CHAPTER 8 DAY 6
I appeared in my room. I made sure I had everything. Before leaving I spent 48 minutes learning the basic flame weapon spell and prepared one of my daggers and cast the spell on it. Harrash was probably going to be upset that I was running late but oh well. The dagger when drawn felt very warm to the touch and had a flickering blue-red flame on it. It looked really cool. I hoped Regorak would find it acceptable. Before leaving the guild hall I went to the flame door and met with Regorak. I presented him the dagger. He looked it over swung it a few times and then nodded to himself. “A suitable weapon. You can have my mark and this skill book.” He touched me and I felt my wizard mark grow warm. The skill book was for Fire Magic.
Damn, I guess the request was not fulfilled beyond expectations. I purchased the tier 1 fire spell fire bolt. It was a good investment for 5 silver. As I was leaving I stopped by and saw Katrina. We talked for ten minutes and I told her I was leaving this morning to see her friend. I also purchased a tier 1 Earth spell from her, summon earth. I wanted it make raising the Earth skill easier.
I hastened my steps to Harrash’s hut. When I got there his boat was loaded and he was sitting on the bow mending a net. He yelled to me, “You’re late.” Without another word he jumped down and started pushing the boat into the waves. I rushed to join him, not saying a word. After the boat was out floating away he turned to me, “We will sail south and avoid the main islands. I expect I can get you to your island in 10 days.”
I mumbled an affirmative and sat down near the stacked gear with an oar. The boat was full of rations, water barrels and equipment. After me and Harrash rowed away from shore we raised the sail and Harrash took the rudder in the stern. I sat down and started to learn my books and scrolls.
Fire Magic 1 Tier 1 unlocked: +1 Charisma, Tier 1 fire spells can now be learned
Charisma? That was weird. I was hoping for something more useful. Oh well.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
Analyze Monster 1 Tier 1 unlocked: +1 Intelligence, analyze monsters up to one level higher
I tried to use the skill on Harrash but got the prompt he was not monster. I already new this. There were two other analyze skills, NPC and PC. I continued on with my work. I learned my two weapon attacks, heavy swing and quick stab. I stood up and practiced the sword arts while Harrash watched me. The footing was treacherous and I did sat down after a few minutes. I continued with my magic.
Summon Earth Earth, Tier 1, Summon 1 cu foot of earth for every 20 magic
Fire Bolt Fire, Tier 1, Range 60, Damage 10+, Charge 2M/5D
The fire bolt charged the same as the rockball but had less base damage. I didn’t have time to ponder the game creators logic right now.
I had spent quite a bit of time as each skill and ability took 48 minutes to learn. Harrash for his part had remained quiet and just steered the boat.
“Harrash, do you know about the outworlders?” I asked. He turned to look at me, the sun had long weathered his face.
“Eh? Yes I knew you to be one. Is this where you tell me you are going to lay down and sleep for a day or two?” Wow this was easier than I had thought. The game mechanics had to explain ‘logging out’ the NPC population. “Ya spirit will be returning to another plane for a while to restore itself. Sounds like bullshit to me but whatever. Ya paid me so whatever ya need I will do my best.” He turned back to focusing on the horizon.
I pulled out some stones and used my magic pool to create a ying-yang ring +3 constitution. I got up and walked over to Harrash and handed him the ring. “This is a bonus for helping me out.” Harrash took the ring and looked it over. He put it on and smiled. The smile disappeared but I know I saw it. I returned to my seat and continued making rings. I formed a dozen rings to be enchanted at a later time and put them into the bag.
Next I pulled out my alchemy kit, water and herbs. I had enough herbs to make 22 magic potions. I began working on them even though the rolling boat made it difficult. I added the potions to my bag when I was done. The sun was setting and it was getting dark. I let Harrash know I would be back in two days and logged out.
Flicka was there waiting. It was not yet 1:00am. I went outside and sat down with a beer and a P&J. Flicka got the last few bites of the P&J. I went inside and set my alarm for 8am. I was mentally and physically tired.
