Chapter 10 - Crafting

The request that Adam just made had me thinking. I know that I proved a lot for them already but they had no useful tools or the ability to make them for themselves yet. All they had were food, shelter and clothes. No way to protect themselves nor pretty much do anything at all. No way to provide for themselves or one could argue give them purpose.

So if Adam wanted something to help protect his family, Lilith, Eve, and technically me I suppose. I believe that he desired this because he may have felt a sense of debt to me for his creation but also gives him a purpose that serves those he cares about. He certainly have the courage and bravery to fulfill this role as shown by his capture of their breakfast. He confidently picked up the turtle without even knowing if it was dangerous or was scared by it snapping at him. This at all means does not show he was an idiot. I may only have observed these goblins for a short period of time but none of them showed signs of being stupid, all have at least exhibited traits of intelligence in different ways. He probably noticed the unusual defenses of this creature could be used as a weakness and attempted the risk to conform it. He even bragged about how easy it was to catch it to the others so this assumption was not that far off.

These traits shows he would have great potential as a warrior since they would complement or even shows a promising battle instinct. Because of this, I think making him a weapon would be the best choice.

To consider what I should make him, I would need first to think of the design and type of weapon. One would instantly think of a sword at first. The mystical and regal perception that not just pop culture but throughout the history of Earth, swords has been put on a pedestal but in reality it is not the best weapon. Yeah, in the hands of a trained professional it is deadly but it is one of the hardest for beginners to use or at least that what I heard. If I'm going to give a weapon to Adam, I want it to be useful at the moment he got his hands on it, not wait a few years, they could die in that time. If I'm going to make him something, it would not be too heavy or unbalanced, easy to use and get mastered by beginners, and quite practical. The best one that comes to mind would be guns but I don't have the materials to make them, probably for another time. The only melee weapon that fits those criteria which can be made with the materials I have available would be the spear. This was one of the most used weapons throughout history, it was easy to make since it used far less metal then other weapons and could easily used by peasants with no training immediately for battle. The long shaft also gives the user some distance from the enemy decreasing the chance of injury and the most basic moves would be thrusting and slashing. So I decided to go forward with this choice.

Now for my materials. I do have metal but it is just rotting iron so not many options but this metal seems very magical which could argument the final product. For the rest of the spear, I do not have any access to any wood for use so I would not be able to make a traditional spear. Plus I think the rotting iron would ruin any organic matter it comes in contact so if I made it of wood, it would probably fallen apart. What could replace the wood? Stone would be too heavy and fragile, dirt would not work whatsoever, and straw would be too flimsy. Oh, I could make it out of bone like I did with the stakes for the tent. Bone is light, durable, and match the theme with the iron. It would not rot if I made it purely of dead bone and the bone would complement the necrotic energies from the metal.

With the plans complete, I set out to start this new project. I began with the main body of the spear, the chaff. It was difficult to figure out how to make pure bone, it automatically wants to grow flesh surrounding it and have a hollow center. The first problem was easy to fix, just absorb it after it finished but it took me a while to come up with the trick of calcify the marrow instead of trying to get rid of it. I made it just long enough for a goblin to use it and made sure it already was balanced to have a metal point at the other end. I even gave it a little butt where the head would go that looks like the type of shape a cartoon bone would take just for jokes and giggles but also to be able to strap the point on. For the iron part, I took me multiple tries to get it right. At first it was not make sure it would not flake off due to it being too rusty. In the end I was able to make it completely solid but the surface has a small covering of rust which I could not get rid off. The edge was also difficult because it was hard to make completely straight and I had to redo it a couple times to make the sharpest edge I could. The overall shape would be three pointed, one large one in the center with serrated sides to be the main part of the spear. The other two smaller ones were placed on opposite sides at right angles next to the connection to the chaff. Putting them together, I made the materials fuse together but just incase I also strapped it with tendons between the blades and bone protrusions. With the physical components done, I infused it with magic to empower it. I do not know how to enchant yet but I can change or amplify the properties of any item with energy which can manifest as [traits] or [abilities]. This gave the weapon the an [ability] based off the rotting iron, [Laceration Necrosis]. Ultimately all I have to give it a name to complete then whole process, well I really don't have to name it but I felt it was appropriate. Once done I received a notification.

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Craft Completion You created the magical weapon [Death Spear of Adam].

I named it after him because it is meant to be for him, I did not want anyone else to use it. Now I would have to make the gifts for the other two. This would need sometime to figure out what to make for them since they did not explicitly ask for anything so I would have to guess.

For Eve this was easy. So far, she has been obsessed with weaving. So far she been trying to recreate the tunics I made them but had making mats in the meantime before she got to that level yet. So I believe if she got better materials or the ability to turn inferior materials to superior ones. So a spindle would be the best option since she could turn any fiber she got her hands on including the weeds into thread. I know there was more steps to gather usable fiber from straw but I can modify the spindle and amplify it's spinning property. This was a little more difficult to influence a abstract characteristic than a more tangible one like the physical traits of the material or substantial like the magical traits. In the end I was able to complete it with the help of being able to imbue it with my ability to manipulate materials in itself. I was even able to use the rotting iron for the needle to decay all the unusable materials and dry the usable materials for proper use so she can use fresh weeds which will be automatically process for her. It will also bind the fibers into one thread so they would not go all over the place when the other parts of the plant disappear. She will practically become Rumpelstiltskin without the thread turning into gold. In my opinion this is way more impressive compared to the spear. This has much more utilitarian use for everyday life. The spear may be like one used by a famous warrior (I assume, I don't really know the power level of most weapons) while this spindle would be used by a prosperous family of artisans for generations. If a very skilled spinster got their hand on this, I could not even image the quality of the thread would be not even including what effects [classes] and [skills] may have.

Now done with Eve's present I can start with Lilith's. I have a special concept that I think would be perfect. I can't wait for all of them to wake up and see them, especially her.
