Chapter 31

That was right, even if Alaric didn’t read the book, he could still see young love when he was in the same room. Keen seemed to have fallen in love at first glance, his body had numerous restrictions on it, making him age slower. The older he got, the slower he aged, and he’d probably look like twenty-five forever at one point. The reason for this was that his path was one of physical restriction, so it was best if he also put some on his own as a training and experience.

Growth-restrictions are widely used in his path, as they also have many benefits. Normally Alaric couldn’t agree with such things, but there are many special circumstances, and especially now it seemed alright. If he was truly going to have a relationship with anyone, then it was best if he took an Elf like Varia, another person that has very slow growth.

I just have to tell them to let their bodies age together, so they at least seem to be of the same age. If it goes like this, then someday Keen will look like twenty but she’d look like she just became a teenager. That is too weird to the eyes, at least mentally they are on a comparable level, or I’d never have accepted Varia into the group.

This is a good thing anyways, Varia and Keen can be together, making Varia even more sure of staying and maybe even joining the Violet family. Yep yep yep, I can put back a bit of my prejudices and morals to have a preferable outcome, not weird at all, nope, I have no issue, absolutely fine with this stuff. Thank the gods they are at least both minors visually…

Keen left for his room and Illic joined Alaric as they went to their room together. They took off their clothes and laid down in their bed, hugging each others’ waist, sharing warmth. Alaric’s eyes became a bit cloudy as he had to confirm once again. He had done it maybe three times already, but his fear didn’t go away and it awoke again each day.

He stole the body, personally he was fine with that, but he couldn’t stop worrying about Illic. So, he asked “What I said…”

Illic interrupted me, he gently touched my face and put away the stray hair as he looked into my eyes, confident and full of determination “I liked you in the past.” His eyes become brighter and the arms around my waist tighter “Now, I love you.”

I look down, away from his determined eyes, a few tears stream down my face “Mhmm” I mumble, as if I truly try to hold my tears away. But, in truth, I am very elated. It’s not that I am not worrying, but I knew the answer, what I am doing with my affirmation is not only affirming my own thoughts and understanding, but also giving Illic several chances to affirm his thoughts.

Would I accept him saying no? Of course NOT! There are many ways to force him to say yes, but that is below me, anyone mind-manipulating their ‘love’ into ‘loving’ them does not understand the concept of love and should just have a few fun-buddies. I would still do something if he said no, but I wouldn’t force him to love me, I’d be fine if he won’t be able to love anyone else.

This night was spent in deep embrace. The group had eaten already before teleportation, and Varia was already drinking evening tea, so she surely ate too.

Light came from the sole ‘window’, which was a small one left above their apartment’s door, the living room became brighter and soon it also became lively. Everyone woke up, this was the day the ship would embark on the two-week journey from the southern continent to the central.

Kendrick went out to look for information, soon he came back and told everyone that the ship would go out in just two hours. They would have a bit of time to go down from the ship and buy breakfast if they wanted to, but in all honesty, the sole shops on this high platform were way too expensive and the ship would soon provide food, so there was no need.

Still, they went out and looked at the movement on deck for a minute. The bright sun lightened everything, and they could see more, but just before they went a few steps ahead to truly see the surroundings, loud noises came from all around.

“Alright, let’s go back fast. The other passengers are now boarding, no need to be around as long as so many people move about. Thank the gods we boarded yesterday. Are we supposed to be together with that mass of people? BAH! Let’s go, fast!” Alaric was complaining as he looked at the direction of the white bridge, which was much more stable that it should. It would be best if it suddenly crashed and the passengers on it fell down, while no other board the ship. Yeah! What a great idea, let’s do that!

Jokes aside, Alaric already went back to the rooms took out his notebook from his mask. The others had other things to do, as in, sit around and laze. Illic cultivated a bit on the side, Varia was trying to heal her injuries with thought alone, which was extremely slow, Keen was moving around the apartment and cleaning.

He soon arrived in front of Varia’s, blushing a bit, he turned and asked “Ehhm, should I also clean your room? I am usually doing it for everyone, so don’t worry!”

Varia broke away from her healing process, she probably lost the whole process of the 0.000000001% healing she did. That was the work of ten minutes! If she kept at it, then she’d only need like twenty years to heal a full percent! Elfs life long, two thousand years to heal from an injury is pretty fine.

“You…” Varia looked at Keen then at Alaric, who although reading his notes, gave a nod. Reassured, she nodded too “That would be nice, thank you.” Any valuable she had would be on her body anyways, and she didn’t really leave anything. But she was used to servants, so she struggled cleaning the room, still leaving it quite untidy.

Alaric was writing his notes, Illic was cultivating, Kendrick was checking the finances and occasionally also mate notes like his lord, Keen took care of everyone’s needs and Varia was healing her injuries with each second.

With this, day after day passed. Alaric and Illic occasionally had fun, they also visited the deck and enjoyed the sight several times. Today, a week later, was such a day. They were enjoying the view, knowing that this would most likely be the last day they could do so.

The ship would go into turbo mode afterwards, having reached a dangerous region above the ocean they were flying around. Although there were pacts and agreements for the flight routes, some regions were simply too dangerous and hidden. The turbo was there to boost the speed anyways, so it was best to just use it right above the highly dangerous situation.

The couple was on the east wing, close to their ship apartment. Looking down, a lot was happening, and they were chatting happily.

“Why do we need to check the ocean? It’s not like this is the first time we see it!” a shrieking voice came from behind them, they ignored it. This wasn’t the first time they heard such things, some arrogant people he came to ignore.

“Ulli, stop being so dramatic! This is the last day we can see it, afterwards the turbo will go on for five full days, sprinting through the middle section of the waterway!”

“Alia, you’ve said this already so often! We’re going to the central continent to join the main family! Father said that uncle was a sixth circle mage!” the murmurs of other people quietened.

The arrogant shrieking girl seemed to take joy on that as she continued “Father said that we’re talented, so he used a lot of the family savings and send us to uncle so he can find us a match! We’re nobility, we shouldn’t hang around these peasants!”

Many others moved away, and we were about to move too, but apparently, we were too slow and Ulli looked at us. With our masks we might seem suspicious, but there were more people hiding their faces, so it shouldn’t be an unusual sight.

Ulli was surprised at my face as she pointed, like a peasant she claimed others to be, and talked once more in her annoying voice “What are you! A clown? Do you not know this is the east wing? This is for the important people! You there! SERVANT! Do you not see him? Why are you not sending him back from where he came?!”

Wow, wow, wow, I know this isn’t earth, but the wording is really not cool. “What does the lady want?” I ask, the smile on the clown became a thin line and the eyebrows formed a frown. This was a feature I added these past few days, a moving face that shows what I want it to.

The servant is confused why he was called, he looked at me and said “Your lordships, I am sorry, is there an issue? My lady, both lords are indeed living in the east wing, there is no need to worry! But even then… all passengers are allowed to move around the whole deck, we have cleaned it!”
