Chapter 16: Old Title

The seat spun and revealed the figure sitting on it. It was a middle aged woman with slightly above average looks but her breasts were especially abundant and full. She looked very similar to Troy, a clear indication that the two were somehow blood related. Her eyes were sharp and full of intelligence.

“Didn't I tell you to not wander outside? You've been gone for two days without a word, do you know how worried I was?!” roared the lady angrily, causing Troy to shrink his neck.

“I'm sorry for not calling you and I'm sorry for leaving without your permission. I promise it won't happen again.” said Troy softly.

“Damn right it won't happen again because you're now on house arrest. If you dare set foot out of your room, I'll chop off your legs!” said the woman.

“That's not fair! I'm a fucking grown man, you can't treat me like a baby and you can't fucking keep me cooped up in this boring place! You taught me how to scout but you won't allow me to use it!” shouted Troy.

“You better watch your tone when talking to me, young man or else…”

“Or else what?! What will you do? Scold me to death?”

This argument went on for an hour and whatever was used before to calm and relax everyone down didn't seem to work on these two. They kept throwing insults and cusses on each other and everything seemed to calm down after an hour.

It was then that the two remembered that they weren't alone in the office but had guests. The woman whose name was Angy was extremely embarrassed by her actions in front of strangers. Troy on the other hand laughed awkwardly and introduced Nolan to his sister.

“Angy, allow me to introduce you to the person I personally scouted, I promise you won't be disappointed. This is uhm… uhh…”

“I'm Nolan, nice to meet you Angy.”

“So your name is Nolan, it doesn't sound like anything special so why did you insist on not telling me?” said Troy with an annoyed look.

Nolan ignored him and focused his eyes on Angy who was currently assessing him from top to bottom.

“Not bad. Not bad at all. So Troy, how did you find him?” asked Angy curiously.

“Well he didn't find me, I found him. And I'm glad I did because it looks like I hit the jackpot. Are you by any chance the decision maker of this place?” asked Nolan.

“If you're asking if I'm the Freed Underground Arena’s boss then no but if you're asking if I have enough power to negotiate on behalf of this establishment then yes. So, what kind of business proposal do you have for me?” answered Angy.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

This was the exact reason why Angy was given complete control over Freed Underground Arena. She was sharp, able to recognise a business opportunity at a single glance. She was smart, and could identify if the business was profitable or not. And finally, she was decisive in whatever she did which had netted her many clients and money over the years.

“Don't get too excited, I'm not an investor, nor am I a business and I don't know anything about running a business. What I want to talk to you about is my percentage share of my earnings. 0.5% of the total bet earnings if I obtain 50 wins and zero losses. This is a great number but it's not enough for me. I want 10% of the earnings from all streaming platforms that include my fights. In exchange, I'll make you the most famous Underground Arena in the entire continent.” said Nolan calmly.

“Bwahahaha! Ahahahahaha, you're funny! Hahaha!” Angy burst in laughter as though she'd heard the most hilarious in her life. Nolan on the other hand wasn't laughing and remained stoic. Troy, who was sitting on the corner of the office, had to hold his breath to stop himself from laughing since it would be seen as rude to his sister's guest. If he dared to laugh, Angy would surely skin him alive.

“Mr Nolan, it's not that I'm trying to disrespect or demean you in any way, shape or form but your proposal is a complete joke. You have to understand that I'm running a business here, I have a quarter to reach and superiors to please. And let's say I do put my faith in your… proposal, how do I guarantee that you'll deliver?” said Angy.

“I really do love working with smart people like you.” said Nolan with a slight smile on his face.

“I'm willing to give you my head as collateral damage.” offered Nolan.

Angy didn't answer immediately but instead gave Nolan a second and third look. Long dreadlocks, blue eyes, light skinned, handsome young man with full red lips.

“Out of all the black families I know of, I've never heard about you so why would I be interested in your head?” asked Angy.

“You don't know about me because I'm mixed race. My father was white and my mother was black so I'd obviously use my father's last name but that's not important. What's important is this and I hope it will remain between the two of us.” said Nolan as he passed a piece of paper to Angy.

“What's this?” asked Angy as she took the piece of paper and checked what was written.

“My worth. Scan it with your Star Watch.” replied Nolan.

Angy, although hesitant, did as Nolan had said and scanned whatever was written on the piece of paper. After a scan, she pressed the search button on the holographic keyboard. A few seconds later, there were results.

She was nonchalant about what Nolan wanted to show her but once she saw it with her own eyes, her jaw dropped. Her eyes widened as her pupils constricted, her breath quickened seemingly from agitation.

“This… this… this can't be real right?!” She said as her body was slightly shaking. Her pupils moved from left to right, an indication that she was reading something. She would sometimes steal a few glances at Nolan before continuing to read the information provided.

“Is this really true?! Did you really do all these things described here?!”

“Hahaha, it's been so long that I barely remember my past deeds but I can assure you that everything written there is 99% true.” answered Nolan.

Hearing his words of confirmation, Angy was shaken even more, she even started to sweat bullets. Her white face slowly turned pale.

“Don't worry, I like smart people like you, plus, even if I wanted to do something to you, I'm too weak so relax. But I do want to give you a piece of advice that I think would be very useful to you; ‘Looks can be deceiving.’ never forget that.”

An hour later, only Angy and Troy remained in the office, Nolan had gone out to prepare for his first match and debut in Freed Underground Arena.

“Big Sis, what exactly did he show you that got you so agitated and afraid?” asked Troy curiously.

“I'm not allowed to say but I will give you one of the titles he once went by once upon a time.”

“What is it?”

“Hostis… humani…. generis…”
