Chapter 15: Learning Magic
-----Sol's PoV-----
Opening my eyes, I see the window next to my bed shimmering with light.
Slowly, I lifted my body and got down from the bed before slowly walking to the window.
Opening it, I can see the morning sun going up the horizon.
Yawning, I stretched my body before walking groggily to the bath.
Inside, I dived into the already prepared tub water. A few minutes later, my mind starts to clear up from the sleepiness and my memories of the meeting with Virs starts to resurface.
'I guess I need to hold back from killing.'
I then lifted my head up and looked at the ceiling of the bathroom in a daze.
Suddenly, someone knocked on the bathroom's door which caused my mind to return from its dazed state.
"Young master, breakfast is prepared."
"I'll be out of the bath in a moment then."
I answered the person which seems to be one of the house maids
I then went out of the bath and dried my body with a towel before putting on a plain white shirt and trousers.
Going out of the bathroom, I saw the maid standing there.
When the maid heard the creaking sound of a door being opened, she turned to look at it. Seeing that I came out of the bath, she bowed respectfully before turning around and motioning me to follow her. I gave a light nod before following her.
Not long after, we finally reached the dining room. The maid knocked at the door before saying respectfully.
"I have brought the young master."
"Let him in then."
Father's reply sounded out from the other side of the door.
The maid then opened the door before motioning for me to enter.
After I entered the room, I hear the sound of the door closing.
I then sat down on the dining table together with father, mother, and Aaliyah. Apparently Sophia already went back to the academy after I was called by father since her leave time is almost up.
After I sat down, everyone finally starts eating. The breakfast in this world is similar to the food in my past world, but surprisingly, I found out that rice is a luxury food which mostly only nobles are able to eat. It seems like the agriculture in this world is quite lacking too.
After finishing my food, I was about to go back to my room to try cultivating. But suddenly, mother called out my name as I stood up.
"Sol, can you come here for a moment?"
Mother and Aaliyah sat across me and father, so I had to go around the table to get to mother.
But either way, I still went to her while wondering to myself what she would ask of me.
When I got closer to mother, I noticed that she seems to have something on her lap, but because she covered the item with her hand, I couldn't take a clear look which caused my curiosity to increase.
When I'm finally about 1 arm length away from mother, she took out the item on her lap and held it out to me. Looking at it, it seems to be a single thin book that looks rather ragged.
"Since you already have your affinity examined, it's time for you to learn how to cast magic. These books can teach you how to cast magic and the basic spells of all affinities."
Hearing that, I grew excited, but I then noticed something and was about to ask mother before she suddenly cut me off.
"I know what you want to ask, your father doesn't have a single book about magic in his library since he doesn't have talents for it in the first place. Actually, most demi-humans and draconians doesn't have talent for magic in the first place, but since you have the blood of moon elves and draconians within you, you are still able to do magic."
I was quite surprised after hearing that, especially after knowing that father doesn't have talent in magic. It caused me to unconsciously took a glance at father.
When father noticed my glance, he gave a wry smile before he hung his head, as if he already resigned to his fate.
Seeing that, I made a wry smile before turning my head to look back at my mother.
"Thank you mother."
I said to mother with a smile, mother then made a smile before allowing me to go.
As I left the dining room, I decided to go to the courtyard to study.
After walking for a while, I arrived at the courtyard and decided to start studying.
In the first part of the book, it explains the theory of magic.
Magic is an action of bending the laws of the world by controlling the magic energy of the world and make it do your bidding. From what is known, everything in this world is constructed of a certain energy, and magic energy has the ability to control a fraction of this energy, the higher the affinity a person has with the magic energy, the more effective will their magics be. But after a deeper research, it's found that each things is controlled by different kinds of magic energy, that's where the affinities comes in.
The 7 affinities can control material of their respective elements, but on the other hand, the 4 great affinites can control laws of the world. But after a long time, the researchers still wasn't able to understand 2 affinities, the Destruction and Divine affinity. The researchers called it the chaotic affinity since it was known as the most uncontrollable affinity, these affinities are also suspected to involve heavily on emotions.
After that, the book explained how to use magic. Apparently, unlike cultivating, we can just use external or internal magical energy to do magic, mages and sorcerers usually prefers external over internal magical energy, but the amount of controllable external magical energy is all based on the mind and spirit of the person. On the other hand, internal energies are
To cast a spell, it requires sufficient magical energy and a solid image of process of the altered laws, but because most people can't make the solid image of it, they replaced it with incantations which resulted in the power of the magic to be reduced.
After reading it, I proceeded to the basic spells. After skimming through the book, I finally found the basic spells.
Flame light, basic Fire spell.
Stun spark, basic Lightning spell.
Ball of Darkness, basic Darkness spell.
Solid space, unranked Space-Time spell.

Void space, unranked Void spell.
Basic rank spell is a rank under the apprentice rank spell, but the difference in power is worlds apart. Basic spells are mostly a spell that can only be used for daily necessities like to get water or lighting a fire.
On the other hand, apprentice spells can be used for offensive, but it is rather weak.
First, I tried to use the spells with incantation.
I then raised my palm and chanted the incantation
"『Spirit of fire, bestow me with light of fire』【Flame Light】."
Then a candle light suddenly showed up on top of my palm. I then flicked my arm which caused the flame to dissipate.
Next, I tried to use the spell with no incantation.
I first focused on controlling the magical energy, since I have《Spirit Eyes》I have a big advantage.
I then willed the fire energy to group on the tip of my finger, causing the temperature to slowly rise until a candle flame once again showed up on it.
Seeing this, I nodded approvingly before flicking my hand and continuing to the next spell.
Once again, I tried willing the lightning energy to focus on the tip of my finger, but because of the thin existense of lightning energy, it took quite a while.
After a while, a small crackling golden orb showed up on the tip of my finger.
Looking around, I found a little squirrel near a pine tree that's currently trying to eat an acorn.
With a mischievious grin, I threw the golden orb at the squirrel. The squirrel was to busy trying to crack the acorn to notice the golden orb that's currently flying at it unil it was about a foot away. But because of how fast the orb was, the squirrel only had time to let out a squeak before it was hit by the orb. After the squirrel was hit by the orb, it froze in place like a statue for a second before it let out a loud sqeak and climbed up the pine tree to hide.
I unconsciously made a chuckle when I saw the squirrel's reaction.
Not long after, I continued with my experiments.
During day time, darkness element orb is almost non existent, it can only be found in a place that is isolated from light or a shadow
And since Ball of Darkness is a darkness type spell, I need to use the shadows as a source of darkness element, since the only light isolated room is inside the mansion.
Looking down to my shadow with my《Spirit Eyes》, I can see a small amount of darkness around it. Darkness magic has a sub-magic class called shadow magic, shadow magic focus solely on the art of using shadows like blending in with it or entering the world of shadows, because of that, shadow magic is mostly used by assassins.
I then tugged on the darkness energy on my shadows and then turn them into the the shape of a ball on top of my palm. The hard part is the need to isolate the darkness energy from the light energy around it.
Slowly, an orb of inky darkness formed on top of my palm. Even though the magic is of the darkness element, it doesn't really give out an eerie feeling.
Ball of Darkness is actually only used to make a source of energy for a stronger darkness spell or when there is source of darkness energy around.
I then dissolved the spell before continuing to the spells of the great affinities.
The spell of the great affinities are vastly different than the spell of the normal affinities. Most of the spells of great affinities doesn't have a rank, because the prowess of those spells increase as the invoker of the spell gets stronger.
And the great affinities can be rather hard to use since the spells of these affinities literally bends common sense and the worldly laws. Time can be reversed, a life can be returned, the dead can be made to move, and you can even erase an existense. The biggest problem people have with the great affinities is how hard it is to even have the talent to use it.
I then proceeded to cast the spell of Space-Time magic, Solid space, this spell is actually only used to harden a space, but if a mage us strong and skilled enough, he can make the hardened space be harder than the hardest metal in existense which made it an unranked spell.
Finding Space-Time energy is very easy since it basically exist everywhere and anywhere. So I just willed the energy to fuse together and compress on top of my palm.
After a while, I stopped adding energy to the top of my palm. I then tried to lift my palm, but it met a resistence, but after I add a bit more force, the resistence was destroyed and I can see the Space-Time energy starts to break apart and spread out.
The results was rather decent, in the book, a beginner usually only managed to make a hardened space that's crushable by a light touch.
Next is the Void spell, Void space, this spell is known as a spell that most void mage is only capable of doing because of the big difference between Void affinity with the other 3 great affinities. This spell is basically a spell that devours things and erase it from existense, but the things that is eraseable is all based on how capable the mage is. A mage that just learned void magic usually can only erase a single grain.
So I looked around and found a rock the size of a palm, I then focused on the void energy and tried making them move to the rock. When the void energy came in contact with the rock, the rock slowly starts to erode and finally disappears. This spell can be made in a larger scale by compressing the void energy and make it into a larger form, but I decided to refrain from doing it in case it hit the garden.
I smiled contendly at the result of my magic experiments.
Looking at the sky, I saw that the sky already darkened, so I decided to return to my room to read and play with Aaliyah until dinner time before going to bed.
I'm still rather excited to learn more magic, but as for going to a school, I'm still wondering about how it would be now.

A/N: *BOOOM* *makes a cool entrance* Hi people, chapter 15 done, next chapter will be either about Aaliyah's daily life or maybe just directly go to the Academy arc, but meh, gonna flip a coin and see what it will be.
On another note, gonna make a side fiction, don't know what it's called, but it will be fun, for me atleast, kekeke.
