Chapter 60 – Season 2 – Missive

Chapter 60 – Season 2 – Missive

[Siola]: “A bard?”

[Siola]: “Rogue suits you more than that mess of a class.”

[Rosa]: “Whatever do you mean. I never had the option to choose this, and I want it.”

[Siola]: “Well, if that’s what you want then who am I to keep you from it.”

[Rosa]: “I lost the one I have with the rogue, but I’ve obtained this ability from the new class.”

* Melodic Empowerment / Rank 1 / Arcane-miracle / By the use of your instrument, bless your immediate party with a temporary boost to their physical condition, granting additional 25 Max Health, Max Mana, Max Stamina, and additional 10% to their Physical Defense and Magical Defense for 300 seconds / Cost: 5 Mana / Requirement: 5 Dexterity, 5 Agility, 1 Intelligence, 1 faith

[Siola]: “Hm, so you need two more levels to use it then.”

[Siola]: “Alright, let’s get to it.”

[Rosa]: “Wait, I think we shouldn’t just be doing that with our time. Do you have any other plan aside from getting stronger?”

[Siola]: “Hmm, well, we’ll want to have some money. There are good things I’ve seen that I couldn’t afford because all I have is items, and no golds.”

[Rosa]: “Can’t you turn money into golds?”

[Siola]: “That’d be a waste, no?”

[Rosa]: “Is it?”

[Siola]: “…”

[Rosa]: “Well, in that case, I’ve seen some missives posted on that board.”

I’ve been thinking about just offloading everything we sell to a general store, but I guess doing some missions would be just fine.

[Siola]: “No, hold on.”

I think it’s because she’s not really familiar with trading. But why doing missives is the first thing she thinks of when we’re trying to make money?

Whatever it is, we decided to check the board. Apparently, guards posted them there.

{Quest}

* Missing Pet / A somewhat big Moonshell Tortoise is missing [Show more] / Reward: 30.000 Golds / Requested By: HavenRift House, Dorothy

[Siola]: “Hmm… these quests’ rewards are too low for me.”

[Rosa]: “This one.”

* Manhunt – Royal Decree / Your skills and courage are required to capture this criminal mastermind before more innocent lives are lost [Show more] / Reward: 1.000.000 Golds / Requested By: Guard Lysander, Royal Headquarters Entrance

[Siola]: “Only one million? That’s like $10.000, but I suppose it’s a good enough.”

[Rosa]: “Look, his face looks like he just went through a depression. Like you.”

[Siola]: “…”

An ex-baron called Jigi. Standing at 5’ 6’’, assassin class, emaciated. Hunting for an assassin sounds like a bad idea. Not if you are one as well. I’m a spellcaster, a mage, at least I used to be. But assassination is not about what one class uses. Sure, it can be useful in killing the target. But there are plenty of ways to kill a target. However, there’s something odd about this.

Steak and carrot on a platter served to me by Rosa as we are sitting in a restaurant.

[Rosa]: “Left side, yours. Up on the corner. See the orange one?”

Glancing to her right side. Our guy is having a serious conversation with a merchant and another.

[Siola]: “You could simply fwoot, and be done with it, but cutting is not an option here.”

Cutting through the steak.

[Rosa]: “Heheh, it feels like you’ve done this so many times before.”

[Siola]: “Hmph.”

Not talking about the steak, not talking about the whole assassination either. No, I’ve been playing games long before my weird phase. Plus, Rakuri and Kurira always took me on their weird missions, I didn’t know then that they weren’t just a game fanatic.

[Siola]: “Eww.”

[Siola]: “Did they not even bother season it?”

It took an hour to find the guy, and to think that he’s not even bothered to hide. I have my assumption here.

[Rosa]: “I like an eel better.”

[Siola]: “Eel?”

[Rosa]: “Mhm, though it’s hard to prepare if you don’t know what you’re doing.”

[Siola]: “Well, what it needs is a little poke to the head, and it won’t be going anywhere.”

[Rosa]: “…”

Any teleportation ability is a possibility.

Before the guy finishes his conversation with his friends, Rosa is already out. Keeping an eye on him throughout. In the marketplace, I finally got to see how she’s doing it, and talk about surprise. I wouldn’t even be able to tell where she is exactly without her telling me. Even with the clothes I gave her, it doesn’t even matter when she’s blending all too well with the crowd.

But I can see the target well enough.

* [Luosa]: 3 second when you read this

Upon seeing her looking into her mail, I quickly cast a sign with a chop, “Mindsplitter.”

She moves without even a shred of hesitation as the man receives the mental attack. It doesn’t matter if he has any magical defense, he’s gonna feel the damage as it bypasses it, and it doesn’t matter whether or not he was stunned by it either. Unfortunately for him, he was.

Taken him off the street. He’s tied to a chair somewhere only Rosa and I know. Isolated from the outside world. She fetches the request and I’m left with him alone.

“Guhk… Hnngh…”

*Pant *Pant

“Wh-Who are you people, no, who are you, why’re you doing this?!”

Showing him the picture quest, “This you?”

His eyes peeled, “N-No, you got the wrong person. I’m I’m not a noble, I’m just a farmer.”

“Is that so?”

“Y-Yes. Wh-Why would I be here? I’m not even hiding or anything. Please, don’t kill me.”

Holding his eyes. Slightly twitching but there’s not even a nervous sweat.

“…”

“Well? Wh-What’re you waiting for? L-Let me out!”

“Are you saying I got the wrong person?”

“Yes! You are! Please. I have a family back home! I’m not the one you think I am.”

What an idiot. No, it makes sense for him to try that maneuver, but as a player, Rosa and I wouldn’t even be able to get away unscathed when we attack an NPC here in a safe zone.

“I see.”

His eyes gleamed.

“Well, since you know us now and what we’re after. I have no choice but to kill you now.”

“H-Huh?”

I stood.

He grinded his teeth, “Y-You fucker.”

Quickly teleporting to the door, only to face plant to it before falling to the ground.

My belly rumble as I snickered.

“Grrr.”

“Is it my bounty? You’re planning to hand me over to the guards?! Then you’re making a mistake!”

“And why is that?”

“Do you even know why I am?”

Rolling my eyes, “Just get to the point before I crush your brains out.”

“Look, I know what I've done isn't exactly noble, but trust me when I say the kingdom's the real problem here. And people I kill isn’t really innocent either. I belong to Blue Raven, surely, you’ve heard of it? We’re trying to bring justice and peace to Sonata. To stop the war!”

Leaning down on him, “I need golds. The price on your head is 1 million, can you give me that?”

“O-One million?!” nervously laughing, “I see, so the royal family’s gone desperate, huh. They sent you here to capture me.”

Not really, your face is just on the missive board.

“I don’t have much money, but if you come to the—.”

Well, I’ve heard enough of that. Sighing as I cast a sign.

“H-Hey, wh-what’re you doing?”

“Conjure Beast Spawn.”

Her eyes widened as a growling skeletal beast appeared from the dark magical circle in the ground. He looks at me in the eye. I don’t take pleasure to this, but I want to guarantee my money.

Soon, Rosa opened the door with a buffed tall dude walking in. His eyes peeled after witnessing the scene in this room. The target in question floating above his chair with no limbs. Several spheres of light surrounding him, healing him but they cannot restore his limbs that are now scattered on the ground, drenched in his blood.

But the man is still conscious, he sees the man coming in.

[Jigi]: “Lysander.”

[Lysander]: “Ran out of luck, huh, Jigi.”

I release my telekinesis and let him fall on his face against the chair. The sound it makes as he fell to the ground was nice.

[Rosa]: “Did you really have to do that, Siola?”

[Siola]: “Well, as it turns out, he got a teleportation ability. I didn’t know whether it’s an enchantment on his person or whether he has a spell for it.”

[Rosa]: “Is it then?”

[Siola]: “Nope.”

I show her his boots.

* Boots of Shadow Steps / Light Armor / Epic / Physical Defense: 100 / Magical Defense: 145 / Enchantment: Increases Dexterity by 15. Has innate spell [Shadow Steps]. Allows the wearer to teleport to lightly obscured area at Will, 30-second cooldown / Requirement: 40 Dexterity, 20 Agility, 20 Intelligence

[Rosa]: “Ohh, it all sounds wonderful.”

The man, Lysander, grabbed the thief and put him in a sack alongside all of his limbs.

[Lysander]: “I take it that you two are Travelers?”
