Chapter 7: Nightwolf Monster

"Well, if Neutron also existed in this era, then they must have experienced the same thing as he did," Hayato thought as he watched Raff's behavior.

"Then your decision to become a student of the Elexia Academy is correct. Party Neutron members will definitely not be rash when they experience something like you did, they will prefer to move cautiously and try to gather as much information as possible," Hayato said.

"Yes. Then take me to the Elexia Academy right away, so that I can gather information about my friends as well," Raff said seriously.

"That is not so easy. We will not leave until tomorrow, because the carriage that goes to the Ruttera capital only runs in the morning and afternoon. Tonight, you should come with me to the inn to rest," Hayato said.

"Well, I'm already hungry from the fight," Raff said while holding his stomach. "Hehehe..." Raff chuckled as his stomach began to make hungry noises.

"What can I do, I'll lend you money to eat," Hayato said as he walked ahead.

Raff immediately followed Hayato. "Lyn, I'll find you soon. Just wait," Raff muttered as he walked, looking up at the night sky of Rhymus City.

Hayato started to look at Raff, who was walking behind him, out of the corner of his eye. "My instincts as the main character are right. He's an important NPC who will be involved in the story of my journey, it's not for nothing that I risked myself to get involved in the big event earlier."

"Master, contact me quickly so I can explain everything to you," Hayato thought as he looked up at the sky.

That night, Raff and Hayato stayed at an inn in Rhymus City. Hayato lent Raff money to pay for his food and lodging. As they ate, Raff finally knew the reason why he was mistaken for a serial killer. It was because he walked alone at night.

Hayato explains that Rhymus City security asked the citizens not to walk alone at night. They were convinced that the serial killer acted alone at night. According to the investigation, the killer did not live in Rhymus City, but in a village outside the city's fortress.

That's why anyone wandering alone at night would be immediately suspected of being a serial killer, since all the townspeople had been told not to wander alone at night.

The next day, the two of them immediately went to the market to look for horse-drawn carriages that would leave for the capital city of Ruttera. There were so many carriages going there that it only cost three gold coins. Hayato deliberately chose a carriage that was already full of passengers so that he could leave immediately, as it would take up to nine days to get to the capital of Ruttera.

"Duke Lorbein's group of carriages is ready to leave," an adventurer on a horse shouted as he approached the carriages in the group.

At that moment, the carriage ridden by Hayato and Raff started to move. There were about thirty carriages in the group, carrying various kinds of goods, ranging from people going to the Ruttera capital, goods, pets, adventurers' equipment, crops from Rhymus City, and others.

There seemed to be dozens of adventurers following the group of wagons, no bandits would dare to approach, and the journey went faster without any major obstacles. Raff also got a lot of information about the current state of the Ruttera Kingdom from the other passengers.

Five days have passed on the journey. Tonight, the wagon train continued its journey through the dark wilderness, but the passengers and other adventurers seemed calm, knowing that their safety was assured. Raff and Hayato can be seen chatting with other passengers on their way to the capital.

Suddenly, a ball of fire shot into the sky from the front of the group. All of the horse-drawn carriages stopped instantly. The passengers looked surprised as they heard an adventurer shout loudly.

"A group of nightwolf monsters is approaching from the west of the forest! All adventurers, please stand by your positions, all passengers, please calm down and do not leave the group!" the adventurer shouted loudly.

"Why are the Nightwolf monsters attacking in groups?" an adventurer near Raff's wagon asked in amazement.

"Nightwolf, a C-rank monster. They shouldn't be the type of monsters that attack in large groups," said another adventurer.

"Even though it's only a C-rank monster, if it's a group like that, it will definitely be troublesome. Especially since they can also attack with the Fire element," said another adventurer.

"Nightwolves? Is it that dangerous these days?" Raff muttered quietly.

"Raff, we have to get to the forest. I sense a very dark mana glow from there," Hayato whispered.

"Huh? I don't feel anything," Raff replied.

"Anyway, we have to get to the forest. The adventurers definitely won't be able to handle it, the inhabitants here are in danger," Hayato explained.

"Why don't we leave it to the adventurers? Wouldn't it be suspicious if we were the ones facing it? We don't have an adventurer card either," Raff suggested.

"Tch. You idiot, why is his brain only used in situations like this?" Hayato's mind grumbled.

"He's so dangerous, I'm pretty sure those adventurers won't be able to do it," Hayato coaxed while pulling Raff's hand.

"Even if I don't feel anything," Raff said quietly as he stood up. "Show me where it is," Raff said quietly as he looked at Hayato.

"Sorry, we have to relieve ourselves," Hayato said as he got out of the carriage.

"Be careful boys, you better not go far," a passenger said. Raff and Hayato just nodded in understanding.

They both ran quickly towards the western forest, Hayato in front and Raff behind him. Still, Raff was confused because he couldn't feel what Hayato was saying. Suddenly, the sound of so many footprints came from the distance.

"It looks like we've crossed paths with the monster group," Raff said, alarmed.

"Let me take care of them Raff, the main character of this world has to show his skills at events like this," Hayato interrupted while drawing his sword.

From a distance, the figure of a dozen wolf monsters approached. Their figures looked very large and ferocious. The group of monsters was not only one, but there was also a group of night wolf monsters running towards the group of carriages.

Raff was astonished when he sensed that there were many monsters running eastward at another point, "They don't seem to have any intention of attacking, but fleeing. Did something frighten them from there?" he muttered quietly.

"We only need to defeat this group, leave the rest to the adventurers! Our target is the one in the forest," Hayato said as he continued to run. Then he slashed his sword at the group of monsters in the distance, "Icy slash!"
