Following the little map on the mission request, I walk out of sect grounds, down the mountain, and into a forest with a small density of twenty meters tall trees.
After walking for some kilometers, I found a clearing with a small farm inside.
This farm has three wooden houses, some hundreds of square meters of a single type of plant growing, and a man walking in the middle of the farm, watering the field.
The noise of my heavy hooves hitting the ground are more than enough for the man to know that I was coming long ago. And as i come out of the forest, he waves at me with a surprised face.
Walking to the edge of the field, I form a small hand of light and force field, and shake his hand.
“Hi, I'm Ragdurr, I am here for your request for help.” I say with a smile.
He shakes the floating hand, and while looking up at my eyes, says. “Oh, that's great! Today, at night, all these Moon Seeking Flowers shall blossom, I need help protecting them while I harvest.” Says the farmer while pointing at the field of one meter tall plants, with black leaves and a white bulb, ready to blossom.
“Protect from what? I thought stealing was prohibited on sect grounds.” I ask.
“It is, but beasts do not follow any rules. When Moon Seeking Flowers bloom, they emit a particular type of ki, and all the Moon Chaser Rays love to eat them. So your job shall be to kill off any Moon Chaser Rays that get close.” The farmer explains.
“How strong are they?” I ask.
“Most of them normally are at the middle of the Ki liquefied stage, once I saw one at the peak of the liquefied stage. But the stronger ones usually move north, for some reason.” He finishes.
“Ok, I think I can do it, them. I have an idea for a formation that probably will help, where can I place my forge for a moment?” I ask, taking the forge out of my ring.
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
“Anywhere over there, just make sure the heat doesn't get close to the flowers.” He says, pointing at a place near the edge of the clearing, and going back to work.
Turning the forge on, and making a hundred poles, all one meter tall and three inches wide is the easiest part, in my mind I already have a prototype of how this array shall work.
Using my light creation array to create their shape, forcefield rune to make them resistant, and link rune to be able to control them at will. I place all the one hundred array anchors around the farm, and by feeding in mana, one hundred mana constructs of three meters long serpentine dragons rise into the air.
Each pole is inscribed with the full Dragon Construct array, and when linked with me, the whole can fuse into one single huge formation.
Bringing each dragon construct near me, I draw on their scales a Flame Armor Array, and using other two intermediate runes that the elder gave me at the test, a Mana Gathering Rune and a Mana Storage Rune, i inscribe these two into their head, fusing them into the construct creating a kind of array dantian, that shall help me in the mana expenditure.
On each of their four claws I draw a sharpness and durability array, linking them to the mana gathering array in their head.
Using ten other formation poles, I place them near the edges of the flowers, creating a dome of forcefield around the plants.
Finishing the inscription some hours after the sun has set, the only moment in the month where the moon is in the right place for the light to shine down the hole and on the sect is about to begin.
As the light shines through the clouds, an incredible perfume is expelled by all the flowers, its sweet and heavy scent impregnates the farm and nearby forest.
Big plums of pollen are released as the fist sized flowers open. Their interior is of a clean white, with hundreds of stamens full of pollen.
Focusing my attention to the max, I scan the skies looking for the Moon Chaser Rays. Illuminated by the moonlight, as if rain falling from the sky, I find hundreds of two meters wide, white Rays falling in our direction.
Controlling all the dragons to raise their heads, I command them to spend ten percent of their ki into a tongue of fire, forming a dome of fire as the first Rays get close.
The first wave of hundreds of Rays is hit, passing through the wall of fire, and smashing head first into the Force Shield Array above the farm, sending blood to all directions.
After the fire dissipates, I am able to see dozens, maybe a hundred corpses piled on top of the barrier. And the remaining rays managed to fly around the array, flying in a circle, creating a dome of Moon Chaser Rays above us.
Waiting for their next attack, I make the dragons fly around me slowly, turn their Flame Armor Array on, and wait.
Sending a quick pick through the barrier, I can see that the farmer already managed to reap one tenth of the farm in these ten seconds, so only ninety more seconds.
Some seconds after, some of the more braven rays dive down, aiming for a quick slash with their tails on a dragon.
As the ten rays attack, I mobilize three dragons nearest to each one of them to fly up explosively, and slash with their claws.
Given that the dragons are ki constructs, their explosive speed is not limited by the dense atmosphere or gravity, so the rays are taken by surprise. Being cut by their sharp as swords claws, and burned by the flame armor, the Moon Chaser Rays die almost instantly.
