“Over there, Toru!” Hitomi exclaimed, pointing towards one of the Dispensers located at the edge of their current objective area. However, a lingering concern remained: the possibility that the Dispenser was being used as bait to lure participants into a trap.
Their fears were somewhat alleviated by a dramatic diversion. A heavily armored vehicle, with four spiked wheels and an ominous design, roared through the trenches with alarming speed. The machine seemed to defy the terrain, treating the rugged landscape as if it were mere bumps. As it approached, the mechanical guard dogs began firing endless streams of bullets, but their attacks were futile against the vehicle’s robust armor.
“This is our chance!” Toru shouted, seizing the moment. He and Hitomi quickly made their way through one of the trenches, taking advantage of the chaos to advance towards their goal.
Suddenly, Hitomi let out a panicked cry as a figure appeared, sprinting alongside them. “Relax! I’m just trying to get to the Dispenser too!” the stranger called out, trying to calm the situation.
Toru didn’t hesitate. He swiftly sent a “Temporary Ally (1h)” contract to the newcomer, who readily agreed. As they continued running at a synchronized pace, the stranger introduced himself with enthusiasm. “I like you guys! The name’s Elvis.”

“Toru and Hitomi, respectively,” Toru replied, acknowledging their new ally.
Elvis’s profile was quickly revealed:
Title: [Unknown]
Science: Materiacraft (B)
Cognition: ??? (B)
Elvis’s Materiacraft proficiency granted him a degree of control over materials and their properties, a useful ability in many scenarios. His skills were tailored for both personal and environmental manipulation. “Camouflage” allowed him to disguise himself and others, while “Obscure” affected the environment, likely contributing to the pervasive fog enveloping the area.
The Dispenser was an unusual sight, reminiscent of old arcade machines, but with a high-tech twist. It featured two machines, back to back, likely designed for simultaneous resource withdrawal.
With the Dispenser in sight, the trio pressed forward. The noise of gunfire was omnipresent, coming from all directions, as if the entire area had erupted into chaos. As they finally reached their destination, Elvis, instead of immediately focusing on the Dispenser, turned his weapon towards Hitomi.
