After all that we went through to get to this moment we finally were able to get in contact with another person. For a moment it felt as if we were never gonna find a signal or be able to get in contact with other people.
"Oh thank God! Finally someone responded!" - the guy said on the channel as I could tell by the sound of his voice that he felt relieved. "Where are you?!" - Jean asked. "I'm stuck on the 6th floor of the hotel. I'm in room 612 on the 6th floor. I've been up here since the outbreak began! I've been trying to get in contact with someone for the past 12 hours. You're the first person to reply!" - the guy on the channel said. All of us looked at each other as we were shocked because we didn't think there would be anyone that was still alive beyond the 5th floor. "Are you guys still there?! Hello?" - the guy asked as I could sense a little bit of panic in his voice. "Yes, we are still here." - Jean said. "Look I need help! I haven't eaten anything in the past two days and I'm beginning to feel light headed and dizzy. If I don't eat something soon I'm gonna faint. Please, I need help. I promise if you help me I could provide something to you in return!" - the guy on the channel said as he pleaded for help.
"What do you mean by that?" - I asked. "I have a car on the first floor of the garage here at the hotel. If you can bring me some food I promise I will give you the keys to my car! I just need something to eat or I'm gonna pass out!" - the guy said as he was beginning to panic more. All of us looked at each other as we saw that this could be our chance to get off the resort and perhaps get to the fire department Jack was talking about. "Guys this could be our chance to get out of the resort. This is the huge break we needed! We could get to the fire department that's a few blocks away from here and get a better signal." - I said in excitement. "But what if this guy is just saying that so he could take our food and do the same shit that Jack did?" - Ana said as she seemed a bit skeptical of the offer. "I don't think this is the same situation. This guy seems really desperate for food. I can tell by the tone in his voice. I think this guy is genuinely scared." - Jean said.
All of us looked at each other thinking about if we were gonna accept the offer or not. "Alright even tho I'm a bit skeptical on this if you guys think we should do it then I'm all in. I trust you guys." - Ana said. "Yeah I agree. We need to get off the resort and this is our best chance. The longer we are here the bigger of a risk we are at." - Halima said. Jean and I looked at each other before giving our response. "Alright me and my friend here are gonna bring you some food up to where you're at. We are on the first floor of the hotel so it shouldn't take long. Just hang tight. We will let you know when we are there." - Jean said. "Okay! Thank you so much! I promise I will give you the keys to the car when you get up here." - the guy on the channel said as I could hear the relief in his voice.
"Alright this is what we are gonna do. We can't blow this as this might be the last opportunity we get for a long time. You girls are gonna stay here and stay on the radio while Angel and I bring up some food to the guy. Maybe we can get some further information or potentially a contact that can help us on the outside." - Jean said as he was gearing up. "Alright be careful please. We don't need anyone taking more bites." - Ana said as she tossed me the walkie talkie. "Will do! When we leave make sure to barricade the door again. We will let you know on the channel when we are close so you can let us in. "Alright. Just stay safe guys and watch your backs." - Halima said. "Alright lets roll out." - Jean said as Ana and Halima removed the barricade and opened the door.
As Jean and I left the room, Ana and Halima barricaded the door again and we once again found ourselves roaming the halls of the desolated Waves Inn. "Alright so what's the fastest way to get to the 6th floor?" - Jean asked. "I don't know if there is a fast way. When Ana and I tried to escape the hotel the first time the stairs were blocked from the 3rd floor and below on this side of the hotel. If we want to get to the 6th floor without getting spotted we will have to get to the other side of the hotel and use the other set of stairs." - I said as we walked down the halls. "Alright copy that." - Jean said as we continued to walk.
As we arrived at the other side of the first floor we walked past the lounge once again but got a view of the front of the hotel during daytime. "Wow. The outside of the resort looks even shittier during the daytime." - Jean said as we walked by the broken doors once again. When we arrived at the stairs we stopped for a moment and looked at each other. "Alright we are here. Are you ready? I know last time you went down this road things went south." - Jean asked. "Yeah I'm ready. This is our best chance we've had since the outbreak began. I'm willing to risk it if that means getting the fuck off this resort." - I said as I reloaded my gun. "Alright man. Lets move." - Jean said as we began walking up the stairs.
As we began walking up the stairs it was very messy. There was a lot of trash on the floor and blood stains on the wall and steps. The stairs were a shell of its former self. As we continued to walk up the stairs we began passing by the floors quietly as we didn't want to attract any attention from any infected that may be wandering the hotel. As we arrived at the 6th floor the scene we saw was even worse than we imagined. "Holy shit this floor is rocked. It looks even worse than the 5th floor." - I said as we walked into the halls. "Yeah it looks like shit. I'm guessing the higher the floor the worse it was during the outbreak as it took longer to get out." - Jean said as we walked.
"The guy said he's in room 612." - Jean said as we looked at the room numbers. "Even numbers go down this hall on the left so we should turn here." - I said as I pointed towards that direction. As we turned down the hall we saw a group of infected surrounding a room. "Well I think we know which room he's in." - I said as I chuckled nervously. "Seems like we can never get a break from these bastards." - Jean said as he reloaded his gun. "Alright lets make this quick. The gun shots are gonna draw these fuckers near us so we gotta clear the area and then get inside." - I said as I held my gun. "Alright let's move in." - Jean said as we began walking towards the group of infected.
Once we got closer we began firing our guns as they began running towards us. My gun ended up jamming so I have to resort to using the baton to fight off the infected. "Shit my gun is jammed. I'm gonna get physical on this one!" - I said as I pulled out my baton. I began hitting the infected one by one as Jean continued to shoot at the infected running towards us. "Angel!! We have another group coming from behind us!" - Jean shouted as another group of infected came running towards us from the opposite direction. "Shit! We can't hold them off for longer!!!!" - I said as I was struggling to hold off the infected. "Hello?! We are outside of your room but there are too many infected out here! We can't hold them off for long!" - I said to the guy on the walkie talkie as we were outside of his room. "Alright! Hold on. I got something that can help!" - the guy replied as he opened the door and began pepper spraying the infected. "Get inside! Hurry hurry hurry!!!" - the guy said rapidly as he was standing near the door.
Jean and I quickly ran inside with the food as the infected started running towards us. The guy closed the door and barricaded it as they began banging on the door rapidly. A few moments later the banging stopped and silence followed. "Shit are you guys okay?" - the guy said as he was trying to catch his breath. "Yeah we should be fine. Nothing we haven't done." - Jean said as he wiped the sweat off of his hand. "We brought the food just like you asked sir." - I said as I gave the bag of food to the security guard. "Oh my goodness! Thank you guys so much. You didn't have to. I understand how dangerous it is out there. You really didn't have to." - the security guard said happily as he opened a can of fruit and began eating.
Jean and I sat down to catch our breath as we looked out of the window and could see a better view of the resort from higher up. "Damn I could see more stuff from up here. There are a shit ton of infected in the resort. Way more than I thought to be honest." - I said as I looked out the window. "Oh yeah I almost forgot. Here you guys go as I promised!" - the security guard said as he tossed his car keys to me. "Wow! Thank you sir. Honestly thank you. We've been struggling to find a way out of the resort and you just gave us the break we needed." - I said in relief as I caught the keys.
"Sir is there anything else you sure you don't need?" - Jean asked. "As of now food was the only thing I needed. I was beginning to feel dizzy and lightheaded. Maybe another hour and I probably would have passed out." - the security guard as he kept mowing down the food. "How long have you been up here?" - I asked. "I've been up here since the outbreak. I woke up to the sound of people screaming and running over each other. When I tried to get out of the room to take a look I couldn't because everyone was tripping over each other. There were too many infected around. It was basically a death wish trying to get out." - the security guard said.
"What about the rest of the security guards? They didn't bother to help at all?" - Jean asked. "Hell no. Those bastards left the first chance they got. Most of them either left the resort or became one of the infected. They were basically useless!" - the security guard said. Jean and I looked at each other as we knew how that felt. "Did you try getting in contact with anyone on the outside? - Jean asked. "Yeah I did. I tried contacting one of my friends who's a doctor and works in a local clinic just outside of downtown Banoi. I told him what was going on and he said he would send over a couple of his security guards over here to get me out. I ended up losing contact with them last night. The signal up here has been shitty. I've tried everything but I can't seem to restore the signal. You guys are the first people I've gotten in contact with since then." - the security guard said.
Jean and I looked at each other as we thought of a solution that might help everyone involved. "You said the signal went out for you last night?" - I asked. "Yeah it did. I've spent all night trying to restore it but had no luck. I've basically been a sitting duck since then." - the security guard said. "We might actually be able to help with that." - Jean said as the security guard looked up wondering what he meant. "There's a small fire department a few blocks outside of the resort that I sometimes worked at. They have access to all the channels in the city and have access to all the towers on the island. If we go there we could possibly get a better signal and get back in contact with your friend." - Jean said.
"Wait really? You guys could do that? "Yeah we can. That was our original plan but we couldn't go through with it because trying to get there on foot would be a death trap. With the car you have we could drive there and try to get in contact with your friend." - I said. "Wow, that's amazing. It really is. I appreciate that guys. You guys are a life saver." - the security guard said as he felt some relief.
A few moments later the security guard noticed a bandage on our arms from the bites we took. "Guys what is that on your arm?" - the security guard said as he began to back away. "No no no. This isn't what you think it is alright?! Let us explain please." - Jean said as the security guard began to get scared. "You guys are bitten! You could turn any second now!" - the security guard said as he stood away from us. "That bite was from 24 hours ago!" - I said as I was trying to calm tensions down. "What do you mean? How is that possible?" - the security guard said as he was in disbelief.
"I was bitten at the beginning of the outbreak. It's been 24 hours since I took that bite. Jean took his bite last night! We never turned!" - I said as I was trying to calm the security guard down. "You're not saying what I think you're saying right?" - the security guard asked. "Yes we are saying what your thinking. We are immune to this virus! There are two more like us downstairs in our room. We never turned!" - I said as the security guard began to calm down. "Oh shit, well thank god. I'm sorry that I got like this. It's just with people getting infected as soon as they are bitten I thought it would happen to you guys." - the security guard said as he sat down in relief.
Jean and I looked at each other and took a deep breath in relief as we calmed the situation down. "This friend of yours that's a doctor, do you think he could help us? One of our friends downstairs has a bed leg that she suffered when running from the infected. Do you think he could help us?" - Jean asked. "Yeah I think he can. He has a shit ton of supplies and stuff in his private clinic. If we can get in contact with him I can inform him of the situation and see what he can do." - the security guard said. "Yeah that would be nice but how the hell are we gonna get back to the first floor after narrowly getting away from the infected?" - I asked.
"It doesn't seem like they are around anymore. It seems quiet now. Move this barricade so I can take a quick look." - Jean said. As the security guard and I quickly moved the barricade from the door Jean opened it and took a look at both directions to see if we were in the clear. "I think we are clear for now. If we wanna move we gotta get going now. I don't know how long we have until they show up again." - Jean said. "Alright sir. We gotta get going. We gotta get back to our room downstairs with the rest and then we can start planning our way out of the resort." - I said as I reloaded my gun. "Alright, I will follow closely behind." - the security guard said as he pulled out his baton and pepper spray. "Alright sir. Let's get moving." - Jean said as the security guard and I followed closely behind.
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
As we began walking back to the first floor we heard a sudden growl coming from a distance. "Shhh. Did you guys hear that?" - Jean asked as he suddenly stopped. We remained still for a few moments as we were listening in on where the growl was coming. As the growl got closer we spotted a group of infected from across the hall. As we locked eyes on the infected the growl quickly became a scream and the horde began running after us. "Shit they saw us! Run and don't stop!!" - Jean yelled as we spotted the horde. We began running down the flight of stairs as a horde of infected followed closely behind. "Keep running! We are almost there!!" - I said as we quickly descended the flight of stairs.
As we arrived on the floor another group of infected rushed us from the left. "Shit there's more of them! Tell the girls to remove the barricade and be ready at the door!" - Jean said as he tried to hold off the infected. "Ana we are running down the hall but there's a large horde of infected chasing us! Remove the barricade and be at the door! We are coming in hot!" - I said on the walkie talkie as I kept running. Ana and Halima rushed to remove the barricade as we kept running down the hall with the horde of infected following behind.
As we got close to the room I could see Ana waiting at the door nervously as she spotted us from a distance with the infected running after us. As we arrived at the room all of us quickly ran inside as the group of infected was too big for us to fight on our own. We quickly shut the door and barricaded it with the infected banging on the door. "Shit...that was too close. I don't know if I can keep doing this." - I said as I was trying to catch my breath. As I looked around the room I saw the security guard sitting against the wall looking visibly scared while trying to catch his breath. "Thank you guys for getting me out of there." - the security guard said as he was trying to catch his breath.
"This is Ana and Halima. They are the other two people with us that are immune." - Jean said as he introduced the security guard to both of them. "Nice to meet you guys." - he said as he was catching his breath. "By the way I never introduced myself to you guys. My name is Dale, Dale Fletcher but you can call me Dale." - Dale said as he introduced himself to everyone in the group. Everyone nodded as we were still trying to settle down after escaping the horde of infected.
A few moments later after everyone settled down we began to devise and come up with a plan on how to get out of the resort. "Alright it's clear the hotel is a death trap. Every time we step a foot out of our room it's like the infected smell us and are ready to tear our asses up." - Jean said. "Yeah you're right man. The good thing is we have the car. Now we have to figure out how to get to where the car is." - I said.
"I can help you with that." - Dale said. "Where did you park the car?" - Ana asked. "My car is parked in the staff parking lot. It's in the front of the resort. There is a parking lot outside near the main entrance of the hotel that is designated for staff members only. It's a white SUV. I can get you to the car but there is one issue." - Dale said. "What's the issue?" - Jean asked. "That area is flooded with a large horde of infected. If we want a chance at getting the car and getting out of here then we need to find a way to lure the infected somewhere else. There are too many of them for us to fight off by ourselves. We won't be able to." - Dale said.
Jean and I looked at the rest of the group as we were trying to come up with a solution. "I think I might know a way to lure them. I will admit it's a bit risky and might be a gamble but if you guys can get the car started quickly it might pay off." - I said as I chuckled a bit. "What are you thinking?" - Ana said as she smiled. "This is what we will do. Once we leave the hotel I will go to the parking lot across from where Dale's car is parked. Once I get there I will bang on the hood of one of the cars to set its alarm off. From what we know the infected are attracted to sound so once they hear the alarm go off they will swarm in. Once I do that you guys gotta run as fast as you can to his car and get it started. Once that alarm goes off all of the infected are gonna come swarming in. It's a small window we have but it's worth a shot." - I said as I explained the plan to the group.
Everyone looked at each other as if they were thinking about if the plan was a good one. "I like the plan. I think it's worth a shot." - Jean said. "Yeah I do too. We need to get out of this resort and this seems like our best shot." - Halima replied. Ana looked at me as she was still thinking. "Yeah we should do it. As much as I hate risking our lives like this we should still do it. We need to get out of here and the longer we stay the more at risk we are." - Ana said. "Yeah what she said." - Dale said. "Alright I think we got ourselves a plan." - I said.
All of us began to gear up as we were about to pull off the riskiest thing we have done so far. One might argue that this is riskier than throwing myself off the edge of a tall flight of stairs to escape the group of infected back at the beach but that may be up for debate. "Alright guys, are you all ready? Remember once we leave there is no coming back so I want you all to be sure that you're down for this." - I said. "Yeah we are down. We waited too long for this chance to slip away. We either do this or we are as good as dead." - Ana said. I looked at Ana and nodded as I opened the door. "Alright then. Lets move out." - I said as I was the first to exit the room.
As we began walking to the lounge which was where the main entrance was, we tried our best to stay as quiet as we could as to not attract any further attention to ourselves. As we arrived at the lounge we took a peek through the entrance to see if there were any infected nearby. "Alright I don't see any infected so far. I want you guys to wait here while I trigger the car alarm. Once I give the signal you guys need to run your asses off to the car and get it started. I will meet up with you guys once I lure all of them to the car." - I said quietly. "Okay but please be careful and if it gets too bad you run back to us no matter what." - Ana said as she looked at me with a concerning look. "Alright. Here goes nothing." - I said as I was about to walk out of the main entrance.
I began to walk out of the entrance and slowly walked across the roundabout without getting spotted by any of the infected. As I looked around the shiny sun was beaming on my face as the weather was hot. There were a few infected lingering outside as far as I could tell but it seemed as if most of them were hiding or watching. As I arrived at the parking lot I was looking for a car that hadn't been turned on as many of the cars were either broken into or crashed into others.
After searching for a few moments I finally found a car that looked to be untouched. I took a deep breath as I was about to pull off the riskiest thing I've done up until this point. After taking a deep breath I began banging on the hood of the car and quickly enough the car alarm sounded. "Go go go!" - I said on the walkie talkie as I kept banging on the hood of the car. The rest of the group quickly ran across to the other side of the roundabout as the infected began running towards the sound. I'm right here you mother fuckers!!!!" - I said as I screamed it out loud to attract the infected while banging on the car door.
As more infected came swarming from all different areas I quickly ran to another nearby car that was untouched to make its alarm sound as well. After making a second car alarm sound more infected came swarming from everywhere. There were even hordes of infected coming outside of the hotel. "Please tell me you guys are in the car already!!" - I said on the walkie talkie as more infected were swarming the area. "We just found the car. We are getting it started!!! Try to hold out for just a little longer!" - Jean said as they were trying to get the car started.
I started to think of a way to hold off the infected as I quickly began to feel overwhelmed by the amount of infected running towards the cars. I started running around the parking lot screaming to get the infected to chase after me to buy a little more time for the car to get started. "I'm right here you fuckers!!! Come and get some!!!" - I yelled as I was running with a horde of infected chasing after me.
A few moments later they were able to get the car started and quickly exited the parking lot. "Angel!!!! Over here!!!!" - Ana said as she was screaming from the back seat of the car. I began running towards the car as a massive horde of infected were chasing me. I felt every muscle in my legs stretch as I was running like it was the last moment of my life. As I approached the car I quickly opened the door and jumped in the car as the horde of infected quickly approached us. "Step on it!!! Go go go!" - I shouted as I shut the door. Jean stepped on the gas pedal as we narrowly dodged the horde of infected.
As we left the hotel grounds the horde ran after the car but they were no match for the speed we were going at. "Oh shit. I don't know how I pulled that off." - I said as I was trying to catch my breath. "You did good man. You did good. That was a gutsy move back there but you did good man." - Dale said as he looked back. "Is everyone okay?" - I asked. They all nodded as they all looked visibly terrified after what just happened. A few moments later we were able to exit resort grounds and at last we finally escaped the resort.
"How far are we from this fire department you're talking about?" - Dale asked. "Not too far. It's only a few blocks away from the resort but it's far enough to where the infected won't get to us. We should be safe from the infected back at the resort." - Jean said as he was driving. As we drove around I could see the beautiful palm trees with the shiny sun casting over us. It was indeed hell in paradise. "We finally got out of the hotel. I had no idea there were that many infected at the resort. When the cars sounded off there were a shit ton of them that came from everywhere." - Halima said. "Yeah I was shocked myself. It just comes to show that if the resort was that bad then I could only imagine what the rest of the island looks like." - Ana said.
As we kept driving we arrived at the fire department that Jean mentioned we quickly had another issue arise. "Shit man! There's more infected here too. What the hell are we gonna do?" - Dale said. "Relax man. It's not nearly as much as there was back at the resort. It's nothing that we can't handle. We just have to take out the trash before we can enter." - Jean said as he parked the car. As we exited the car we could see a few infected standing in the main entrance of the department.
"Alright this is what we will do. Angel and Ana will sweep out the first floor while Halima and Dale will come with me and sweep out the second floor. The communications room is on the second floor so it's best that I go up there so I can get the systems up and running and try to establish a signal." - Jean said. "Alright copy that. I need everyone to stay close and make sure you don't leave any corner unchecked. We don't need another hotel situation." - I said as I geared up.
We proceeded to enter the fire department and began to fight off the infected that presided in the department. As the rest of the group quickly ran to the second floor, Ana and I began fighting off the infected that occupied the first floor. As I entered the lounge on the first floor I began shooting any infected in sight. After clearing the lounge we proceeded to the small cafeteria as there were quite a few infected in there as well. As we were cleaning out the first floor the rest of the group was upstairs fighting off the infected as they attempted to get into the communications room to get up.
As they arrived at the communications room Jean quickly rushed to where the equipment was at as he was trying to get set up. "Watch my back while I try to get everything set up!" - Jean said as he began unpacking the radio and began working on the equipment. Meanwhile downstairs Ana and I ran into some trouble as some infected nearby began to enter the building. "Shit we have some unwanted ones coming in from the outside!" - I said as I was fighting off the infected in the cafeteria. "We gotta get the door closed and barricaded so no more can enter!!" - I said as I took down a few infected.
As we were able to clear the rest of the first floor we had to set our attention on the infected that were entering from outside. I began shooting at the infected when my gun ran out of bullets. "Shit I'm out of ammo!" - I said as I pulled out my baton. I began fighting off the infected as Ana was gathering stuff for the barricade. After fighting off the infected at the entrance of the building I rushed inside to help Ana barricade the door just in case any more were to come in. A few minutes later we were able to get the door barricaded and clear the first floor.
As Ana and I rushed upstairs to the second floor we assisted Halima and Dale on clearing the second floor. "I need a little help here!" - Halima said as a few more infected began to rush her. Once I arrived I began knocking down the infected as Ana fought right beside me. A few moments later we were able to successfully clear the second floor. "Shit that was close. Just when I thought I didn't need to fight anymore these fuckers show up again." - I said as I was catching my breath. "I'm gonna scan the building again to make sure that we got all of them." - Ana said as she walked downstairs. "I will go with you as well." - Halima said as she followed behind.
A few moments later Ana and Halima were able to confirm that the building was clear and that we were safe. "The building is clear! We are good for now." - Ana said as she entered the communications room with Halima. "Well that's good to hear. We don't have to deal with those bastards for now at least." - I said as I was watching Jean establish a signal with the radio provided at the desk.
"Any luck in finding a signal?" - I asked as I watched hoping for a good answer. "Just a few more tweaks and then I think we got it." - Jean said as he was tweaking with the settings. "Boom! I got a signal! The channels are back up and live!" - Jean said in excitement. "Oh thank you Lord!" - I said as the rest of us gasped in relief. "Okay, now that we got the signal back up I want you to go to channel 6. That's the channel I was using when I lost contact with the doctor." - Dale said. As Jean switched to channel 6 he handed Dale the mic as we were hoping for a response.
"Dr. Van! Dr. Van!! Are you there?! It's Dale!!" - Dale said as he was praying for a response. After a few moments of silence a voice came onto the channel. "Dale?! Is that you?! What the hell happened? I haven't heard from you since last night! Is everything okay?" - Dr Van said. "Yeah everything is fine! The signal went down at the hotel last night and I wasn't able to reach you but thanks to the help of these good people I'm with I was able to make it out of the hotel and get to a nearby fire station to establish the signal again!" - Dale said as he was visibly happy. "Wait you got other people with you?" - Dr Van asked. "Yeah I'm with four other survivors." - Dale said.
As we heard the sound of the doctor on the channel the rest of us felt a sigh of relief as all that work wasn't for nothing. After surviving countless near death experiences back at the resort we were so thrilled to finally get in contact with someone on the outside. After all that hard work we finally found a signal.
