Chapter 2: Besieged by Rhymus City Soldiers

Some buildings in the city seemed to have tall towers. There were also buildings that had more than one floor. Until now, such buildings had only existed in the capital of the Lotus Kingdom, where Xavier's Palace was located.

The night atmosphere in the city seemed quiet, not a single person was out of their homes. Raff turned his gaze to the area around the fort, which was surrounded by many large trees. Raff's sharp eyes saw the shadows of seven soldiers patrolling a small street, on both sides of the street there seemed to be only shady trees.

Raff's eyes fell on the insignia on the left breast of the soldiers' armor. "I don't even recognize the insignia on their armor," Raff muttered, scowling. "But they must know where I am."

Raff jumped between the trees, his two feet landing exactly five meters in front of the seven soldiers. The seven looked shocked and immediately drew their weapons on Raff.

One soldier with a sword immediately moved to the front row while looking at Raff. "Unbelievable. You're actually here."

Raff was surprised that the soldier in front of him seemed to recognize him. "Hehehe... It turns out I'm quite famous too, after I defeated Xavier," Raff said with a happy laugh.

"Of course you are! You serial killer!" snapped the soldier with the shield.

The look on Raff's face immediately changed when he heard the words of the soldier in front of him. "Huh? Serial killer?"

"Don't talk too much, quickly give the sign and hit him!" the tallest soldier shouted while pointing his spear at Raff.

Raff was even more shocked by the reaction of the seven adventurers in front of him. "What's wrong with them?"

The soldier holding the wand immediately pointed his wand in the air. At that moment, a fireball shot into the air and exploded like fireworks. Raff's eyes widened in shock, even more convinced that something was wrong with him.

"He can control his mana from this close to me?" muttered Raff as he watched the soldier use his magic. "Impossible, that makes no sense."

The soldier with the spear immediately jumped at Raff, swinging the spear in his hand to stab Raff in the neck. "Die!" he shouted.

The two soldiers with swords immediately jumped to Raff's right and left. "I'm from the side!" the two soldiers said at the same time.

Their swords were suddenly engulfed in fire. The soldier with the shield immediately stood in front of the soldier with the staff. The other warrior seemed to be clenching his fist, which was already engulfed in flames.

"I don't know why you're attacking me," Raff said as he clenched his fists. "But I don't want to die before I can marry Lyn!"

Raff deflected the spear attack aimed at his neck with just one finger. The two soldiers attacking from the side immediately charged at Raff, but they were surprised when the flames on their swords suddenly disappeared as they approached Raff.

The two soldiers looked puzzled. Moreover, both of their sword attacks were successfully dodged by Raff by simply twisting his body. The soldier who had clenched his fist immediately leapt into the air and swung the fireball in his hand at Raff's head, but the flames in his hand suddenly died as well.

"What happened?" muttered the soldier who had raised his fist.

Raff used his left hand to deflect the soldier's fist from above. "I should be the one to ask you that," Raff replied casually.

"Asshole!" shouted the spear-wielding soldier as he drove his spear into the ground.

This time, Raff used the fingers of his right hand to pinch the spear as it flew toward his neck, the sharp spearhead seemingly clamped tightly between Raff's index and middle fingers. The soldier tried to pull the spear out, but couldn't because Raff's fingers were so tightly clamped.

"Then die!" shouted the spear-bearing soldier.

The soldier with the spear began to mobilize his mana to create magic that enveloped the tip of his spear. The wind began to blow gently from the area of the soldier's spearhead, but nothing happened. Even the spear-wielding warrior was stunned that he couldn't use his magic.

"Burning lance!" the spear-wielder shouted as he tried to use another spell, but the magic faded before it could take shape.

Two warriors with swords tried to attack Raff, who was facing the spearman and the warrior using his bare hands. But Raff deftly dodged their attacks without moving from where he stood.

The bare-handed man tried to kick Raff in the head, but Raff ducked immediately and stomped the spear in his hand. At that moment, the soldier holding the spear was knocked to the ground.

The two sword-holding soldiers slashed at Raff's waist, but Raff quickly pulled out his enemy's spear and used it to deflect the two swords aimed at his body.

The sound of clashing weapons could be heard, accompanied by sparks from the friction of their weapons. Suddenly, from behind, a knife-wielding soldier shot at Raff, slashing the knife in his hand at Raff's ass.

But Raff smiled as he stomped his foot on the ground, his body catapulting upward, his left knee slamming into the soldier's bare hands. Meanwhile, Raff's right foot kicked the hand of the soldier pulling the knife until the knife was thrown.

The soldier holding the knife was seen grimacing in pain. "He noticed my existence?" he muttered.

Raff placed both feet on the soldier's shoulders. "One of the absolute rules for an assassin is to target the enemy who has the strongest and most troublesome attack, like a wizard. No more attacking fellow assassins!" he said with a smile.

"Stand down!" shouted the soldier holding the shield.

The air around Raff's battlefield was extremely hot. Flames in the shape of a dragon seemed to be rising above the warrior holding the staff. The five soldiers who had gathered around Raff immediately jumped back.

The soldier with the knife immediately swung his hand to grab Raff's leg. But Raff dodged by jumping, and that's when the assassin class soldier jumped back away from Raff.

Raff just smiled as he landed on the ground. He immediately grabbed three pebbles from the ground, his gaze fixed on the fire dragon magic coming at him. "Don't expect to hurt me with that kind of raw magic," Raff muttered as he threw two pebbles to the right and left. The remaining pebble fell to the ground.

A powerful explosion sounded as the fire dragon magic hit the spot where Raff was standing. Dust began to fly from the surface of the destroyed ground, and flames were also scattered in different directions. The five soldiers who stayed away seemed to smile happily as their friend's attack landed heavily.

"He won't be able to dodge your attack," said the soldier holding the shield.

"Yes. I even used half of my mana to use the fire dragon magic earlier, he would have been torn to pieces," the soldier with the wand replied.

"No problem, we're allowed to kill him," replied the soldier with the spear.

"Cough!" Raff could be heard coughing from behind a cloud of dust. He shook his hand several times to clear the dust from his nose. "The dust is so thick."

Suddenly, the seven soldiers there were surprised to hear that Raff was still alive. After the dust cleared, it was clear that Raff was standing, pinching his nose with the middle finger and thumb of his right hand.

The area where Raff stood seemed to have become a depression in the ground due to the effects of the fire dragon's magic earlier. The flames also seemed to still be scattered throughout the earthen basin. Raff's body was not injured in the slightest, not even a scorch mark on the clothes he was wearing.

The soldier holding the wand was wide-eyed in shock. He couldn't believe that Raff had survived his fire dragon magic. "Impossible, he could survive my attack earlier?"

"It seems that the Chief of Security's worst suspicion has now been proven. He's not on the level of D-class adventurers, but he's probably on the level of C-class adventurers," said the soldier holding the shield.

"Why are you attacking me? I just wanted to ask the name of this town," Raff asked in a nasal voice because he was still covering his nose.

"Hey, answer my question," Raff grumbled, because none of the soldiers answered him.

"I didn't expect you to still be able to fend off my attacks. No wonder so many D level adventurers and soldiers have died at your hands," the wand wielding soldier said as he raised his wand in the air.

"Do not deflect my question! Don't you know I'm a member of Neutron Party, huh?" grumbled Raff as he removed his hand from his nose.

"Oh. So that's the name of the criminal organization you belong to?" asked the soldier with the sword.

"A criminal organization?" muttered Raff with a shocked look on his face. "You don't know Neutron?" Raff couldn't believe that there were people in the world who didn't know the name Neutron. Even though the news of Demon King Xavier's death at Neutron's hands had spread to various places. Neutron's name should have been known throughout the world when they were still adventuring.

"Neutron, Newtron, or Proton, we don't care! The point is that your criminal organization will also be hunted down by the soldiers of Rhymus City!" said the spear-wielding soldier.

"Your brains are obviously out of whack," Raff said with a confused look on his face.

The wind began to blow hard and centered directly over the soldier holding the wand, suddenly dozens of fire arrows shot from Raff's right side in the distance. From the left and behind Raff also came various types of magic, attacking Raff at the same time.

From a distance, Raff could sense the movement of a large amount of mana. "What is this? Why are so many people suddenly approaching?"

"They seem to have arrived," said the soldier fighting with his bare hands.
