Chapter 9: A Visit to Flumine City

-----Sol's PoV-----

It has been 4 years since the day I inherited the《Divine Star Legacy》and met Elena.

After that day, I made a few more type of guns like a machine gun, snipers rifles, submachine guns, and missile launcher.

Joseph-Oniisama have also went to a knight military academy in the capital to study. Mother and sister cried a bit, but me and father just encouraged him to do his best.

And my schedule have been changed a little bit. I will train during the morning until breakfast, then I will either go read books, spend time with with my family or do mkre training and exercises and have dinner, then I will spend time reading books until it's time for bed.

After the first visit from Elena, she became more open with me and she sometimes even paid a visit, I soon found out that she was quite shy, that's why she didn't accept my hand before.

She used to watch me intently with mother while I'm training when she paid us a visit, I can focus better now, so I let others see me practice on the condition nobody bothered me if it's not for an important matter.

But suddenly, when we were 3 years old, Elena asked me to train her on using bows, I was quite surprised, but it looks like she wants a way to protect herself, her body isn't that strong since she is still a daughter of a duke. So I trained her for a month until she can shoot a bow properly then let her train on her own. I must say that she is talented in the art of bows, she learns fast and improves fast.

And this year we're 5 years old, and today is just like another day, until suddenly during breakfast, my mother said.

"Sol, do you want to go visit Elena?"

I was surprised at mother's sudden question, so I questioned her back.

"What brought this up?"

"Well, I'm going to bring your siblings to Flumine city where Sophia will be tested for her Elemental Affinity, she is 8 this year and coincidently, Fricies household is situated at Flumine city, so we can pay a visit to them at the same time."

I then thought about it for a moment before answering mother.

"I'll go then, and speaking of which, I haven't heard what Elemental Affinity Joseph-Oniisama has."

"Good, we will leave tomorrow morning, and to answer your question, Joseph have the affinity with earth, but his control over the element is quite weak and he prefer to use it to strengthen his body, that's why he chose to study at the knight military academy."

'So that's why Joseph-Oniisama didn't use magic to fight the ferocious tiger.'

I thought to myself. I then finished my food and proceed to finish my daily activities and went to sleep.

The next morning, I changed my usual training clothes to a brown vest over a white shirt and long pants.

I then went downstairs to see my mother and sister wearing a pair of dress, while mother is wearing a light green dress, Sophia-Oneesama is wearing an ocean blue dress that matches their eye color.

We then went outside and saw brother with the same clothes as me but with a black vest with father and 8 of our household guards.

Father sent us with a smile while waving his hand. We then proceed to ride a carriage to Flumine City, the ride took half an hour, I spent time by training using my breathing technique, here's how my status screen looked like right now.

My stats have been rising considerably, but I still don't know what my other race is, mother is an elf, so it must have been from father's line of blood, but since father said nothing, I will naturally wait for him to talk.

After what seemed to be about 15 minutes, we finally reached Flumine city, the ride here was quite bumpy, but I naturally got used to it at a price of a sore butt.

Paying the entrance fee, we proceeded into the city, there is many medieval buildings, and the road is made out of paved stones.

The carriage then kept moving until we abruptly halted when we reached a mansion.

Suddenly, the door of the mansion was pushed open and a girl with big round, sky blue eyes, silver, smooth hair and an oval face came out of the mansion, it is the 5 years old Elena, she gave the impression that she will be a stunning woman in the future.

Elena then ran towards the carriage with a bright smile while waving an arm and shouting.

"Sol~, welcome to my house, thanks for coming to visit us."

She then jumped into my chest and hugged me, everytime she paid a visit, she would always hug me atleast once, when I asked why she did that, all I got was.

"Hugging you make me feel safe, and It feels really comfortable hugging you."

I think it might be the effect of the Divine Star Energy that enhanced my body, but I'm not really sure, and I just think of it as a childish act, so I just shrugged it off.

A butler then lead mother and the others away, while Elena brought me to the courtyard so she can show me her archery skill, it feels like a child boasting, so I don't really mind.

Elena then moved to the archery range, while I stood on the sideline to see if she did anything wrong with her form, I always told her to never copy how I do archery and to make her own form so she can feel more comfortable and shoot more naturally.

With her right foot forward, she straightened her back, focused her eyes and mind, and starts pulling the bow strings.

*Shuu*

Letting go of the bow string, the arrow shot through the air while as if cutting through the wind and directly hit the middle of the target, she did this for a few times before stopping.

Elena then proceeds to shoot while running left and right while trying to shoot all the targets. This time not all of the arrows hit the middle of the target, but she still hit the target and she could still improve herself.

She then turned her head to look at me with an energentic smile while I just gave a faint smile while walking to her and gave her a few pointers.

We then went into the mansion to search for mother and the others.

After asking a passing maid, we asked where mother ans the others are. She told us that they are in the drawing room, so we proceeded to walk there.

Reaching the drawing room, we gave a few knocks before entering.

In there, we can see mother next to Sophia-Oneesama across aunt Liza.

After the door was opened, we instantly caught their attention.

I then bowed my head slightly and sat on a seperate couch since mother's couch is already full. Surprisingly Elena sat next to me and not her mother, but I decided to just shrug it off as a childish action.

"Well, now that Sol and Elena is here, let's all go to the Affinity Examination area, Liza and Elena will be going with us, so let's go and prepare."

We then got down from the couch and starts walking out of the mansion and into the carriage, this time, we are going to ride aunt Liza's carriage.

I spend the time in the carriage looking out the window silently so I can remember the way around the city, but I still subconsciously did the breathing technique since I have been using it for 5 years now, but it's still not as efficient as doing it consciously, but for some reason, I can't reach Master lvl 3 on the technique.

After a while, the carriage stopped near a restaurant and we got down from it, what I saw was astonishing.

A bunch of stalls are lined up on the town square, from food, weapons, and even miscellaneous items. At the end of the lines of stalls, there is a receptionist table with a really long line of people, and behind the table is a giant tent that seems to be the examination area, the tent looks a bit like a circus tent from my past life.

The people that's lining was surprised when they saw us, but they immediately calmed down and made way for us, I guess the duke's family is quite well-known in this city.

We then reached the reception table, on a closer look, the receptionist lady looks like a beauty with brown waist length hair, oval face with sharp brown eyes and well proportioned body that fits her looks.

But she still can't beat mother's looks since in the first place, mother is a moon elf, she has a golden blonde hair with a sharp face and round light green eyes, coupled with mother's noble-like air, waist that's curved perfectly that goes with her green dress and chest that isn't too big nor to small. Even though she is my mother, I still have to admit that mother is a stunning beauty.

Aunt Liza then starts to get Sophia-Oneesama signed up for the elemental affinity examination.

After she finished, we entered the giant tent where the examination is taking place.

Inside, we saw a huge amount of people watching intently at a stage in the middle of the tent where a bunch of old men and a crystal ball is standing at. Suddenly, one of the old man on the stage called out a number and name.

"Number 62, O'sio."

After the old man that seems to be the examiner called out the name, a boy that seems to be around 8 years old got on the stage and bowed to the old man respectfully before the old man motioned him to touch the crystal.

The boy then touched the crystal ball, it let out a bright brown glow for a few moments before dimming.

"Earth Element, Average Affinity"

The examiner then motioned the boy to leave the stage before continuing on to the next examinee.

After the examiner called out a few more name, it's finally Sophia-Oneesama's turn.

"Number 74, Sophia Dractum."

Sophia-Oneesama then slowly walked to the stage. Many people was stunned by Sophia-Oneesama's beauty, she has a waist length blonde hair with a sharp face just like mother, except Sophia-Oneesama has a big round, ocean blue eyes. Coupled with her mature and noble-like air and Oneesama's blue dress that matches her eye color, her looks are comparable to mother's, especially after she grows up a few more years.

After getting on the stage, Sophia-Oneesama touched the crystal ball after the examiner motioned her to do so.

Suddenly, a blinding blue and white light came put of the crystal ball, the light this time is incomparable to all the other light the past examinees caused.

The examiner and the other of old mens let out a surprised gasps before calming and said.

"Water and Light Element, High Affinity."

Sophia-Oneesama was dazed for a moment before coming back to her senses and bowed slightly to the examiner before walking down the stage and back to us.

"Congratulations, I'm so proud of you."

Mother exclaimed before hugging Oneesama tightly. We then congratulated her one by one.

When I was congratulating Oneesama with a slight smile, Oneesama suddenly blushed while hugging me and exclaimed.

"You are just so cute and handsome."

This has happend quite sometime for the past years ever since my hair turned silver, I was surprised at first when she did it because she usually seems so mature, but I got used to it over time.

"Sister, we should go."

I told her. She nodded and put me down, but she won't let go of my hand, so we walked out with the others while holding hands until we got out of the tent.

We then went to eat at a restaurant where the carriage was parked at.

After eating, we decided to talk about what to do next.

"So what should we do now?"[Felicia]

"Since it's the first time Sol came to the city, we should let him have a look around the city, let Sophia and Elena accompany him."[Liza]

I was interested in looking around the city, so I accepted the offer.

"That sounds interesting, then I'll do that."

"Then you kids go have fun and buy something you might like, me and Felicia will go back to the mansion by another carriage, so come back to the carriage before the sky gets dark when you're done."

Aunt Liza warned us and mother gave me 15 gold coins. We just nodded in reply and went out of the restaurant.

Sophia-Oneesama and Liza then brought me around the city and showed me the markets and shops while Elena is explaining how the city is divided.

"In the North is the Noble area where the home of nobles are situated, in the South is where the home of commoners and the slums are situated, while from East to the West is where the markets and shops are situated, the cheaper stores are located in the West, while the more expensive ones are located at the East, in the Center is where the examination tent and auction house is at."

Suddenly, I felt an attraction force and stopped in front of a stall. The stall looks rather shabby, especially with the beggar looking man with a lowered head under a straw hat and unshaved beard behind the counter, but what attracted me is what the stall held.

The items there looks like a bunch of junk bundled together, but when I looked closer, I saw a white stone at the size of my fist. It seems to be what attracted me to it.

I tried to appraise it, but nothing came out of it. That means this item must be quite special.

Suddenly, a hand tapped my shoulder, and when I turned my head, I saw Sophia-Oneesama's face with Elena next to her with a questioning look before asking me.

"What are you doing here, Sol?"

"I want to buy that white stone, mister, what's the price for that white stone?"

The man then raised his head and looked directly into my eyes, when I saw his eyes, my body shook a bit. All I could think of at that time is.

'I know those type of eyes, those are eyes that has seen countless deaths, eyes that have killed, and eyes that have brought destruction, he's no beggar, he's an expert.'

The man then raised an eyebrow before lowering his head and said.

"1 gold coin."

Sophia-Oneesama and Elena wanted to protest.

Their reaction is understandable, because the economy in this world works like this:

1 loaf of bread is 5 copper coin,

100 copper coin is 1 silver coins,

100 silver coin is 1 gold coin,

100 gold coin is 1 black gold coin, and

100 black gold coin is 1 platinum coin.

but I just stopped them and raised my hand while giving a reassuring smile and said.

"Don't worry, I'll buy it."

I then took out 1 gold coin and gave it to the beggar looking man before taking the stone and leaving without looking back.

-----Beggar Looking Man's PoV-----

Looking at the departing boy's back, I mused in my heart

'What a monstrous child, he could see through me just by looking into my eyes, what an interesting child, I hope we meet again young one.'

I then played with the gold coin he gave me while departing from the-now-empty-stall with a cloth bag on my back.
