Chapter 61 - Season 2 - Sonata’s First Dungeon

[Lysander]: “I take it that you two are Travelers?”

Travelers, what the people in this world commonly call us players.

[Lysander]: “Here’s your reward.”

With a single wave, he summons a chest with the use of his ring.

* Royal Chest / Contains 1.000.000 Golds

Rosa hums as she collects half of it.

[Lysander]: “Say, miss Rosa, and by extension, your partner here. Would you like to do another job for us? I promise it pays just as well if not better.”

Her eyes gleamed, but she looks at me for confirmation.

[Siola]: “No, we’ve earned enough. Maybe next time.”

[Lysander]: “Hmm, is that so. Well in that case, on behalf of the kingdom, I thank you for your assistance in capturing this criminal.”

[Siola]: “We’re glad to help.”

Sidestepping the blood on the floor,

[Siola]: “Let’s go.”

Rosa and I left the premise. Although the quest was a short one, we still spent hours that we could have used to leveling instead. As the sun is about to set, I’m still scouring the forums as Rosa massages my shoulders. I never asked for it, but it’s nice.

[Siola]: “I have a goal, Rosa, but I can’t reach it yet.”

[Rosa]: “And you won’t tell me?”

[Siola]: “No, but what I can tell you though is my plan to get to it. However, first…”

[Siola]: “I just want to say sorry about what I said before. How everything meant nothing, including your help. They do, but it’s not as much for me.”

[Rosa]: “Heheh, I have never needed your apology. You should never have a need to.”

A little chuckle out of me.

[Siola]: “Our first order of business is climbing through the ranks. There’s a lot of dungeons in this part of the region, so we don’t need to go beyond Sonata’s borders to look for them.”

[Rosa]: “So, you will take over the number one after all.”

[Siola]: “That status is just a ranking in terms of level. It doesn’t mean you’re the best.”

[Siola]: “We will pass those rankers regardless, but what we actually need is powering up ourselves. Items, abilities, things that are more important in a fight. We will rack up achievements in the meanwhile, and then we may proceed to the major leagues. The championship where every best player in the world gathers, or maybe not.”

[Rosa]: “Hmm, and what’s the status of that Mona?”

[Siola]: “Surprisingly, she’s in a good place at it too. Rank 8.”

[Rosa]: “Hou, so, she really is not the best one after all.”

[Rosa]: “Hmm, so what does it take for one to be the best player here?”

[Siola]: “Many things. Strategy, reflex, you’ll fit right in, I promise. There’s no need to be in a rush since the both of us have pretty much only just started.”

[Rosa]: “Hm. You know plenty about this game. Guess I wouldn’t have to worry.”

Although I said we may go to the championship, does it even have any value to me? It’s not like I’m going to be facing the legends from past life.

Rosa and I set out to our first dungeon but it’s night time. Something one should always avoid to be in due to the Night Terrors. Similar to what Minty and I have encountered beneath the Dread Black dungeon. The spawns of the mad dead. The undead have those red eyes that increases their aggression and ferocity. But Night Terrors applies not just to the dead.

Some big monsters won’t have it, but small ones. They become ferocious. Not to mention, new ghastly creatures that roam around in the woods.

[Rosa]: “I see, so that’s what those creatures are.”

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

[Rosa]: “No wonder they prove to be quite troublesome than their regular counterparts.”

[Rosa]: “But you can pummel them to their death, yes?”

Shaking my head.

[Siola]: “What you’ve seen before is called Pantheon Drive, it’s something derived from Limit Break. What it does is giving you power, but once it’s over, there’s a massive setback.”

[Siola]: “Last time I used it, I grew half unconscious for almost an hour.”

[Rosa]: “Sounds… dangerous. How do you come across it?”

[Siola]: “I don’t know. It happens when I was really ticked off, and I can’t exactly explain it, but I can use that ability whenever I want ever since.”

[Rosa]: “Heheh, I see. Well, I’ll try to let loose when something angers me.”

[Siola]: “You should. It’s good to the mind.”

[Rosa]: “…”

I see something in the distance. Small and there’s multiple of them.

[Siola]: “Goblins, Rosa.”

[Rosa]: “Let me. You’re a bit rowdy.”

[Siola]: “Heheh, all yours.”

Claws, a type of fist-weapon that is rarely used due to their range. People prefer daggers simply because they resemble the thing they often use, knives, or simply just other type of fist weapons, commonly gauntlets. But in the right hand, one can easily unlock the full potential of claws. And even in this environment where being hidden is involved. It still works wonders.

Rosa pierces the goblin’s mouth from the back and put it down to the grass. Even when she’s right in front of them, she still hasn’t been found.

Decapitated, chopped, she makes quick work of the goblins.

* [3x] Magic Core / Common / Contains the soul of a low ranked creature

* [5x] Goblin Ear / Common / Goblin body part

[Rosa]: “Do they really have nothing valuable to offer?”

[Siola]: “Well, sometime they do have enchanted accessories, or so I’ve heard at least.”

Continuing our journey. There’s a vine leading to a platform above where there is a tall ladder leading to another one above it.

[Rosa]: “It seems we’re in the right place, sis.”

[Siola]: “Don’t call me sis.”

[Rosa]: “What, you’re still mad at me?”

[Siola]: “No, it’s something else. But yes, that feeling will never left me. After everything that you did, I can never forgive you. Regardless whether that asshole is with you or not.”

[Rosa]: “Heheh, something you can’t say at the moment, yes? I’ll be patient.”

[Rosa]: “We have all the time in the world, after all.”

[Siola]: “?”

Climbing the vines, climbing the tall ladder, and it’s not as grippy as I expected.

I fell.

Feet crossed to the ladder. My wrist gripped tightly by two rough gloves.

[Rosa]: “Heheh, losing your edge, I see.”

[Siola]: “I’ll be fine even if you dropped me down.”

[Rosa]: “Heh.”

Helping me get back to the ladder. I must say, her athletic agility has already surpassed mine. I guess that new body of hers is not just for looks.

With some patient, we reached the summit. There we see a few people closing down shop and some entering a large gate to the dungeon.

As we approach the gate.

[Man]: “Oi, the hell you two goin’ huh?”

Three large men blocked our path.

[Man]: “Never seen you here before. If you wanna enter, you either have to be in Heavenly God Sword guild or pay 25.000 Golds. Per person.”

Looking up to the one in the middle, I lift my hand for a shake, “Here.”

[Man]: “?”

! {50.000 Golds has been transferred}

[Man]: “Oh! Well, go on in then, lil ladies.”

The path is cleared, and we entered the dungeon. It is called Magen Repath. A 5-floor dungeon that has yet to be conquered. The first floor has a small stream of lava, and there are thousands of mutated turtles in the area.

{Magma-rock tortoise / Level 45}

These things shoot lava out of their mouth, leaving trail of fire whenever they took a step, but they’re slow. A perfect place for me and Rosa. Especially so with her reflexes.

Easily competing against their gnawing attack, and won.

* [1x] Magic Core / Uncommon / Contains the soul of a low ranked creature

* [1x] Staff of Magma / Heavy Weapon / Uncommon / Physical Attack: 10 / Magical Attack: 25 / Enchantment: Fire-based Spells have increased 25% Potency / Requirement: 3 Strength, 3 Endurance, 2 Intelligence

[Rosa]: “I’m surprised you wouldn’t just kill those bastards when you could.”

[Siola]: “Just because I could, doesn’t mean I should.”

[Rosa]: “Is that right, well I’ve obtained this. Think you can use it?”

[Siola]: “Yes, but it is useless at the moment.”

Rosa keeps on rampaging on those turtles. Her movement is so different than what I remember. She used to be less agile and couldn’t even be compared to mine. But now, she’s like an entirely different person.

It almost feels like a good thing.

[Rosa]: “Yes! I did it, Siola. I can use that new ability given to me when I have the bard class!”

[Siola]: “Oh?”

[Siola]: “Well, try it then.”

She took out her violin and let her hand do its thing. Hums and gentle swing before it’s pumping up full of adrenaline.
