Chapter 3

I woke up on my third day as a trainer to become the very best. Of what? I have no idea. But I will be the best.

Looking around I see the different Pokemon that I call my team. Leaf is snuggling closely with Tabs while Char is placing his tail close to Ralts... SHOOT I FORGOT. A sigh uncontrollably exits my mouth after my major blunder. Well, I was planning on talking with Ralts yesterday about me catching her but I might as well do it after she wakes up.

I try and get up as soon as possible and exit the tent, after washing up Tabs appears out the tent and looks at me before chittering excitedly and starts using Rapid Spin. She stops when I ask her, mainly because everyone else was still asleep and no one should wake Leaf up early, but it seems she was just confirming about whether she actually learnt the move yesterday seeing how happy she is.

After cleaning up Tabitha from her mold that she seems to regrow every single day I then place it into my bag before taking out my teams' bowls and start cooking their meal in a pot. Which I do by lighting up the branches underneath using my own flint and steal, gotta stay self-sufficient after all.

Soon after, everyone exits the tent with Leaf being first, of course, and Chardon exits last. Notably, everyone perks up when I place their bowls filled with food in front of them, I only give Tabitha water since it's not like she can eat anything anyway since she's right now doing photosynthesis atop a tree before she came down to drink. Pineco can't eat anything but Forretress' are able to eat since they hide their real body underneath a shell of bug cocoon and steel.

After everyone, including myself, finish eating I start cleaning up the rest of my partners which lets me notice how Chardon sigh in pleasure whenever I brush his scales, who knew that he likes to keep clean, and Leaf keeps on wriggling whenever the brush or my hand stroke her back, specifically the spot right in front of her tail, before I move to the last of my party so I could talk with Ralts alone.

"Hey Ralts," an inquisitive 'Ra?' and I know I have her attention "I never had a chance of asking but do you wanna stay on my team?"

She quickly answers with a nod of her head.

"Well... do you want a nickname then?" She hesitates a little before shaking her head "That's fine, thanks for sticking around and sorry I caught you and didn't do this sooner. I was just too tired yesterday." She seems to sympathize with me on that, seeing how she pats my leg in gently.

I then start on an important aspect of being a Pokemon trainer. Training.

I instructed Tabitha to help Leaf with using her ranged moves and only after Leaf has some success in aiming and strengthening her moves should they start using Quick Attack and Rapid Spin as movement techniques. Meanwhile Chardon was instructed to use Ember inside his Smokescreen in an attempt to learn how to master the black and smoky move, of course to make this more interesting I also marked a few spots on nearby boulders, trees, and dirt to continue his accuracy training. Ralts would be with me to test her Confusion and Disarming Voice while using the different levels of Calm Mind.

Ralts and I moved to a different area, with a notebook I wasn't gonna use for drawing, where there were a bunch of boulders for us to test her capabilities. We unfortunately had to redo the experiment in the middle of the testing because her Confusion started immediately improving by the third use of it with her second boost of Calm Mind.

During the testing we had to stop for a 15 minute break during her use of attacks when Ralts shifted into a plus five Calm Mind. Her energy reserves aren't bad but they definitely need some improvement. On the plus side a book I read on special attack users said that if she keeps a passive plus one effect of Calm Mind at all times she should be able to increase her recharge rate alongside helping her actually keep calm.

After finishing the first testing she let go of her plus six energy effect and took a ten minute break before we redid the process two more times. I can now somewhat accurately see how Ralts can fare against Pokemon near or above her level and I think I can properly gauge just how strong she needs to be. After all, just buffing without having a proper idea of the opponent can mean wasted energy through the constant energy used by buff moves within battle and sometimes using them is just overkill.

The whole thing took about an hour and ten minutes and by the time we came back towards my team I could see that they made multiple improvements in their abilities.

Firstly Chardon. He could now use Smokescreen and isn't affected by his move if he doesn't wanna be but he found a way to use the black smoke as an excuse for accuracy training seeing as he was aiming at the boulders I marked which had scorch marks that were closer to target the more recent the attack was. He immediately came to us when I called for him and he showed that he somehow was able to make the debuff move only affect those he wishes, seeing that Ralts and I could see through it just fine and when he reused the move I could see but Ralts couldn't.

Secondly Leaf. She seems to have been able to strengthen her Swift seeing as they're properly star shaped. Moreover, she seems to have moved onto using Swift and Mud Slap in a pattern while attacking, with Mud Slap on Tabs' Swift before using Swift in an attempt to get to Tabitha and maybe nick her. Already her accuracy with Mud Slap is improving as she only hits it on large clumps of her opponents' star attack seemingly at the right time. There still are flaws, like how it takes around three of Leaf's Swift to take out one of Tabitha's or how she misses Mud Slap completely, but the improvement can be seen. The weirdest thing is that she wacks away any Swift that gets too close with her tail.

Thirdly Tabitha. She seems to have tried to strengthen and increase the amount of her Swift she can dish out to try and force Leaf to train her hardest. She also seems to have continued to use Rapid Spin with Swift and had laid down Spikes at certain areas to force Leaf into dodging the field effects. Her Swift was already amazing so I guess that there isn't gonna be much improvement from there.

Oh that reminds me... Leaf can learn Calm Mind as well. That means I might have Leaf as the all-rounder of my team... then Tabs can be a tank while Char can shift to a melee fighter, that'll leave Ralts as my dedicated special attacker. Team composition is important after all.

Wait no, Leaf has a terrible nature for special attackers so she can't be an all-rounder.

Since everyone trained as best as they could while I was away I should start hitting the road again so I can make it to Viridian City. I pack up everything and head off with Ralts on my backpack reading the league rule book (how did she get that, she never opened the bag) while Tabs and Leaf are playing tag using Quick Attack and Rapid Spin, seems that Leaf easily catches up to tag Tabitha but my bug type positions herself so she can immediately go for the tag back, and Chardon is at my side trying to breath out a gout of flames while doing punches in one-two jabs; Char is only doing this because I want to make sure he has as many points of attack as possible.

About a while in Leaf had to tap out and now rests on my head. Meanwhile Ralts is too tired to practice her energy training so she's resting in her pokeball which she looked at for a little bit before smiling and entering it. I had to stop for a little cuz Leaf needed to use a bathroom so I stayed nearby while she was at a bush. Char's flame was starting to wane by the time Leaf started sleeping on my head so I sent both of them into their balls before I continued on my walk. Since nobody else was around Tabitha, Arceus bless her soul, stayed on my bag and wouldn't leave me alone since she was scared I might get hurt. Definitely not an excuse to photosynthesis on the road.

The biggest problem is that I'm bored... huh. Bored is a funny word.

"-hat's why I think waters wet." A kid who might've been a fighting type in her past life finished.

"Water isn't wet though, it only makes other things wet." Said a shy girl who was too into this argument to fluster.

"Ladies please, if you two keep on talking like this I might just stay here until Evo comes... then I might enjoy some peace and quiet," interrupted a boy with grey hair "speaking of Evandros... why do you think he stayed back?"

"Could be tons of things really like his mom wanted a few more moments 'fore they say goodbye, he might know some super secret training, or he might've known about something like a Latias nearby."

"Um... I don't know about the Latias Amy, but maybe he might have some secret training for his Charmander and Leaf." voiced the shy girl "Or he might not want to go on a journey with m-us. He might not want to go on a journey with us" She said the last sentence hurriedly

"Nah Mirielle, the guys nice, I mean he calls James 'Captain Slowbro' but there isn't any heat or smugness with it, its' just he doesn't really notice some things." Amy spoke "Like how he didn't notice I dyed my hair blue or how you've got a major crush on 'im," That got Mirielle to start blushing and blurting out denials on that last claim. "but yeah he just doesn't really notice stuff."

"I think that's only half the story." said the boy

"You would James." Amy retorted

"Do you guys ever notice how he always knows when something important is going on," Mirielle was listening intently to James while Amy was looking away but her ears were focused on the conversation "like, he always knows somethings up even if he didn't know the specifics and how he helps people having disputes or how he tries to warn people about upset or rampaging Pokemon. Heck you could have a mental breakdown and he'd have an ice cream in your face with a megawatt smile to cheer you up."

Amy got silent at the last bit, concern for her step-brother flashing in her eyes but one shake from the silver haired boys' head and she drops the subject.

Mirielle meanwhile was too lost in thought to notice this, instead thinking of the boy who wasn't scared of her and instead gave her a chance. The one who helped poke a hole in her shell of insecurities. She would stop her entire journey if it meant she could talk with him for a little longer. Maybe then she might have the courage to say 'I lo-

"Anyway how about we start thinking about who our other catches might be... I personally want a Slowpoke for the nickname and cuz it'd learn Flamethrower. But a Slakoth would be massive to catch, you know, cuz Slaking." James said

"I think a Pidgey from here might be the best thing I could take, but a Mankey from Route 23 would also be useful. I think I might take some other fighting types like Scraggy or Stufful... but maybe Tyrogue would be for the best." Said Amy

"I-I think that I'd like a Mimikyu or Snom or a Caterpie or a Ledyba or an Emolga or a Pachirisu or Cleffa or an Igglyb-" this list would continue on for quite a while which caused Amy to be interested in the cute Pokemon and gave James ample time to send out and feed his newest partner in secret before sending it back into its ball and refocus on the convo.

-red Bored Bored Bored Bored Bored. Great now I'm bored saying bored. In my defense I did just say bored 24,734 times. 24,735 times now.

Its getting dark now so I should really start getting camping but I feel like walking in the dark. Sue me. I send out my entire team after they had their naps and place Tabs on a strap of my bag like a decoration you'd put to show off at school with strict orders to nap now that everyone else is awake, Leaf and Ralts are at my shoulders, while Chardon is on my head as my very own makeshift headlight.

I keep walking for what must have been an eternity but was probably an hour of night traveling before my feet decide that they hate me and get all wobbly. Weak. I decide to heed the message my body is trying to convey and go into an open field with a bunch of flowers nearby just a little off the road.

When I get to the flower field a bunch of Bellossom, Sunflora, Sunkern, some Oddish, an Ivysaur, and a Vileplume are having a dance. It actually looks really fun and before I know it Leaf and I are dancing with the wild Pokemon, though I had to tap out by the fifteenth rotation since my legs were killing me. I did ask if there was anyone that wanted to come with me to be my Pokemon but there weren't any takers to that so I dropped the subject and instead fed my team before going to sleep.

Oh Wait, I stop before I enter my tent where the rest of my team were starting to sleep except Tabs who already clocked out, I completely forgot a crucial aspect of training Pokemon.

Battles.

"If anyone is awake tomorrow could you guys help train my team a bit," I can trust that the docile Pokemon have at least enough experience between themselves to be able to protect their home. Judging by their nods they do have some power to them.

I head into my tent for some sleep with thoughts on how each of those Pokemon might help my team.

But one thing strikes odd to the creature.

'Why is there no Ash Ketchum in this universe'

He stretches his perception within his multiverse, his domain. But not further. Never further.

In almost every universe within his domain this one boy is always there. In his worlds where Pokemon, his creations, exist. And in all of them he is the one to save the day.

So the fact that such a crucial universe should not hold one is quite, how to put it, ssstrange. Yes. Strange.

This universe requires more mythical creatures to assist the beings within thus Arceus decreed three creatures into existence.

A blue Mew, to find a worthy protector of the people and Pokemon.

A pink Celebi, in hopes of seeing through the best timeline.

Finally a turquoise and purple Cresselia, to assist she who made the Milky Way.

Now... to find that Solgaleo who face painted the creator of all beings when he decided to take a nap. It took the power of a Lugia's Hydro Pump to clean all that mess out.
