I bared my tendrils at my opponent.
I felt the irresistible urge to charge straight at it like a maddened beast, and unleash all my rage, but I simply couldn’t do that.
From the loud noise, and the noise there was no doubt about the size of my opponent, this time I was up against something the size of a two-story house, countless times my size,
What type of monster?
A magical beast for sure.
If I had to guess which species this could be it would be a Drake, after all, that’s pretty much the only species around here.
The beast hurled at me, I evaded its attack propelling myself onto the air with my tentacle.
After that, I sent out my tentacle as a whipping attack at it in an attempt to figure out how though its scale was.
If I had to describe how it felt, it was like punching a rough rock without using aina.
“This is bad.”
The alleged whipped Drake jumped straight leaped, straight at me who was still midair, but with the net-like barrier surrounding my whole body, he’ll need more than that to reach me.
The advantage of my enhanced tentacle limb is that they possess the toughness of an enhanced on aina sword with the malleability of a strand of hair.
He seemed to have leaped straight with the intent to chew me with its but thanks to my net his head was stopped two meters away from my face.
I was bathed with its hot breath,
I sent out my free tendrils to restrain its whole body, but midway, It suddenly opened up its mouth.
I didn’t have to be a genius to know what would happen next,
Using its head to propel me away, I dodge managed past slip attack that would have roasted me, if it had caught me in.
I wasn’t even able to completely dodge when a fire breath came out of the drake’s mouth. I was able to narrowly dodge the dragon’s breath, so my body was completely unarmed, well…
except maybe some of my tentacles, one of the strands of my tentacle fell apart due to the fire breath, could feel it.
As I thought this I can’t simply go on ignoring this weakness, at this point, this is literally a nemesis more than a simple weakness.
Suddenly the ground around began to ramble, several spiky spears emerged from the ground just below me clearly trying to impale me, which they failed to succeed for only a hair breath.
Those were long, thin, and pointed enough to pierce my net-like barrier, much like a needle through clothing.
“Dammit…”
I back off, jumping around like a bunny but these things seemed to endlessly emerge from the ground.
I was still trying to avoid those things, and I was overwhelmed, but not even a second later, I heard the Drake charging at me once again.
I immediately sent out all of my available free tentacles to restrain at least its mouth, fully aware that Drake would not miss noticing that my biggest weakness is literally fire, an element with which they were extremely endowed.
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
After that, I launched myself onto it to deliver my most powerful kick, but it abruptly maneuvered its body in such a way that instead of me reaching its head, it was its tail that went slamming onto me.
The tail slam only reached my barrier, but it still did slightly knock me down and would have knocked me down further if one of my tentacles hadn't been restraining its mouth which had also served me as an anchor.
For better or worse, its tail slam had the effect of sending my body straight into the monster's head.
I repositioned myself on the back of its neck, taking the best position I could behind its neck.
From there, I sent one or two of my tentacles toward its front and legs, and instead of restraining them, I splayed them away from one another. This caused the monster to lose its balance, and its head slammed heavily on the ground, which I immediately used to launch my attack.
My arm wasn't completely healed. I had no choice but to strike with the only limbs I had at my disposal: two feet.
Having the occasion to release my wrath,.
“Graaaaaaah!” I screamed.
On its skull, I stomped again and again and again...
My feet were small compared to its gigantic corpulence but it dealt its fair share of damage.
“Feel my wrath! That was all you deserve, whether you are a descendant of a dragon or an apostle! All of you will pay for getting on my way!”
I broke through its though scale.
Tore up through its mighty skull,
Split its squishy and smelly bloodstained brain.
After a while only when I had nothing of energy left, completely exhausted, it’s only then that I stopped.
The Drake’s body was already devoid of warmth, it was dead for a long time already, it was just that I persecuted my rage against its lifeless corpse.
When I was done with the Drake, I went to where the ovoid things were, found one, and sat right next to it.
It didn't make a difference, but I closed my eyes and let my mind wander.
I'm not sure how long I was there, but it was a long time.
There was no doubt in my mind that I had won that fight, but it wasn't enough.
How long can I win against something like that? Fire is my greatest weakness, and magical beasts around here are mostly fire-breathing Dragonoids like the one from earlier.
Furthermore, that thing was capable of using that earth magic, which easily passed through what I had expected to be an excellent barrier.
I didn't flee, but I was thoroughly humiliated.
When I noticed a strange noise coming from below me, like a loud but muffled respiration, I wanted to scream unfairness.
The noise came from an upward platform not far from the one I was, perhaps a hundred meters above my current location.
I hurled myself from platform to platform until I arrived at my desired location.
The entire platform was managed in some way to form what I believe to be a giant nest.
Nest in which four small creatures were screeching aggressively at me right in front of me.
If I had to guess, these were the beast from earlier children's.
Despite being beasts, dragons, and their subspecies, according to what I've read, value family bonds.
After determining the source of the noise, I turned around and prepared to leave.
When the four creatures suddenly fire-breathed at me.
I created a shield between myself and the creature with my tentacle,
“Tsk,”
I grabbed them all from the neck and held them in the air.
I was ready to spare them but they decided to attack me nonetheless.
It reminded me of what happened that night. That night, I killed those people because they didn't give me or Syrus any other options.
Yet I did for them, I gave them the opportunity to live, yet they had purposefully chosen this fate when there was another option available to them.
They could have grown into something similar to their parent, if not stronger if they hadn't done what they did, but they had chosen another path: Immediate Death.
Their neck snapped with a creak.
After that, I let go of their bodies and returned to where I had come from.
For the time being, I really need to find something to do about those tendrils; I can't keep going like this; I needed something to replace those tendrils,
Something fire-proof.
If possible, a more long-lasting, perkier, but also longer, which would give me more flexibility...
I doubt I'll ever find something better than this.
I doubt I'll ever find something better than this.
Unless…
Despite the fact that I couldn't see anything, I found myself staring down below.
