Noah watched as Evan flew closer and closer without moving from his bed, trying to determine if he was just hallucinating.
‘No, I'm not. That's him! What's he doing here, though? Well, I'll think about that later.’
Springing out of bed, he let the blood of eight vampires concentrate into his blood as he sped up into a blur as he flitted up onto the rooftop of the Odir estate. When Evan got close enough to probably be able to see him, Noah released a thick beam of blood straight into the sky, then absorbed it back after a few seconds to act as a beacon for Evan.
Noah watched Evan’s figure, which had been slightly off course, fix his trajectory just a second after the laser was fired, and head towards him.
Noah began to clearly see Elara's bloodied body in Evan's arms once he was at a height of a dozen miles and still descending.
‘Mimicry - Wyvern x 6, Gryphon x 1, Unicorn x 1!’
A majestic birdlike creature with powerful draconic wings and a unicorn’s green horn flapped just a few times and arrived at Evan’s position in the sky. Evan obviously had qualms about the strange creature that had swooped in front of him, but understood that he was Noah and let himself fall onto his back before promptly falling unconscious. The gryphon, a beast loved by nobility for its soft, lush, comfortable fur, was likely like a mother's warm embrace for the exhausted Evan.
The soft green waves that emanated off the horn on the gryphon’s head brought the color back to the faces of both that had long since gone pale, and Elara’s skin began to reconstruct itself cell by cell.
Noah swooped down and gently laid the two of them in the training area, where Ariel was currently warming up with simple spear movements. Upon noticing the two collapsed on his back, she did not ask questions and sprinted into the estate, opening up all doors between the unofficial infirmary room Noah was just in and the training area. Right as she was done, a gale swept through the estate as a red-eyed Noah brought the two to the beds opposite the one he had used, unimpeded in his sprint thanks to the open doors.
His red eyes flickered and were replaced with black ones, then a dense green horn sprouted from the top of his skull. Unlike the soft green waves from earlier, the ones this horn emitted were fast and fierce but carried a greater warmth to them. In mere seconds, Elara’s wounds were fully covered up, and she, along with Evan, were back in perfect condition. The horn of a unicorn could do nothing about exhaustion, though, so both of them were deeply knocked out. Identifying the white tunic that was casual wear in Eldoria now reduced to rags on Elara, he called in Ariel to get her changed, and he did the same to Evan, who had likely been wearing the same outfit for the duration of what must've been days of continuous flight.
An quarter of an hour later, a couple stood over a bed looking over another deeply asleep clean couple in fresh, simple clothing that seemed slightly too small for them, since Evan towered at 6 feet, while Noah was 2 inches shorter, and Elara, though shorter than Ariel, was slightly larger than her in certain feminine body parts.

‘I’m trying not to look; I really am. But when it's that tight, it's hard not to notice. Wait, what am I thinking about in this situation?’
“Kuhum. Ariel, can you get them a healer and explain this stuff to Cedric? I got some urgent stuff to take care of now that they're safe.”
“Sure.”
Ariel, who didn't seem to notice his mini internal dilemma, agreed to his request without asking too many questions. Besides, she had made some guesses as to what was happening, and was able to piece together a general picture when combined with the subtle tone of urgency in Noah’s voice.
“Thanks.”
Noah spoke while already launching into a sprint, dragging out the end of the word. In mere moments, he was out of the estate, where he jumped explosively into the air.
‘Mimicry - Zephyr! : Vampire x 2, Wyvern x 4, Ogre x 2’
This was the current fastest form Noah had discovered in his experiments when it came to flight. The enhancing blood of a vampire pumped through the bulging muscles of an ogre, all within the wings of a wyvern. With this form, he had clocked his maximum speed at Mach 10, ten times the speed of sound. Of course, he wasn't obnoxious enough to break the sound barrier directly above a city; that was a shortcut to instantly ripping the eardrums of tens of thousands. Instead, he lazily flew himself into the low stratosphere first.
Due to the decreased air density in the stratosphere, the violent shockwaves that followed a sonic boom would be mostly dissipated by the time they reached the ground, preventing the scenario of mass public damage.
As he began to feel the thinner air, Noah realised he was at his destination altitude and flapped just once, hard.
In an instant, the cloudy skies split open, and at the center of it was Noah, who could no longer be spotted by someone on the ground by the time they looked up. He was long gone.
His velocity increased to cover multiple miles every second, and his draconic eyes, augmented by the blood of a vampire, scanned the ground at an ever-increasing pace.
Noah couldn't make many guesses as to who or what left Evan in that state, but they could not have been anyone weak. Now, unlike Noah, most people would not be able to spot the flight of people in the thermosphere, hundreds of miles above ground, like he had when he had mistaken Evan for a bird. Therefore, it was only natural to assume the presence of pursuers, who would be looking for Evan, who had escaped them.
Whoever the threat was, it was reasonable to assume that they may have backed off after they found that Evan had escaped into foreign territory. However, emotion would easily burn bright enough to melt cold logic. And anyone would be angry after their half-dead prey had escaped.
Even if what had hurt Evan to such an extent were likely skilled fighters with decades of history on the battlefield and were unlikely to make emotional decisions, a threat would have to be SS-ranked at minimum to hurt Noah to that extent. Such power could not be dismissed without investigation on the flimsy basis of ‘unlikely’.
Feeling the wind whistle around his wings and the forested ground rocket past him, Noah got to thinking.
‘At my current power level, I could have left Evan in a similar state. I should be wary of this threat, but not too wary. Honestly, besides Khaazgr—fuck, I'm not even powerful enough to say the Demon Lord’s name out loud without a curse activating. Damn. Anyway, other than him, I don't think anyone else would be much of a hassle to me. Even considering the former heroes, they'd be a difficult fight, but I reckon I could take him down—especially that laser bastard. I'd love to fuck him up one of these days.’
