Val's eyes narrowed as he looked at the four individuals charging towards him.

He couldn't help but notice the distinct powers that each possessed.

So, he thought, 'Mutants?!'

Mutant #1 gritted his teeth and clenched his fists until massive spikes sprouted out from his arms.

He tore off one of the spikes, holding it like a javelin aimed directly at Val and threw it at him.

Val's gaze shifted to his scorched and tattered NYPD uniform, a sigh escaping his lips.

Reluctantly, he tore off the remnants, exposing his bare upper body to the unfolding battle.

Raising his eyes, he was greeted by the sight of a massive wooden spike hurtling towards him.

He absorbed the surrounding energy and assimilated it in his body, making himself stronger.

Then, he simply held out his hand on which the spike collided.

* BANG *

Mutant #1's eyes widened in astonishment as his initial attack was effortlessly halted by Val.

Undeterred, he tore off a cluster of spikes from his arms and hurled them at Val once more.

Meanwhile, Mutant #2's body radiated with a brilliant glow, undergoing a transformation into a fiery, feminine figure resembling a golem.

She propelled herself towards Val, launching a powerful punch in his direction.

However, Val's keen reflexes and agility allowed him to anticipate the attack.

With a swift sidestep, he evaded the incoming blow, leaving Mutant #2 momentarily off balance.

Seizing the opportunity, Val struck back. His fist aimed squarely at Mutant #2's stomach as she remained suspended in mid-air.

The sight of Val effortlessly avoiding her attack filled her with a mix of surprise and alarm.

She was even more alarmed when she saw Val throwing a punch at her and she thought, 'Well, even though he evaded my punch, I am safe from his attacks. Nobody can break through my skin....'

* BOOM *

Val's punch connected with a resounding impact against Mutant #2's abdomen.

The mutant's eyes widened in sheer astonishment and her body was engulfed in a wave of excruciating pain.

Helpless against the force, she was flung backward, propelled by the sheer force of Val's blow.

* BANG *

* BANG *

She flew backwards in the air and her body collided with the large wooden spikes thrown by Mutant #1.

The spikes crashed into Mutant #2's back, but her stony exterior proved resilient, shattering the projectiles upon impact.

* BOOM *

* THUD *

Mutant #2 collided with the wall of the warehouse and slid downward as she fell on the ground.

Wincing at the pain she was feeling all over he body, she thought, 'Well, I take back what I said earlier. This guy can break through my skin.',... and she lost consciousness.

Val, on the other hand, glanced at Mutant #2 falling on the floor and he glanced at Mutant #1.

Val took a step forward and instantly burst forward with a shockwave that spread around him.

* BOOM *

Mutant #1 saw an afterimage of Val at a distance away but before he could react, he saw Val arrive right in front of him.

Alarmed, he raised his arms in defense against Val as he thought, 'Come on! Hit me! My spikes will tear up your hand! You won't have hands anymore!'

However, what he felt next was widely different.

Val, first glanced at his legs which were exposed and hit them with a powerful kick.

* WHAM *

Mutant #1 lost his footing and he was about to fall.

He was caught off guard by the sudden attack and flailed his arms in the air desperately to regain his balance.

Val then, aimed a punch at his chest directly.

* WHAM *

Mutant #1 groaned, "Ufghf!" when Val's punch connected with his chest and he felt that the punch knocked the air out of his lungs.

* BOOM *

Val saw Mutant #1 crash into the ground with a resounding impact.

He saw Mutant #1's eyes roll back and lose consciousness and thought, 'Two done, two more to go!'

He turned around and saw Mutant #3 hesitating to fight as her eyes glanced repeatedly at Mutant #1 and Mutant #2 whereas Mutant #4 was already flying straight at him.

Val ignored Mutant #4 and with a sudden burst of speed, he charged toward Mutant #3.

Mutant #3 looked at Mutant #1 and Mutant #2 and thought, 'What the fuck is up with this guy? He knocked Daniela out with a single punch?! And, poor Mason! He was knocked out like a fool!'

Suddenly, she snapped back when she saw Val arrive right in front of her.

Val noticed the fear in Mutant #3's eyes, and it seemed like she wanted to convey something.

However, he chose to disregard her pleas and instead delivered a swift, yet gentle strike to her neck.

* WHAM *

Val carefully observed Mutant #3 as she lost consciousness, catching her body to ensure she didn't hit the ground too hard.

He gently laid her down, making sure she was comfortable.

Just as he finished attending to Mutant #3, Val sensed the presence of Mutant #4 closing in.

Reacting swiftly, he spun around and unleashed a forceful sideways kick, aimed directly at Mutant #4.

* WHAM *

Mutant #4 was sent flying by the powerful impact of Val's kick, hurtling through the air before crashing heavily onto the floor.

* THUD *

Val's eyes darted towards the motionless body of Mutant #4 and thought, 'Four down!'

But his attention quickly shifted to 'Hannah,' and he thought, 'Just one left!'
