“Oi kid, stop with that light already. Go to sleep.” Yells the inn owner from behind the bar.
Getting out of my trance of meditation and practice, I notice that I've been trying my best for hours to get the ball of light to change shape. But all I managed was to make it change colors.
The manual says i need to give it intent, but its harder than i thought.
Going back to my room, I almost instantly fall asleep.
Waking up the next morning, I rented the courtyard again, and created a bracelet for my right hand with an array that I just created, using old runes and those two new ones. I managed to come up with a new array.
Flamethrower Array.
It is as simple as the name says, but will help me a lot.
Putting the bracelet on, and aiming it inside my forge, the most heat resistant thing I have access to right now, I turn the array on.
At first, thanks to me only providing the minimum amount of ki possible to start the array, it only expels a little fire. Enough to start a fire, but not enough to kill someone.
Turning the ki intake to the maximum, creating a three meters long tongue of fire, I see the two first heat crystals, on the side of the forge, turn completely white, but the third is barely touched.
“So around a thousand, that's good for-wait, the forge has a way to make fire hotter.” As I mumble to myself, I take my booklet, go to the page where I know I've noted down the array, and inspect it.
It's a simple array to create air, but if I combine it inside the flamethrower array, it should be a lot more powerful.
Storing the bracelet to sell later, I turn the forge on again, and start over from the start to make the bracelet.
Almost as fast as the last one, I finished inscribing the new array.
Pointing the bracelet to my forge again, I turn it on. At the start it is basically the same, starts small and gets to a three meters long tongue of fire. As I activate the second stage of the array, the flame grows to seven meters, and the heat goes all the way to three thousand degrees.

“Yeah baby!! Let's go!” I yell.
After having dinner, selling the first bracelet to the inn owner for a hundred and thirty silver, meditating for some hours, and going to sleep. I wake up, gather my things up and start to head out of the city.
Opening the map, the next city is a thirty day trip by the road, or I can go up and down one mountain and make it in fifteen days.
The first seven days are more of the same. I meditate, train my body, draw some runes on paper, and continue walking up the mountain.
Thanks to my size and weight, everything that could be hunted by me hears me kilometers before I see them, so I only managed to eat my rations up to now.
After arriving at the top of the mountain, I decided to stay here for a few days. I am already making the shorter path, so one day of rest won't kill me.
Looking down from up here I can see kilometers deep into the continent.
The next city even looks close, but from this distance all I can directly see is the giant wall protecting it.
Two words that can describe here till the horizon are mountains and green. There's thousands of mountains in my path. With as many trees as there are stars in the universe.
Talking about the stars, today is one of the rarest days in this continent where one can see them.
The sky is always so cloudy, with yellow clouds covering the dome even when it's not going to rain, that one can barely see the sun.
But once or twice a year the sky has some gaps in the clouds, and we can see the night sky.
I love looking at the stars. Maybe one of them is my previous Sun, maybe someone else is looking at me from one of those stars as well.
And while thinking and dreaming, I fall asleep.
Peck!
Suddenly I am awakened by a sudden pain in my back.
Getting on my feet, I look around to find who is attacking me, but all I can see is the dimly illuminated surroundings.
It's the middle of the night, and the fire I had is barely alive, with only the red of the charcoal still hot.
Taking my sword out of my ring, turn the fire on, i get ready to fight this invisible enemy.
For some seconds I can't hear nor see anything, and as the tension goes up, I finally hear a soft wind sound, as if something was falling.
Rising my sword above my head blindly, I hit nothing, and felt another peck at me back. but at least I see what is hitting me.
As the assailant stops on the ground, and flaps its wings to fly out of my range again, I can look into its eyes.
A ten meters long bird. Its black feathers are as dark as the night, the beak sharp and feet with talons as big as swords. It looks at me as it flaps its wings to go back into the sky.
Swinging my sword, but hitting nothing but air, as it is way faster than me. I changed my sword to my left hand, and started sending ki to my right hand, but not pouring it into the bracelet yet.
It doesn’t take long for the sound for the falling bird to appear again. Noticing it comes from my left, I raise my hand and pour all my ki into the array, activating the second step.
The bird was fast enough to change course, but I still hit its left wing.
As the bird falls face first into the rocky floor, my sword is fast behind it, aiming for its head.
BANG! KRYAAA!!
The bird flapped its burning wing and managed to take its head out of the way, but my sword still managed to connect with its intact wing. Cutting straight through it and creating a crater in the ground.
Taking a step back, I look at the bird while breathing heavily.
It poses no threat to me now. One wing is still burning and melting, the other is no longer connected to the body. The bird is screaming and convulsing on the ground, as the more than three thousand degrees flame does its best to spread and burn its body into cinders.
Taking pity on it, I raise and bring down my sword one last time.
