CHAPTER 4 DAY 2
I appeared in the room where I had left it. I went work. I pulled out all the stones, the alchemy kit, the potions and herbs from my bag and organized everything on the shelf. I grabbed a handful of the stones. My goal was to make some simple +1 stat rings. I cast stone shape and rolled a black onyx into a long rod. It was like working with play dough as a kid. I then folded it over and made a rough ring. It was ugly. I then tried to use my base enchant, costing 100 magic to prepare an object for enchantment.
Failure, the item you are attempting to prepare is not high enough quality for a tier 1 item. Try adding more materials, use higher quality materials, or use an object with higher artistic value
Damn. I am not good with such delicate work. I rolled out the failed ring and then rolled out some white onyx. I then twisted the strands together and folded them together to make a ring. It looked better, like a black and white rope. The stone hardened and I tried the use the prep enchantment again. 100 magic drained and a message flashed.
Discovery! You have discovered “yin-yang enchantment”. When using an equal part black onyx and white onyx in an item to be enchanted the item will gain an additional +1 to the channeling stat
This was great! I just had a mana problem now. I decided I needed to learn my two new potion recipes and spend an hour studying the book to raise my enchant skill.
Enchant 2 Tier 2 unlocked: +1 Channeling, can prep objects to receive tier 2 enchantment
You now know a new recipe for Minor Stamina Restoration Potion, restore 200 stamina in 30 seconds
You now know a new recipe for Fortify Magic Potion, +10 Magic for 8 Hours
I had enough ingredients to make 3 Fortify Magic Potions from my random gatherings the day before. It took an hour to make the 3 potions. That was a lot of effort to make just 3 potions. I sat down and went to work on the rings. After 4 hours I had used a Fortify Magic Potion, 4 Minor Magic Potions, 10 black onyx stones, and 10 white onyx stones.
I was rewarded with:

10 yin-yang rings of magic +1 channeling, +1 magic
Enchant: Imbue 2 Tier 2 unlocked: +1 Magic, Tier 2 imbue spells can now be learned
I had a ring on each finger. The game mechanics allowed it. If you put two rings on one finger then neither ring worked. I spent a moment to try putting a ring on my toes, it did not function. Oh well. I was now able to learn Enchant: Imbue +2 Magic. I used the parchment and it crumbled to dust. Now my goal was to make 10 yin-yang +2 magic rings. To prepare an enchantment for a tier 2 enchantment it cost 200 magic. The +2 magic imbue spell cost 100 magic, so 300 magic to create each ring. I began my work, using 7 more potions. I was lucky the rings could be prepared for a tier 2 enchantment. I was also rewarded with a new skill halfway through.
Artistry: Sculpture 1 Tier 1 unlocked: +1 Charisma, sculptured objects are higher quality
The rings were definitely looking aesthetically better. Not quite pretty, but getting close. I looked at the game timer. I had just passed eight hours in this session. I had the ten new +2 rings on my fingers. My old rings sat on the desk table. I decided to do one more thing before logging out. I went outside and to the market.
Grant popped up out of nowhere. “Sir I have your stones.” Grant had a sack in his outstretched hand. “One hundred and twenty-two stones.”
I took the sack and peeked inside. Mostly black and white. “Great job Grant. I pulled out 1 silver and placed it in his hand. I would like 20 more black onyx and 20 more white onyx stones. Deliver them to the Mage Union Hall. You do good work and the extra 90 copper is my way of saying so.” I spent another few minutes praising the stones in the bag before leaving Grant. I went to the auction house. The auction house allowed me to sell to anyone in the Realms. I did a quick search to see what the market currently was for rings. The +1 rings posted were going for about 5 silver. Only a handful of +2 rings were posted and all were between 10 and 20 silver. I was smart in getting my rings on the market quick. As more players entered the game the quicker the prices could go down. I posted all my +1 magic/ +1 channeling rings for 22 silver. Before I had finished posting them all, three had already been sold. I smiled. The auction house took cost five copper for each item posted. So I retrieved 65 silver and 85 copper. A thought crossed my mind, 22 silver was equal to $2,200 in cash theoretically. I doubted the exchange rate back to real currency was the same. I did a quick search. There were players offering cash for coins at about 10% value, which meant my rings would sell for $220 in real world currency. I would have to find a way to do make this happen. I went to my room and logged out.
Flicka was waiting for me. We walked outside while she did her business. I sucked in the earlier morning air. I felt like going for a swim. The trip to the lake was too far and it was much too early. Maybe I should build an in ground pool and hot tube behind the cabin. I could then build a small guest on the far side of the pool. For whom I don’t know but it seemed like a good idea. I would talk to the contractor today to get some estimates. I went inside and to bed with Flicka jumping up any curling up letting out a huge sigh. She was probably tired from guarding me while I was in the Cocoon. I fell asleep rubbing her belly.
