Chapter 21

Smiling, to Alaric, it sounded like a done deal “Great, how about I take it from you?”

The man was surprised and was about to ask, but he was interrupted before he could even open his mouth properly “I won’t answer any questions you have. The answers won’t change your decision anyways. So, do you wish to let go of your humanity? There will be a cost, a few other things and stuff, but it just comes down to a Yes or No question.”

Falling into thought for just a second, the man couldn’t understand his own impatience as he answered with a simple and clear “Yes”.

“Great, come follow me.” Alaric went down with two people behind him and one next to him. The man peeked glances with Onaia on several occasions, but he never said anything. Illic took note of it and looked at Alaric as he whispered something only the two could hear.

Alaric chuckled and said “It’s fine, he’s somewhat talented enough, not comparable to you, but for her… it should be fine. He will also strengthen her Origin and make Assimilating even easier. I just hope that they are careful enough. Oh, come on, what did you expect? She is young and, unlike you or me, had never even thought of someone this way. A demon tribe has few descendants, and many are of various ages, her age category literally spans a hundred years while she’s like twenty.”

Thinking a bit more, Alaric looked at Onaia and told her “I don’t mind what you are doing, but for our plans, keep any ideas until after you fulfilled them. Look at me and Illic, we work so well because we have a clean cut, you can’t say that about yourself. And don’t you think of starting a harem, little girl! I know some of your demon tribes are very much into it, not like it’s a rarity among humans either. It’s not forbidden in our House either, but you better believe me when I say that I really despise such things.”

Onaia blushed and the man’s ears became somewhat red. He didn’t say anything, but he felt like he was just found stealing cookies. He didn’t know why he became to infatuated with the woman, he had seen the past marchioness a few times and every time he felt disgusted about her. He didn’t know why, but her behaviour was just not his style at all.

They soon arrived in the Ritual Chamber for the demon conversion ritual. Alaric looked at the man and said “Onaia here is not the past marchioness, she is still assimilating to her new body, but don’t look at her too much, she will soon transform into her true form.

Oh right, she is a demoness, and we are going to convert you into a demon too. Your dark affinity will be eaten by the newly produced demon affinity, so you will not only keep your strength, but you will also enhance it. Also, Onaia is from the Seer Tribe, which is known for their Mind and Illusion magic. The name might be irritating since you’d think of divination, but no, I think it wants to insinuate that they see through the ‘real’ you, no matter which mind or illusion magic you use.

Anyways, go into that circle and stand in the middle, we gotta do everything fast. You will become part of the seer tribe and have responsibilities, you’re also part of House Violet, even more so if you wish to have a closer relationship with the third head, Onaia, later on. Alright, no questions, I don’t have too much time. Onaia will explain everything to you.”

The man was confused as he was basically shoved into the circle by Alaric. He didn’t say anything and kept quiet. If the ritual was truly as they make it to be, then it would be good.

“Oianon, Arbiter of your Realm, Witness of countless Pacts! I beseech your presence, a servant of yours wishes to enter you gates and tribe!”

The ritual would need sacrifices to summon a devil such as Oianon, but the connection of the Blood Essence was enough. It would also be used for the rituals main stage.

“I see you again, mortal with hidden truth. Who intends to join our gates?”

“This one there. He wishes to enter the mighty Seer Tribe and serve under the leadership of Onaia van Violet, child of Yours.”

There was no real indication, but from the energy fluctuations, Alaric could make out a surprised and delightful vibe from Oianon, it was very fleeting and disappeared directly. The voice sounded once again, and the man in the centre seemed to be shy. He was meeting his future father-in-law, after all. Oianon seemed satisfied with the person as soon energy came from the ritual.

“Do thy wish to enter the Seer Tribe, take upon it’s responsibilities and serve in the mortal world for your lineage’s leader, Onaia van Violet?”

The man kneeled towards Alaric since he was the one conducting the ritual and technically the vessel through which the devil spoke. Of course, the devil materialised his voice in another form, but Alaric was still the anchor of the voice.

“I oblige to the will of the lord, take upon the responsibility of the Seer Tribe and serve!”

Blood came out of the single blood drop, and it expanded a lot, till it became a cocoon-like construct around the man. “Alright, my part is over from here on. Oianon, you can speak with your daughter, I will leave. Don’t worry, I can process your presence for the whole day if needed, so just talk to your hearts content.”

Alaric instantly left with Illic after these words fell. Outside, he found Kendrick, who presented him with four masks. “Great, thanks. I will instantly enchant them, this evening we will be visiting the Silent Travellers Emporium Branch.”

Illic asked after some contemplation “I do not remember there being a branch here.”

“Oh, they’re really a bit hidden if you don’t directly know them. There is a shop in the inner city, it sells art, mainly paintings of minor and unknown artists. This is the branch, as long as you mention it, they will function as such. It is similar to some rituals where you only need to know a specific realm and at most draw a ritual to call their strength forth. After all, creating a language is something only Origin Realms do, all the others use the common language.”

Alaric went to the main room and took some more of the black 5th circle paper. In his room, he thought for a second before he wrote three identical rune scripts on three different pieces. They were written in the void language, and the main thing they did was obscure the existence of something or someone. Basically, it sets the persons existence in every dimension besides the physical in a stasis that is void-like to anyone besides the person themselves.

Then, he added individual strengthening runes in different languages on the back of the paper. Once he finished everything, he put the paper on the full white masks. The outer side on which the existence obscurity lays became a frosted layer on top the mask, while the inner side with the strengthening runes engraved itself into the mask. The wearer would then become an aura all around them like a veil concealing them, while their inner strength is passively enhanced.

He went to the last mask, thinking a bit more, he added the same obscurity on the outer side, but he decided not to hide the true name, anyone reading it would only add to the effect of his title ‘one with a hidden yet able true name’. On the inside, he added a lot of runes in all the languages he knew, all of them different affinity boosts and mainly a boost to his essence recovery.

Lastly, he added concealment runes on the edge of each mask. He wrote with essence again, but because the black paper was already added to all the masks, this concealment became different of sorts. It became an outer layer, and anyone that wasn’t proficient in perceiving the truth would only see the outer layer.

The outer layer as a hair and eye colour changing one. For Alaric, his hair became purple while his eyes were gold. Illic’s would go from his sand-blonde to a dark black, the same went for Kendrick and Keen. Black hair and eyes, nothing special, but in contrast to the white mask, it would at least look interesting.

Finishing everything, he took out a purple robe from his closet and put it on. Then, he took his mask, when it touched his face, it felt like a breeze came by, because that was all the physical feeling he had towards it. He could perfectly see everything, there were holes for his eyes to look through, but in truth, he didn’t look through the openings.

He felt like there was nothing on his face, his breather was normal even though there was no way to breath with the mask. He could also smell, and he felt that, if he wanted to, he could even eat and drink with the mask. The same feeling would be present with the full white masks, which was even weirder, since they had no opening at all.
