“Watch out for poisonous smoke!”
Nguyen Zuzanna’s voice echoed as she warned the four disciples of the God Tower Academy about the impending attack of toxic smoke. The students, already alert and prepared for sudden mist that enveloped them, leaped out of the house through the roof. Upon reaching the top, they were immediately greeted by a barrage of poisonous arrows, each tipped with a dark hue.
Rowan Storm, with the highest level of cultivation, swiftly deployed the shield he crafted with sealing mantras. Instantly, hundreds of arrows flying towards them plummeted to the ground, failing to hit their targets. They then attempted to escape the siege by running across the rooftops.
“Come here!”
Nguyen Zuzanna, who had fled first, signaled for the four of God Tower Academy students to run towards her. They followed Nguyen Zuzanna, traversing the narrow paths amidst the dense population of houses. For the moment, none of the members of the Demon Sect who had come to attack were in sight.
“It seems we’re safe now,” Nguyen Zuzanna said.
“Miss Nguyen, how did you know we would be attacked by enemies? And how can you be sure this place is safe?” Rowan Storm inquired, somewhat suspicious.
“Elder Alden, I’ve been in this place longer than you. I came here seeking those who massacred my entire family and kidnapped my father. Besides, I’ve obtained permission from the master,” Nguyen Zuzanna replied, trying to suppress her offense.
Nguyen Zuzanna’s words reminded Rowan Storm of Master Lin Duano’s story about the attacks that had occurred in several academies and the families of heroes renowned in the Cultivator world. One of them was the Nguyen family, whose leader, none other than Nguyen Zuzanna’s father, was known for his greatness. However, Rowan Storm showed no signs of guilt.
“What about Master Lin Duano? Isn’t he with us?” Julius asked, directing the question to no one in particular.
“Master Lin isn’t at the farmer’s house. He left shortly after summoning you to the subconscious dimension. Master Lin is investigating the Demon Sect’s headquarters. He must be there by now,” Nguyen Zuzanna answered.
“In that case, we should follow Master Duano. I’m afraid something might happen to him. Moreover, it seems our presence in this village has been discovered by the Demon Sect. Who knows who leaked our whereabouts,” Julius suggested.
Julius’s suggestion was approved by all the students except Nguyen Zuzanna. She stated that Master Lin Duano had instructed them not to follow their master in investigating the Demon Sect’s headquarters. She also advised that if by tomorrow Master Lin had not returned, the students should promptly return to the God Tower Academy and report to the chairman to take immediate action on what had happened.

However, none of the four students agreed with Miss Nguyen’s words. They unanimously decided to pursue Master Lin and assist him if anything happened there. They didn’t want to be considered disloyal by abandoning Master Lin. Miss Nguyen, feeling it was impossible to continue persuading the students, eventually let them go and joined in following Master Lin.
In the forest, Master Lin Duano continued to fight fiercely against the siege of the Demon Sect members. He chose to keep fighting despite the risk of death at the hands of the Demon Sect. Several times he attempted to break free from the siege and leave the area, but the Three Bloodfire Demons always thwarted him. This time, the enemies were truly formidable.
“Unexpectedly, this living corpse is at the level of a fairy in terms of strength,” murmured Master Lin Duano.
At this moment, Master Lin Duano was under immense pressure. Avoiding his enemies, he finally resorted to using the Divine Array to shield himself within it. This time, his efforts paid off. The seal of the Divine Array he set up successfully created a protective barrier that even a cultivator at the fairy realm couldn’t penetrate.
“Even if you hide behind that Array, Master Lin, you won’t be able to hide there forever. We’ll wait for you no matter how long you hide. Meanwhile, I’ll occasionally show you these three Bloodfire Demons devouring one by one the disciples we’ve captured.”
“You scoundrel!” cursed Master Lin. Hearing his enemies taunt his disciples, whose fate he currently didn’t know, also shook Master Lin. He became extremely worried about the fate of his disciples.
Master Lin Duano was truly torn this time. If he had to leave the Array, he would surely be captured and ultimately killed. But if he stayed put, he feared what Master Malachi threatened to do. Surely, under such circumstances, his spirit would be crushed, and his protective Array would weaken. Eventually, the enemy would succeed in capturing him.
Master Lin Duano attempted to create a portal within the Array, but just like before, the portal couldn’t form. This time, Master Lin Duano was truly desperate. If he were to die, then there would be no more chance for him to save himself in that place. Yet, his only hope now was for his disciples to return to the Tower of the Gods and report everything to the Academy’s leader so that immediate action could be taken.
“Group leader! We’ve successfully captured those kids!”
Someone emerged from behind the forest, paying respects to Master Malachi and bringing news that they had successfully captured the students from the Tower of the Gods Academy. Shortly after, several people dressed in all blue appeared, bringing four young men with them. These four young men were students from the Tower of the Gods Academy.
“Hahaha, excellent. Your work is commendable. Later, I will ask the leader to reward you for your achievements. Bring those four students to their Master; let’s make them the meal for these three Bloodfire Demons one by one,” said Master Malachi.
Seeing his four students successfully captured by the enemy made, Master Duano even more anxious. In his desperation, Master Duano finally decided to fight tooth and nail with his opponent and attempted to defeat the enemy to save the students. He began to exert all his strength.
“Bloodfire Demons, feast on the youth on the far right!”
Master Malachi commanded one of the Bloodfire Demons to devour one of the students in front of Master Lin. He pointed towards Julius, who was on the far right. With lightning speed, the Bloodfire Demon moved and gripped Julius’s neck. It immediately bit into Julius’s right shoulder, tearing the flesh and causing blood to spill.
“Akkkkhhh!”
