Chapter 36: Secrets

“So Garry, why exactly did you approach me? I doubt it was only to have some fun with your cliche script.” said Nolan.

Donar returned and sat down without saying anything. Nolan and Garry also didn't pay attention to him.

“I have a great opportunity for you. I can tell that you came to Tron planet not to play around but to hunt for the Underground Shrews. I'm looking for teammates to go with me to a certain place. This place is infested with Underground Shrews. You can have all the Underground Shrews from the Unique Rank and below. I only want the Epic Rank Underground Shrews. So, what do you say?” said Garry.

Nolan was certainly interested in this kind of deal. He'd just dealt with an Underground Shrews source not long ago and someone had located another one.

“I'm certainly interested but there's something I'm curious about. Why do you only want the Epic Rank Underground Shrews, what's so special about them?” asked Nolan. Since he already had Epic Rank Underground Shrews, it wouldn't hurt knowing some hidden secrets about them.

“Well… this is actually secret information that hasn't been verified yet but it's said that if one gathers enough cores from the Underground Shrews, they might have a chance of obtaining Earth Element Affinity of the highest grade or upgrade even one's affinity grade by a grade or two, even by a small level is enough. Then, with his affinity, you can contract an Earth Spirit.” said Garry.

“What?!” Donar exclaimed because if this piece of information was true then it truly a rare opportunity. Affinities were divided into five grades; Low, Mid, High, Peak and Extreme.

“Donar, explain.” said Nolan and Donar nodded and explained.

It seems that having an affinity for something wasn't enough, the grade of affinity also played a major role in the person's improvement and strength.

For example, the rate of improvements with a Low Grade Affinity would be very slow. It would take longer to master Spells and Skills, much slower absorption rate of Mana of the same element and Affinity Suppression. Affinity Suppression is when two parties have an Affinity for the same element but their affinity grades are different.

The one with a higher affinity grade can override the control over the element and render the one with a lower affinity grade completely incapacitated and vulnerable. Affinity Grade was very important and could become a key component of winning in a life and death battle.

As for Earth Spirits, it wasn't just them who existed, there existed Spirits for all elements. Spirits lived in a place called the Spirit Realm, not that they couldn't be found in other places but their home and source was the Spirit Realm. And the way to contract one was to perform a ritual, depending on your Affinity and Affinity Grade, you could contract a weak Spirit to a very powerful Spirit, it all depended on your talent.

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Once a Spirit is contracted, it can boost the power of one's Spell or Skill by many folds, it all depended on how powerful your Spirit was. The reason why Garry didn't mention the Legendary Rank Underground Shrews was because they were just so powerful that no one dared to even think about encountering them.

“I'm interested. Where's the location of that source that you're talking about? We can set off immediately if it's close.” said Nolan.

“As insurance, I won't give you the exact location of the source but the general location. It's west of here, a trip that will take about half a month to a month depending on the speed.” answered Garry.

Donar and Nolan looked at each other with a knowing look because that's the direction they came from. So they were 90% certain that he was talking about the place they just raided. Of course these interactions were done secretly in order not to alert Garry, they looked at each other like they were considering going or not when in actual truth, they weren't.

“West of here. I'm afraid we can't go with you. I have terrible luck whenever the west direction is mentioned. One time I caught a cold just thinking about the west so yeah, find other people.” said Nolan bluntly.

Garry wanted to persuade him with more benefits because he assumed Nolan wanted more benefits for himself, otherwise why would he spout such a load of crap. But Nolan vehemently rejected all his offers and Garry could only give up and try his luck someplace else.

The food was brought over and Garry wolfed it down like a hungry beast, making a mess. After a short while, Garry had finished eating and was about to leave when he remembered something.

“I remember you said that you've dealt with people like me before. Are you interested in making extra cash as you travel the world?” asked Garry.

“What do you have in mind?” asked Nolan.

“This is a top secret that I rarely share with anyone. I'm actually a member of the Assassination Guild and we worship the Assassin God. Are you interested in joining?”

“Assassin Guild? I heard it's a very powerful organisation in the Human Domains(1) and can influence even empires. What status do you hold in your guild?” asked Nolan.

“Not a very high status. My status is low because I'm not active in the guild. Apart from recruitments from time to time, I rarely complete any guild missions so my status remains low, why do you ask?”

“Garry my friend, I'm happy to tell you that I also have an opportunity for you. If you can take over the Assassin Guild or hold enough power and authority to influence them, I'll reward you with a supercluster that you alone will lord over. This is my contact information. Call me when you've made your decision.” said Nolan as he stood up to leave.

Garry was shocked by what Nolan had just told him. Although the Assassin Guild was spread throughout the Human Domains, it didn't even own a single galaxy. Not just that, the guild moved in the shadows like rats. And now, he was being offered an entire supercluster that he alone had ownership of.

“Wait, can you tell me who you are exactly? I can discuss this deal with my master if your words hold credibility.” said Garry.

“You can come to the Demonic Sect and look for me if you have any questions. Show them this token and you'll be taken directly to me.” answered not Nolan but Donar as he gave Garry a token. Garry was well versed in the universal language so he could read the words written on the token.

“Oh my goodness! How can it be you guys?!” exclaimed Garry as he almost ran away from fear. How could he not be shocked after seeing the token? He did assume that Nolan came from a prestigious background because all evil people had strong backers behind them for some reason. But never did he expect the man's background to be so powerful.

“It seems you know some secrets about us but the offer still stands, a supercluster in exchange for your guild. What will it be, I wonder.” said Nolan. The token only had
