Chapter 25

“Lefu, time to get up,” Violet kicked Lefu. “You got school today, so get ready.”

Groaning as he opened his eyes, Lefu glared into the mirror. I really want to skip as one hour of rest isn’t enough. What was even the last thing I learned in school? Well, what should I wear now? Lefu wondered looking at his clothing option.

His drawers were filled with cool colored pants while his shirts were warm colors. Grabbing a white shirt and dark blue, Lefu entered the bathroom. Short time later he exited with dripping hair and bright smile.

Lefu left his room and saw his father. He calmly walked over and “Gently” gripped Matt’s shoulder. “Good morning father,” he greeted through his teeth. You only returned after the marathon was done.

“Good morning, that marathon was exhausting,” Matt cheerfully replied. “Watching so many episode take it out of you.”

Lies, you disappeared for the whole thing, Lefu raged internal. You alone came back when she finished the latest season. What were you doing the entire time anyways?

“I brought back breakfast,” Matt pointed to the table. On the table was breakfast bagel with hashbrowns. When Lefu picked it up, he only got a wrapper as it been ate already. Unable to control his rage, Lefu punched Matt.

“That was a cruel joke!” Lefu yelled. “How dare you tempted my fragile heart.”

“What are you talking about?” Matt easily dodged. “Who could have ate it? I only left it there for few minutes.”

“Oh, that was for Lefu?” Violet asked without sign of guilt. “I ate it, it was delicious by the way.”

“So, it your fault,” Lefu shouted at her. “That was cruel. Now my fragile heart shattered into dust, How can it ever be repaired.”

Knock!

Lefu opened the door and Clare stood there. She wore red vest with black shirt underneath, while her skirt was matched. Her outfit outlined her body emphasizing her assets. He became mesmerized by the sight of her. Standing behind her, Bill was holding breakfast.

“Well invite them in son,” Matt called. “Or you just going to keep staring.”

Clearing his throat, Lefu stepped to side allowing them inside. The two entered with Bill placing the bag of food on the table. “Why are you guys here so early?” Lefu whispered to Bill.

“The young lady wants you to ride together to school ,” Bill replied.

Lefu now understood the reason for their appearance, but didn’t understand why she wants to ride together. Coming over so early and bringing breakfast, just for going to school together? There has to a more reas- is that a breakfast bagel. Lefu drooled over the bagel.

“Go ahead and eat,” Clare said. “We need to make a stop before going to school.”

“Where do we need to stop by?” Lefu asked between bites. “If it shopping can’t we just stop after school?”

Clare pouted, while looking away. Did I say something I shouldn’t? Lefu looked around in confusion. His mother just held her head in her hands while his father just shrugged. “She want to stop by a jewelry store, as a master jeweler in town this morning,” Bill whispered in Lefu’s ears.

“Sure we can stop by,” Lefu said. Why should I agree, you guys are the one taking me? Does Clare need some earrings or something? Lefu couldn’t think of reason why and slowly tossed the thought to the back of his mind.

After finishing their meal, Violet pushed them out the door. “Well, you better go before traffic gets bad,” was Violet excuse. Bill opened the car door and allowed the two to climb into the backseat. “Clare, what do you need from the jewelry store?” Lefu thoughtlessly asked.

“I want to look through the new selection of jewelry,” Clare replied with a slight coldness. The coldness surprised Lefu as it felt like forever since he last felt it. I don’t seems to say anything right today? Lefu felt wronged. How am I supposed to know what to say or not to say? I might need a list of what to say and what not to say.

The car just sat in silence until it arrived at the shop. Bill opened the door revealing a middle aged man. He wore a suit and bowed towards them. “Welcome to Jewelry of Ancient.” he said raising his head. “The ancestor has been expecting you and prepared a selection of accessories.”

The man spun around and entered the shop. Clare followed him in with Lefu, while Bill stood by the car. Inside the shop, Lefu saw thousands of different accessories. He saw earring, necklace, and rings. The man walked behind the counter and a old man appeared from the back room.

“Great grandfather Turtle,” Clare immediately said with warmth and smiles.

“Clare, it been ages since I last saw you. Do you have any idea how surprised I was when Camilla told me about your wedding in almost a month? I spent all night creating rings for you.” Turtles said making Clare blush. “I assuming this bright young man is the lucky.one.”

“Nice to meet you, I’m Lefu Delano,” Lefu politely introduced himself.

“What a polite young man now a days. You can call me great grandfather turtle or grandfather turtle.” Grandfather Turtle said. “So let me bring out the selection. Fair Warning some of these have grumpy personalities. So put them back if they resist you.”

Grandfather Turtle entered the back room, only to return with cart filled with rings and earrings. “I also have your mother’s order here. So let's begin-”

The cart began to shake as most of the rings try to run when Lefu looked at them. Quickly looking away the rings settled, while grandfather Turtle looked surprised. Quickly sorting out the rings that didn’t tremble in terror, only eight options remain.

The middle aged man pushed the cart back into the backroom. “Well, that was unusual as only intense Aether energy could frighten them to that extent,” whispered Grandfather Turtle. “If that true then I don’t know if these rings could hold up against that. Besides the ones I created last night are useless.”

“Well, that narrowed down quickly,” Grandfather tried to joked.

Lefu could only smile wry as he guess it was his fault. Stepping closer to get better look, five more rings began to tremble. He quickly looked over the remaining three. On the left a pair of rings were silver in color. Engraved around it were words of ‘Rise of the King of Wolves’ in ancient latin. In the middle was pitch black ring with a red gem. Engraved on the outside ‘Terror of the Night’ was written in Ancient Greek. As for the finally ring it was blue in color with a pearl. The engravings were ‘Lord of the ocean’ written in unknown language.

“These translation cards are really helpful,” Lefu said as he read over the cards.

“Lefu, remind me to have Kevin teach you ancient languages after school,” Clare replied.

It would be nice if the omni system gave me a skill, which allows me to master languages faster. Lefu complained but wasn’t worried a his memory allows him to memories anything seeing it once. The only problem is he can recall some of it when he needed it.

“Let’s try the vampire ring first,” Turtles said holding up the black ring. When Lefu reached towards the ring, the ring launched into nearby wall. “Cough, I meant the wolf ring,” he mention before the ring trembled with fighting spirit. “What about the merema-” the blue ring turned to water.

“Shen, grab the black box from my desk,” Grandfather Turtle said in grave tone. The middle aged man nodded before he entered the backroom. Few minutes later he returned hold an old box covered in weird symbols.

Shen gently placed the box down before the box began to shake heavily. The weird symbols lit up before they shattered. The top of the box burst opened and two blurs launched towards Lefu and Clare. “Ouch,” Both said as they felt something bite into them.

Lefu looked down to his hand and saw a ring on his figure. The ring slightly glowed red highlighting engravings in the black band. He looked over to Clares and saw hers had similar look but had white glow instead of red.

“It actually this pair of rings,” Grandfather Turtle mumbled. “It seems the empty throne is going to be taken up at long last. It seems their relationship hasn’t crossed the threshold to unlock the rings powers yet.”

“Grandfather Turtle, What going on?” Clare asked.

“Nothing to worry about,” Grandfather waved in calmly manner. “It seems that the pair of legendary rings chose their new masters. There is a legend saying whoever holds the rings can commands armies and change eras on a whim. But from the records and my knowledge I collected over six hundred years these rings are sleeping currently. As for how to awaken them I’m clueless.”

“What are the names for the rings?” Lefu asked. “Also how much for them?”

“Well I can’t really charge for these rings,” Grandfather Turtle replied. “The names for the rings are ‘The Eternal Rings’. If the records are correct the last time these appeared was when the last Immortal King and Queen were active.”

“If they are Immortal why does it sound like they are dead?” Lefu asked.

“No one knows where they went or where they are,” Clare answered. “Legends say they got bored and disappear while other say they ascended to godhood or died. The records say they were last scene three thousand years ago, since then the throne been empty. The fight has reached the point that one of the five candidates while take the throne soon.”

“The fight been going on that long?” Lefu shouted in surprise. “How hasn’t someone taken the throne yet?”

“Everytime there is a candidate, he is assassinated by the god of assassin.” Grandfather Turtle explained. “Everytime he does, a message is left saying he not worthy of the throne. Before you asked why doesn’t he just take up the throne. The answer is he rejected multiple times.”
