I made my way through the camp. Everything here was falling apart, if it wasn't because it was riddled with bullets then it was because it was built too quickly. It didn't matter though, we had only planned to be here a couple of weeks at most.
I don't know if this is the best time to tell him, or if I should tell him at all. T told me never to tell him anything about her but I feel like this has to be an exception. Even with the strict orders to keep our abilities under wraps my first instinct when I found out was to jump to him right away but I was able to stop myself.
What will he think? Will he be angry, sad, happy? I can never tell with him even though I try so hard to understand him. To others he might seem like a bad person, maybe even a psychopath, but I've seen what he's done. He's gone out of his way to save me so many times he has the right to take my life if he so wished. He's a good man, he's just willing to do things that most people wouldn't. He does what would haunt a normal person without blinking. He hasn't just saved my life, he's saved my soul.
I walk into the command center tent scanning intently for him but there were only a few 'meat shields' as T would call them. The lower-ranking soldiers that he didn't have the time to bother with.
"Where is T at?"
One of the men takes the cigarette out of his mouth and points to the right.
"He's on the front lines. Said something about us being useless motherfuckers and that he would take care of it himself."
Damn, he tends to do this whenever the missions are taking too long. Especially if the mission isn't a covert one. Maybe I should jump to him after all. Screw this, I'll just have to run.
I ran a few hundred feet in the direction before stopping. The front lines covered a large area so I won't know exactly where he's at. I Sprinted over to the people who walked by, they all seemed like they were busy but this was too important. I grabbed one man and he looked at me surprised I had touched him.
"What the fuck do you want?"
"Please, have you seen T around?"
"Who's T?"
"The guy I arrived here with. He's the one who took over the operation here. The current person in charge!" I wish I could remember what name he was going by but we've done so many of these non-covert missions now that he's started to just make up random names, and I can't keep up with them. He always chooses weird names that he enjoys making people call him by but that only makes it harder to remember each one.
"Oh, you mean that piece of shit who is taking our hard work and throwing it down the drain!"
I don't have time for this! Every time we come bail a squad out of a bad situation we're met with hostility as if we're trying to take all the glory for ourselves. What they never understand is they wouldn't have made it out of the situation at all if we hadn't shown up. I would normally get into an argument with any person who spoke bad about T, even if he doesn't care what they say, but I just don't have the time. I need to tell him as quickly as possible.
"Yes, now tell me what direction is he in!"
"That bastard is set up over at the fifth holding tent. The whole fucking point of it is to hold the ground but he's saying we need to try and advance it."
I take off in the direction of it while he is still mid-sentence. T is planning to make his big move is what it sounds like. A lot of people are probably going to die but it's the price that has to be paid for our mission to be completed. I wish I could wait until after he finishes but if my hunch about him is right, then he'll want to know as soon as possible. If I'm wrong this will just be another one of the many times he's laughed at me for doing something stupid.
The closer I get the more the world is drowned out by the sound of the artillery fire. I can see a large group of men who seem to be standing around and yelling. They must be the people who were in charge before T got here, that means T should be--
"Stop, who are you?"
"I'm Jumper! I came here with the guy in charge and I need to speak with him right away!"
"Well, he's having a talk with the real people in charge so they can't be bothered right now."
"This is important, let me pass!"
"Nothing could be more important than what they're discussing right now. What they do will decide the fate of everyone here! Get LOST!"

I really didn't want to have to do this. I reach out and place my hand on his chest, grabbing a fist full of his uniform.
"Get the fuck off--"
The man in front of me disappears and I now have a clear path to T. I had jumped the man in a hurry so I'm not sure where he ended up but it shouldn't be far. As I sprinted towards T I saw a figure out of the corner of my eye. Not stopping my gate I turned my head to view it, him. The man I had teleported had been dealt the worst hand possible, he was now in the middle of us and the enemy. His body was practically evaporated by the countless rounds that passed through him.
I'm sorry.
Finally, I make it to the group and push my way past them.
"T!"
"Jumper? What the hell are you doing here? You should be prepping for our assault, do you have everything ready?"
"No T I haven't finished"
As we spoke I could hear the voices of the other, much older men.
"Who the fuck is this, get him out of here dammit!"
"Is he ignoring us to talk to that boy? You think you can waltz in here, take over what we've worked so hard for, and then IGNORE US!"
"Come on Jumper this isn't like you, go finish what I need done."
"No, T, it's about her. The one you have me looking after."
T steps in close to me and lowers his voice to a normal speaking one. With all the sounds around us, he might as well be whispering in my ear. "What the hell do you think you're doing bringing her up when other people are around! I told you I never wanted to know anything about her."
"T, she died."
After I said those words T's face changed to something unrecognizable. I'm positive that no one has ever seen this face and lived. Even the men surrounding us, without being able to hear what he was saying, stopped there yelling at a moment's notice. T steps even closer to me than before and wraps his hand around my neck.
"If your lying to me I will gut you right here... Now say that again."
"It's true, I swear T, she must have died recently. I promise you I was checking up on her all the time so it couldn't have been long."
The hand around my throat began to shake. This is it, he's going to kill me, but it's okay. My life is his to take. Wait, is he... is that, tears? His face was still contorted in the same fear-inducing expression as before, the only thing changed being the one stream of tears that ran down each cheek.
"How."
"How? Oh... From what I can tell she was murdered."
His hand tightened and his eyes seemed to look through me, "WHO!!"
"I... It was her own son. If somebody was planning on killing her I might have noticed but, I would have never thought..."
A voice came from the group of men and I felt a hand pull me away from T. One of the older men's hand yanked me back and was now facing me, screaming.
"I don't know who the fuck you think you are but we have a life or death matter that we--"
Blood splattered on my face from his eye. Instead of his pupil that should have been looking at me, it was now the tip of a large knife, the kind T liked to use. The man's body collapses soon after the blood hit my face and I couldn't help but look at T in shock, everyone did. He placed his foot onto the back of the man's head and pulled out the knife with a few tugs and wiggles.
"I told her... She wanted a kid, my kid... I told her... I gave her what she wanted but... I told her, it wouldn't come out right. It would come out like me."
The group of men finally regained their senses and started reaching for their guns and yelling. T opened their throats in a matter of seconds. Still holding one by the head as the man bled out T spoke.
"I made sure to stay away from it so that the damn thing wouldn't turn out like me. I stayed away. That, thing. I'll kill it. I'll KILL THAT FUCKING KID!! AHHHHH!!!!"
----------------------------------------
I found him laying out in the middle of the two camps. He was sitting on a younger-looking man who must not have been much over eighteen. T was carving up his face, gouging out his eyes, cutting off his ears, and in between each he was beating the face with his fists.
This was the man who had saved my life countless times, the man who I would have died for, the man I would have let kill me if he wanted to, but I was scared. I was scared as I approached him. After all he's done for me how could I be scared?
His breathing was heavy but considering what he had just done it was nothing. I didn't dare reach out to him, only calling to him from a distance of a few feet.
"T." Though I spoke quietly my voice carried to him, there was no more sound of artillery to muffle it after all. He didn't stop what he was doing but he did glance over his shoulder at me. I forced my mouth to move.
"T, they're all dead. You got them all."
He didn't say anything for a long time. I stood there staring at his back as I listened to the sounds of metal grinding against bone and flesh ripping from its place. When he finally spoke I was almost too frightened to respond and because of this, I couldn't understand what he was trying to say.
"Where?"
"Where? What do you mean T? Where is her body?"
"What the fuck would I want with her body now! She's not in it, she's gone, it's nothing but meat. Where is her son?"
