Chapter 107 - Tail Whip

“Burn, you fucking overgrown lizard.”

A thousand kilometer-long thick tendrils of lightning from all over the dome burst onto Noah.

At the very next instant, his fist pummeled into the dragon, and the momentum of his supersonic punch fully transferred itself onto the dragon. This momentum was not just a result of his speed surpassing several times mach speed, but also because of the immense mass of the leviathan within Noah, a mass great enough to compress inch deep footprints into solid rock ground. Such mass had reached such speed.

On top of the momentum of the strike; billions of watts of electricity had been converted with the explosion of bright blue. To the dragon, such an impact was like a meteor that had fallen from the heavens, and was over ten times that of the impact Noah had attempted to deliver onto Zenith many months ago. If a spherical barrier had not encased this fight, far reaching and long-lasting environmental damage as a result of such a punch would be unavoidable.

This punch.

Was capable of casting a winter over the entirety of the Haldor Kingdom.

Within the dome, at the moment of the punch, time seemed to freeze for a second for the dragon as the swirling debris and the barrage of sanguine spears appeared to come to a standstill.

At the next moment, time came back alive again, and the dragon’s upper body was blown back as the protruding crocodile-like snout and jaws of the dragon was ripped off into smithereens with a blinding blue flash rivaling the blinding brightness of the dragon breath.

As the dragon’s head was thrown back from the momentum, its consciousness flickered in and out of consciousness, visible outside by the flickering in brightness of the purple eyes.

‘J-jaw…!’

For those few moments, the dragon’s brain was only barely able to register that the debris within a kilometer radius had been blown away, and that the already thoroughly cracked ground had now fully splintered into mere chunks of rock. But what stood out most to it was the fact that its own protruding jaw, which it could usually only see from the corners of its own eyes or in reflections, was now directly in front of its own eyes, broken off. It had been thrown back along with the entire upper body of the dragon.

Due to the significant weight difference between the whole weight of the dragon as compared to the whole weight of the dragon, however, the broken jaw zoomed off to the far edges of the dome where it would be bounced off, while the dragon was only pushed back roughly a couple hundred meters, head first.

Now that the dragon understood itself to be in a situation that could be actually dangerous, the dragon’s composure returned to it more than ever. After being blown back a few hundred meters, the dragon extended its wings, hoping to use the momentum of the punch to take flight. Its wings unfurled and pushed away the furiously swirling clouds of debris it had been pummeled through, and now that it had escaped the dense fog of blood mist, an artificial negative pressure differential was no longer present to hamper flight. Rather, the momentum of the dragon allowed the creation of a stronger positive pressure differential, creating a stronger multiplicative effect by the hover enchantment that amplified the lift the dragon received. With this, the dragon rapidly took to the air.

At this point, the dragon was more or less familiar with Noah's combat momentum.

It folded its wings that had been extended, and tucked itself inwards and flipped vertically. Its head spun to where its tail had been, and the tail spun to where its head had been.

This movement resulted in Noah, who had prepared another slingshotted punch the moment his arm that had broken as a result of it regenerated, to find that what met his punch was not the dragon’s stunned remnants of its face as it prepared to use a dragon breath, but rather, a heavily armored tail.

The dragon had read Noah's move, and Noah would pay dearly for it!

He rapidly constructed blood barriers in his own path to decrease his momentum, but to little result. This current momentum he possessed was actually a result of using the dense blood fog that had been encompassing the dragon to create a larger and more powerful slingshot after his first punch. What he had hoped would be an even more devastating blow would now backfire.

If not for his last-ditch effort.

With a desperate burst of effort, he purposely accelerated even further with a jet of blood from his Ripped Wings to meet the tail whip earlier. As a result, he did not meet the tail at the point when it had peaked in momentum, at point where his velocity and that of the tail whip were in opposite directions, but instead when the tail was horizontal to the ground. The velocity of the tail and himself pointed in different directions, blunting the impact he received. There was no doubt however, that the collision was still fierce.

Once again, the floating debris was sent into a wild frenzy and the air within the debris shook under the uncontrolled power and volume behind the meeting of the tail and Noah's momentum.

This angled collision meant that his momentum had not actually dispersed and only slightly redirected to more of an upwards angle. He was sent ragdolling to the barrier behind the dragon.

‘Damn!’

Despite his armor, his body was battered and bruised all over, but he bit his tongue until he drew blood and supplied mana to his regeneration at the artificial pulmonary arteries behind Ripped Wings to force a jet of blood that righted his wild ragdolling into a firm feet-first dive to the barrier.

The part of the barrier Noah was barreling towards was the midpoint between the highest point of the dome and the base of it that touched the ground, and he was heading upwards to this point at a forty five degree angle.

‘Blood Construct - Spiring!’

Before Noah made contact, some blood seeped out through the soles of his feet from Liquid Armor, and blood from the artificial pulmonary arteries seeped into the Liquid Armor to replenish the lost blood.

The blood that seeped out hardened into two firm, springs roughly ten times Noah’s height and compressed and compressed, until Noah came to a stop.

At this point, due to the speed at which Noah had rocketed, merely only a fraction of a second had passed thus far for him to rocket to the dome barrier. Meaning, the dragon had been practically stationary, upside down, still at the same spot it had been when it struck Noah with the tail whip.

In the split second Noah came to a stop, he was able to discern such a fact clearly.

The next second, the barrier acted as Noah expected it to, and what felt like an explosion of speed was transferred to the springs, which exploded onto his legs. One moment he was crouched with legs that he had desperately reinforced to prevent from breaking, the next, he was traveling at a speed that made every source of light stretch out into long lines.

The still upside-down dragon could only blink before Noah, though not empowered by lightning, seemed to vanish from his distant location and reappear with a blood-red aura before its exposed chest, arm cocked back and primed.
