat. The amazon didn’t allow it and some fighters rushed in and aimed for the injured legs.
It soon fell but kept on trying to run. One of the amazon slowly walked in the direction of the creature. She stood the tallest among the amazon and looked to be the most powerful. The creature roared once more and attacked the lone amazon.
She easily dodged it by side stepping and sliding to the side of it. After that she jumped the on the creature and brought her hands around the other head without the sword. She pinned it to the ground and they started to struggle.
She had put it into a headlock and was slowly putting more and more force behind her chokehold. The creature tried to break free but to no avail. The last thing that Alviss heard before blacking out was a loud ‘crack’.
