I wake up startled in a body bag, the surroundings cold, but i don’t mind it as my mind is overloading at a fast pace.
I unzip the body bag and sit up but as soon as i finish doing the actions it starts.
The voices, the pain, it hurts, it hurts so badly.
I place my hands on my face as i howl in pain, my voice cracking in the process as the anguish don’t stop.

Alphen looks at me with curiosity, it’s clear she nor the girls have engineer knowledge.
Then i start to hear comotion as the crew start to run back and forth, the sound of roars clear, we are under attack.
Alphen - “Again? Could they wait a little more before disturbing me... This piss me off.”
I chuckle at her anger as i release her.

Omega - “I heard that the stem core is down, need help?”
She nods to me and bring me to the core room of the IBST, where there is crew everywhere trying to make the steam core light up again.
I close my eyes and hear the steam core, it’s sound limpid and exagerated, it’s clear that it got internal damage.
Opening my eyes i call out.
Omega - “Stop! You're damaging the steam core more!”
One of the crew looks at me, it’s clear it’s the chief in command of the core, after a look she starts barking orders to stop the crew.
Chief - “So, how do you know it’s damaged and not dead.”
Omega - “Simple, if it died you all would have brought it back long ago, but the damage is severe, most likely the steam injector, compartment, and core component is damaged or destroyed.”
The chief gives me a nod, not asking further and awaits command.
I start giving orders and the crew follow it, and soon the core is sealed from the IBST.
Done that i start opening valves and smacking levers, as the steam core starts to depressurize, i start working faster so the core don’t get damaged more because of poor management.
After some time I'm done with the core lower parts.
Omega - “Hey, need someone to get up there to open all the valves over there, and beware not to get burned, the core may be depressurized but it’s still burning inside.”
After talking the chief itself opened the valves letting the steam core further cool down as the noise of hot steam exiting the upper valves.
With some movements i open the lower connection, and the steam core rises up but the botton connector don’t close up!
Omega - “RETREAT!”
I yell and run out of the room as the crew does the same, some are too slow and get some nasty burns, but the quick action of the others manages to save the unlucky ones before being steamed alive.
Some time later after i finish treating the wounded crew i rise up and place a hand on the door to feel the temperature.
Still hot, need another hour to finish cooling down.
I look up and hear another shootout outside, with nothing to do i go outside and help the girls shoot some latex beasts.

Going to the middle of the lower connector, i pull the pipe out, revealing a hidden chamber known only by engineers that know how to repair steam cores, i slide it out of it's place as the box with the steam core parts is welded to the IBST.
After getting the box out i open the lid, to find a combination lock, after a minute placing the password, it open revealing it's contents, tools and components for steam core repair.
Now that i have everything i start working on the steam core and in no time it's repaired to optimal status.
The steam core was in bad shape, seven destroyed components, heavy damaged steam gyros, bulged steam containers, all in all, it was so damaged it stoped working, the good thing is that it did not get bad enough to blow up.
After putting the steam core back together and reconecting it, i give it some test and it's good to go.
As the steam core lights up and the IBST get hotter again i say out loud for all the crew to hear.
Omega - "Avoid emergency cooling at all costs, if you want to cool it down just open the valves and pull the upper emergency levers in the metal box there, it will open a part of the chimey at full power to release the hot steam, you have four levers, there, there, there, and there, if the temperature monitor don't stop rising past the middle of the yellow zone, then you can use the emergency cooling, but be ready for repairs imediately after it's done, as the steam core will take damage because of the forceful cooldown, an i clear?"
I get a chorus of yes sir, before we go our way.
After getting into the cargo area i sit in a hidden spot before dosing off.
