Chapter 4: Green zombie

Chapter 4: Green zombie

After making the exchange (Dani had money in his suitcase), the Greeks quickly marched in the opposite direction of the city. After Bea approached the meteorite at the heart, Carlota said that she could see the next message.

Uncommon Meteorite

Rarity: Legendary

Not suitable for storage

Meteorite of unknown origin and composition. Cannot be analyzed. Has 0 out of 5 charges. It takes 300 hours to store one charge.

Possible uses include crafting objects and potions, or if a being approaches it to the heart, they can obtain residual energy, gaining 3000 experience.

"That's about 12 and a half days," I said.

"Wow, in Math you are taught to divide that fast," Bea teased me.

"No, numbers barely appear. My intelligence has increased quite a bit after getting the class and race. Besides, it wasn't that difficult. Anyway, we should discuss what to do now."

"Are there more options besides fleeing?"

Carlota replied.

"Yes, we should be able to fight well. We've been very lucky with the skills, and the longer we wait, the harder things will be. If we can level up, why couldn't they?"

Ale responded.

"Let's take a vote," I said.

"The white phoenix flames are very effective against the undead. Everyone except Ale has selected the nest. We should wait the remaining 8 hours for Dani to arrive and not enter the city at night."

"It's very risky even so!" the twins shouted at once.

The result of the vote surprised me. The option to march into the city at dawn won.

"Yes, I'm eager to try my new class, and the sooner we accept the new reality, the better." said Bea

"Exactly right. By the way, your class doesn't seem as strong as I expected."

"Yes, it says that teleportations are blocked. It seems I have to reach wizard and archmage to unlock near and far teleportation respectively."

"That's why they didn't care so much about selling it."

Class

For each level in this class, you gain four points in intelligence.

* Spatial Perception (P) (A): You can perceive everything in an area of x meters.

* Spatial Pocket (R): You possess a space of x cubic meters where you can store things (no living beings; time also passes in the pocket). You can instantly take things out. Duration: 10*x days.

* Spatial Vision: You can concentrate your energy to see an environment up to x kilometers away from you.

* Blink (blocked): You can teleport x meters to a zone you can see.

* Long-Distance Teleportation (R) (blocked): You can teleport to an area where you have been.

"Yes, but spatial vision will allow me to see what approaches. And I can store the meteorites."

"That's true, I'll give them to you. Even if it's not so strong offensively, it's very useful."

"You! Get in the car and stop talking to my sister!"

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

"And you stop talking to mine!"

After three consecutive sighs, our sisters pulled us by the ears and we got into the car. I lost out; both my ears hurt, but Ale only had one.

"I drive!" The car was registered under Dani's name as the oldest, but I don't think the insurance matters much now. Or when they matter most, the truth is, I don't know.

"We won't move until dawn, numskull. We're just going in to be sheltered, and we shouldn't move the car much to save gas. And I'm older than you, so I'm taking the driver's seat," I quickly intervened. Ale drives recklessly,

"Well, for once I'm going to let you drive."

That night we could hardly sleep at all. Every time a car approached, we were on alert.

And it was good we were because around four in the morning we heard a person screaming. It was a man pursued by a woman and two children. The man was bleeding a lot, and those chasing him had their mouths full of fresh blood and a sickly gray color.

When I focused on the pursuers, the following message appeared:

Power: Zombie

Level: 1

Exp: 0/5

Energy: 5/5

Rarity: Inferior

Race

An undead being without rationality that can acquire another race. To destroy it, the core must be extracted or its head must be cut off. Depending on the color, it has a different associated class:

* Gray: No class

* Green: Common class

* Red: Pure martial class

* Blue: Mixed martial class

* Purple: Magical class

The darker the zombie's skin, the more powerful it is. If they have horns, it's because they've ingested a meteorite.

These races have the following abilities:

* Infectious Bite

I was the first to react, throwing a fireball at the woman. With a chilling scream, the woman incinerated as quickly as if she had been doused in petrol, leaving only her clothes and a prism of white color that shone.

"Ale, you take care of one and I'll take care of the other. The girls cover us by throwing white fireballs."

The man overtook us and each of us linked with one. I threw another fireball at him, and someone from behind threw another, but he dodged them again. I heard a pitiful scream that almost distracted me when the zombie lunged at me, but I was quicker and dodged it. Covering one leg with white fire, I kicked him in the back of his neck. The zombie started to scream in pain, and again all that was left was his clothes and a bright white prism. The panting man began to speak between sobs.

"Thank you for saving me, but it's already too late for me. One of my children was bitten in the city, and ten minutes later he turned into that monstrosity. He attacked his sister by biting her. They were tied with a belt and that prevented them from reaching us at first, so we got out of the car. My wife stayed there crying, but I ran away like a coward. They must have somehow untied themselves, because after running for a while they caught up to me. Not only the children, but also my wife. Although I ran with all my might, my wife bit my arm about five minutes ago. I must have little left to be another monster, so please kill me now while I still retain my rationality and regrets."

With a hand full of white fire, I touched his infected arm. That part, which had acquired a sickly gray hue, gradually regained its color.

"Maybe you can keep living. I know you feel like a coward, but it's normal to fear death and the unknown, especially when so many changes are happening rapidly. If you regret running away, continue with us and help us, so you can prevent more families from suffering. But if you follow us, you have to obey our orders and not disclose information about us. As you've seen, we have some strange powers."

"Alright, I'll obey you. But I don't promise to keep living for long; I'm useless. At least until I see the state of my eldest son, who's in another city. I hope he's still alive. Anyway, first I have to check that the infection doesn't affect me."

Ángela smiled at me and whispered.

"When I approached him earlier, he was in a state of zombification. That has disappeared now."

I nodded slightly.

"Alright. Anyway, we have to wait until dawn. Do you have anything important in your car?"

"No, we left with just what we had on. All I have is my wallet, phone, and keys."

"Well, no problem. We have water and food for you."

The rest of the night we kept asking the man about the situation in the city. The situation was chaotic at the very least. It seems that numerous monsters and zombies could be seen in the streets attacking poor passersby, and casualties were already in the hundreds. Most of the meteorites that had fallen were violet, but there were many indigo, blue, and green ones. He hadn't seen any of another color.

Carlota analyzed the three crystals that had fallen. They all had the same description.

Core

Rarity: Common

Not suitable

Core of a level 1 zombie.

Possible uses include crafting objects and potions. If a being approaches the core to the heart, they can obtain 5 experience points.

Around five in the morning, Ángela stepped away to be able to call Dani. When they approached us, Dani still looked the same as always and gave us a slight nod to indicate that everything was fine.

The man, who introduced himself as Kostas, was initially surprised. Dani made a contract with the man, granting him the driving skill (B-). The contract stipulated that he could not voluntarily or involuntarily disclose any information about our powers and abilities. It seems that according to the skill competition, they are classified from highest to lowest in: S, A, B, C, D, E, and F.

After discussing with Dani, we decided to stick with the original plan and return to the city. After all, we didn't know where else to go, and if the other places were just as bad or worse. We began to march toward the city. As soon as we approached the outskirts, we saw a fat, pale green zombie with a horn eating a living person.
