Chapter 11: A Competition

Aware of his mistake in entering without greeting, Tiberius Li Julius turned around and bowed in respect to the senior student who had just reprimanded him. However, it seemed that the senior student intended to pick a fight with Tiberius Li Julius. After the young man turned around and bowed, he received a kick from his senior in the same tower group, causing him to fall to the ground. The incident made everyone present burst into laughter, except for another young man with slightly darker skin.

This young man was in the same group as Julius and belonged to the same batch. He was the young master from the Blackthorn Family, hailing from the city of Azure Peak in the east. His name was Galen Blackthorn, a young man around 17 years old. He disliked seeing others oppressed in front of him. Galen Blackthorn, with his sturdy and tall figure and dark skin, immediately approached Julius and helped him up.

As Julius got up, he raised his head and stared sharply at the seniors who were at the gate, laughing at him. The young man was angered by the actions of the seniors. He clenched his fists so tightly that his bones cracked. Fortunately, Galen Blackthorn patted his shoulder to calm him down.

“If you want your life to be peaceful here, then go ahead and confront them! But remember, whether you pass the next exam depends on those senior members of our group!” Galen Blackthorn reminded him.

Galen Blackthorn’s words successfully calmed Julius’s anger. He then walked alongside his new friend into the tower, their residence. The tower had three levels - the first level housed new students, the second level was for intermediate seniors, and the third level served as the resting place for the senior members.

The Dragon Earth Tower itself was not very tall, only three-story house. There were two towers in that place, with the right one being the residence for male students and the left one for female students. Besides the God’s Tower, there were three other towers where both students and Masters lived, each tower led by a Master and inhabited by students.

These three towers were dedicated to cultivating different skills. The Dragon Earth Tower was for cultivators skilled in weapon usage and high-level seal techniques. The Dragon Fire Tower was for students adept in elemental manipulation techniques. The Dragon Water Tower was for those who excelled in controlling spiritual animals and merging their fighting spirits with other creatures.

Each tower was led by a prominent figure who was also the main Master there. In addition to the Grand Master, there were two assistant Masters responsible for teaching students in each tower. Moreover, senior students were sometimes asked to help train junior students under them for faster progress.

It turned out that what the senior mentioned earlier about their gathering was true. The sound of a giant bell rang four times from the God’s Tower, signaling that all students and Masters should gather in front of the tower. This was usually done when their Grand Master was going to give guidance or instructions.

Without waiting for long, all the students of the Tower of the Gods Academy, both new and old, as well as all the Masters, had gathered in front of the God’s Tower. There, the Academy’s chairman, who was also the main Master and grand master, was waiting. A man dressed in all white, with hair and a long beard that had turned white, full of compassion and authority, waited for the students to assemble. He nodded approvingly when he saw everyone gathered right in front of him.

“Respectful greetings to the Grand Master of the Tower of the Gods Academy!” exclaimed all the students in unison.

Not only the old students but also the new ones were taught how to show respect to the Masters, especially to the grand master who served as the chairman of the academy. So, when they were right in front of the Tower of the Gods Academy, they were no longer hesitant to give their respects by kneeling.

“Rise!” Magnus Raven smiled as he commanded all the students to stand up after paying their respects.

Simultaneously, all the students rose from their kneeling positions. They immediately directed their gaze towards the chairman of the Tower of the Gods Academy, eagerly awaiting his words. Despite their curiosity, they patiently waited for the elder to speak, as it was unusual for him to gather them at this time.

Magnus Raven stroked his fairly long and whitening beard, looking up at the sky as if engaging in a conversation with it. Then, he took a deep breath and began speaking.

“I intentionally gathered you all today to convey some joyful news. Three months from now, I will organize a competition for all students. Those who successfully win the competition will receive the opportunity to cultivate with me in the Tower of the Gods. I will assist them in avoiding the powerful spiritual energy attacks from this tower.”

Hearing the words of the chairman of the Tower of the Gods Academy, the students simultaneously cheered with joy. It was indeed a challenging and life-threatening task to cultivate alone in the Tower of the Gods. However, the situation changed when the elder named Magnus Raven offered assistance and protection against the formidable energy attacks in the tower. This would undoubtedly mitigate the life-threatening risks.

Moreover, cultivating in the Tower of the Gods significantly accelerated the cultivation progress for the students. Anyone who cultivated in the Tower of the Gods would be able to break through friendly levels and ascend up to five levels at once. Typically, the chairman of the Tower of the Gods Academy would only provide this opportunity once every five years. The selected students were few, usually no more than five, comprising a combination of junior and senior students.
