Chapter 22: Carter’s Counterattack!
Like they were already married, Risa didn’t care if Monia heard about her business problems. As such, she answered the call, and then she put it on speaker mode. This way, even Monia could listen in. “Maybe if I do things like this for her, then Monia will like me more…” Risa thought with an unsure tone.
Clare: “My Lady?” She said after the call was picked up.
Risa: “What is it? I was certain that most of my work was finished for a while…” She replied with a slightly annoyed tone.
Clare: “It isn’t work related, unfortunately.” She denied.
Risa: “Then what is it about?” She asked with a raised eyebrow.
Clare: “Just check social media. Carter seems to have a very strong connection with Bern Telli. As a story was run by most of the big news organizations around. The story being told is… that you killed your parents for the shares, and also kidnapped a woman.” She explained.
Risa: “…” Clare quickly hung up the call, as the maid was trying to deal with this fire for her Mistress. “This is a problem… Or rather, it really isn’t. For my parents, I can easily prove that they’re alive and well. But… what about Monia? I did, in fact, kidnap her…” She thought with a serious tone.
Monia: “Can I have my phone back for a small bit?” She asked.
Risa: “…Why?” She replied nervously.
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.
Monia: “So that I can take a picture of the two of us and then post it on social media. I can also come up with a story about what happened to me.” She answered.
Risa: “…You two, let her have it back, but watch her intently.” She said with a stern tone.
Finally being granted her smartphone back after so long, Monia struggled to not do random things on the internet. Being the big dog at work, and doing so much for the company, gave Monia the perfect ability to slack off and steal hours by using the internet. In a less complex meaning, Monia was a majorly internet addicted girl.
Looking at the news, it was like the entire world was on fire. Not many cared that much about Risa’s parents, with most of the focus being on Monia herself. Somehow, there were pictures of her being kidnapped by maids, and that is what is drumming up all the hype.
This happened in the novel, so Monia knew how to handle at least her part of it. The key issue… is that her mother is in the fashion industry. With such a connection, and even her mother expressing concern for the missing girl, it was now heavily speculated that Monia was kidnapped by Risa as a way to threaten her mother out of business.
Scooting close to Risa, Monia took a picture of them both smiling. Then she posted it on her oddly large social media account. And with the caption of, “Risa and I have been internet friends for a long time, so we decided to meet up. Since we were anonymous, I wasn’t aware that she was someone so rich and famous!” before then following up the post with, “As a joke, she pretended to kidnap me and place me in her car, where she funnily revealed the truth. With how stern she looks… you wouldn’t expect that she had such an amazing sense of humor!”.
Monia: “Now then… just one more post shall do!” She exclaimed before typing some more. Writing out the last post, which was, “Risa’s estate is so amazing, that me, the internet addicted girl, honestly forgot about the internet for a while… And now, due to that, and some pesky bugs in Risa’s life, it was spun into some crazy story… But, rest assured, I am safe as can be, and am enjoying a life of grand luxury!” then handed the smartphone back to the maids.
Of course, only after sending her mother a massage about Monia being safe and sound. Looking around, Monia was weirded out to see the three people in the room giving her strange looks. “Oops… I just did something that a normally captive woman wouldn’t do… Teehee?” She thought with a laugh.
