What at first was supposed to be a retrieval mission may have turned into a rescue mission. With the other surviving guy that took the radio alive we were led into a trap and now things are starting to look unclear. We didn't want Jean to think we just ran off. Something needed to happen.
A few hours later I awoke with a huge headache and sitting right behind me was Ana as she was handcuffed to the closet door. I tried to move my hands but I was handcuffed to the bathroom door. "You're finally awake. You were out for a while." - Ana said from across the room. "What happened? Why are we handcuffed to the doors?" - I asked as I attempted to pull the door. "You should stop trying to escape and relax. You're gonna be here for a while." - the guy said as he was sitting on the bed with his gun in his hand. "You've been out for a few hours. Didn't wanna risk alerting the nearby zombies so you needed to go night night for a bit." - he said menacingly.
"What the hell is all of this? Why do you have us cuffed to the doors?" - I asked as I was annoyed. "I figured since you're here we all might as well talk. You guys have done all of this hero bull shit but haven't sat down and actually had a conversation, risking your lives for some dude that you just met. It's pretty pathetic if you ask me." - The guy said as he scoffed. "That medic is the reason we are alive, the reason we are still breathing and the reason your spitting horse shit out of your mouth!" - I said. "You think hes the reason I'm alive? You couldn't be any more wrong. You see here's the thing. If it wasn't for me and the other guy your poor medic would be dead just like everyone else!" - he said with a smart remark.
"What the hell are you talking about?" - I asked. "Jean needed help. Truth is he was trapped in his office here in the hotel. He was surrounded by a large horde of infected. He had no way to escape. Me and the other guy were planning to run out of the hotel when we heard his cry for help. I'm gonna be honest here, I wasn't planning on helping his ass but the other guy insisted. Jean even went as far as promising us that he would help us escape the resort and get help from the outside. He even tempted us by saying that he had the radio which he could use to contact people on the outside! The other guy insisted that we help him in hopes that we would find our way out of here so we did just that. We nearly sacrificed ourselves for some guy that we didn't know because he promised us a way out." - he said as he was walking around the room with the gun in his hand.
"Once we rescued him he told us he had a small safe house on the beach that he could get us to so he could set up his equipment and attempt to contact people on the outside. Little did we know that was a boat load of crap." - the guy said. He gave you a safe house to lay low at and you're whining like a little bitch?" - Ana said. "That's tough talk for a girl that needed to be saved herself. See here is the thing, if it wasn't for me and that other guy you both and Jean would be dead as a door nail right now. When Jean finished setting up his equipment a few moments later he got the call from someone in the hotel saying that you guys needed help. He promised he would contact people on the outside and get us help but no! He was too focused on trying to be the hero and save as many lives as he could!" - he said angrily as he was pacing around the room pointing the gun at Ana and I.
"After he saved you guys he once again wanted to save another person by sending you guys out and rescuing that other girl! He wanted to be the hero but what did we get? Nothing! Absolutely nothing! We rescued his ass on a promise he made that turned out to be a boat load of shit! I wasn't just gonna sit around and wait for him to finally do something. Did he really expect that I was just gonna sit around on my ass while we wait for someone to magically come to our rescue?! Nah, I wasn't willing to do that and I wasn't gonna keep risking shit to save more people so I took the radio and decided to take shit into my own hands." - the guy said.
"So what happened with the other guy then? Did you kill him too because he wasn't down with your plan?!" - Ana asked. "Huh, what the hell are you talking about?!" - the guy asked as he had a confused look on his face. "He turned into an infected. We had an encounter with him back near the pools when we were on our way here. He looked different though. He was bulkier and much more stronger. He wasn't just a typical infected. The guy looked at me as he heard the news and started to laugh. "What the fuck is so funny? You killed him didn't you?" - I asked.
"You wanna know what happened? Alright, fine. I will tell you what happened. After me and him left with the radio things were going smoothly as we talked about what where we were gonna flee to. As soon as we arrived near the pools and cabin area we spotted our first infected. As soon as the guy saw that he pussied out. He started having second thoughts about if we should have left by ourselves like that. He insisted that we go back with the radio and wait until Jean got into contact with people on the onside. I wasn't gonna have that. I didn't walk my ass all the way up here just for him to change his mind. I told him he could go back by himself if he wanted to but I wasn't gonna let him take the radio with him. Then he tried to take the radio away from me. We got into a brawl because of the radio and his loud ass mouth ended up alerting the infected nearby. I wasn't about to die because his stupid ass didn't want to be out here." - the guy said as he walked around the room.
"So what happened after that? You just left him to die?!" - Ana said as she was visibly frustrated. "That's exactly what happened. I took off with the radio but I ended up dropping the walkie talkies. That bastard tried to recover the walkie talkies but then a large horde of infected got a hold of him. They feasted on him like he was dessert. Part of me actually felt bad for the guy but I knew it was either me or him and I wasn't about to put my life on the line again. A few moments later the group of infected laid eyes on me so I began to run towards the hotel. Once I got there I closed the door behind me but once I got inside there was an infected down the hall that spotted me. It started chasing me so I ran down the hall until I saw an open door which happened to be this room. I came in here and locked myself in here." - the guy said.
"There was only one bad part of your plan. You forgot the walkie talkies dumbass." - Ana said with a smirk on her face. "But you see, that's where you guys came in handy for me. While you guys were out I noticed you guys had walkie talkies on you already so I took the liberty of taking them off of you. You didn't think I was gonna keep you in here and not search you huh?' - the guy said as he had a smirk on his face. "You think you won but Jean and Halima probably have already noticed that something is wrong, and when they come looking for us they are gonna follow the exact trail we followed and when they find us your gonna be fucked." - I said as I gave a cold look to the guys face. "Yeah, we will see about that because when I'm done with you all he's gonna find is two dead bodies in this room with no radio in sight so stay wishing. You don't have much time left." - the guy said as she nudged my head with his gun.
Meanwhile back at the safe house Jean was beginning to worry as hadn't heard from us for a few hours now. "Shit..its been a few hours since they left. The sun is starting to set already. I'm really worried that something might have happened." - Jean said as he was pacing back and forth in the room. "I'm sure they're fine. Maybe the guys went far off the island and they had to go farther than anticipated." - Halima said as she tried to calm Jean down. "They couldn't have gone that far. I doubt the guys got far. If the resort is as bad as it is right now then I could only imagine how bad things are once you leave the resort. There's no way the guys left the resort. I think something might have happened." - Jean said as he kept checking the time.
"Well I'm sure they could handle themselves. They are two very strong people. It's getting late outside and if something happened I'm sure they found a hiding spot." - Halima said. Jean continued to pace around the room until he came to a conclusion. "Nah, I don't think that's it. I'm gonna go out there and try to look for them." - Jean said as he was gearing up. "You're really gonna go out there when sunset is nearly over? It's gonna be dark as hell outside and then you won't be able to see anything. It will be too dangerous! - Halima said. "Well the longer we wait the more danger they will be in. I'm the one that sent them out there to find the radio. I can't live in good conscience knowing that something happened to them because I sent them. I'm going out there.
As Jean finished gearing up he grabbed the broom stick and snapped it in half to create two sharp points. "Alright fine. If you're going then I'm going along with you." - Halima said as she put her shoes on. "I don't think you should be going out there based on the condition of your leg. Plus with nobody watching the safe house it will be at risk of being taken over." - Jean said. "They saved my life. If it wasn't for them I'd be out there among the infected. I owe it to them so I'm going." - she said as she finished gearing up. "Well alright then. Let's go then." - Jean said as he turned on his flashlight before walking out.
Jean and Halima continued to walk along the beach until they reached the stairs when they suddenly spotted the bodies of the infected that I led off the top of the stairs. "Holy shit...he wasn't kidding when he said he jumped off. What a crazy fucker." - Jean said as he chuckled a bit. "He's such a crazy ass." - Halima said as she mumbled to herself. They arrived on top of the stairs and began to walk through a dark and quiet path as they passed the pools. "The resort looks even scarier at night with all that's going on. It just gives the vibe that we are being watched." - Halima said as she followed closely behind. "Yeah you're right about that. - Jean said quietly.
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
"It's crazy because before the outbreak happened this area was full of parties around this time. It was arguably the loudest place in the resort besides the bar. The resort used to get the cops called here because of how loud people were. Hell even fights happened out here but that was mainly due to people not being able to hold their alcohol. It's sad to see how this place is now. I can only imagine what it's like in the rest of the island." - Jean said. "Yeah...I came here to get an escape from all the problems back in the US but with this apocalypse it just seems like some of those problems found me here." - Halima said.
"What do you mean by that?" - Jean asked. "Well back at home I was dealing with stress from work. Also I don't really talk to my family anymore as they are really judgmental of the things I do. When it came to jobs, passions or anything they would always have a say about the things I do and that I can't do this or that. They didn't support me at all. Despite all of that I've always wanted to come here to escape from all of that. At one point I even considered moving here to get away from them but I guess I can throw those plans out of the window now." - Halima said. "Well despite all of this I still give you credit for pulling through...and also surviving on your own through all of that before we helped you." - Jean said.
Halima cracked a small smile and continued to follow Jean. "Jean, stop for a second." - Halima said as Jean looked back wondering what the stop was for. "Do you see that trail of blood on the floor?" - Halima said as she pointed towards the floor. Jean pointed the flashlight towards the floor as he spotted the trail. "Yeah, I see it. The blood trail continues that way. Maybe it will lead us to where Angel and Ana are at. Good eye Halima." - Jean said as he gave her a fist bump.
As Jean and Halima followed the trail it led them to the same door that we entered to get inside the hotel. "Well shit. It looks like the trail continues inside the hotel. I didn't think I'd be back here." - Jean said as he let out a sigh. "Yeah me neither but if that's what it takes to find them then I'm all for it." - Halima said as she looked at Jean giving a sign of encouragement. "I would think with what happened you'd be scared to come back here." - Jean said. "At this point what choice do I have? As long as we have each other I think we stand the chance." - Halima said. "Alright then. Lets go." - Jean said as he opened the door with Halima following closely behind.
Jean and Halima continued to walk down the same dark hallway that Ana and I walked down. "It's dark as hell in here. If it wasn't for the flashlight I wouldn't even be able to see myself." - Halima said. "Yeah your not kidding." - Jean said. "Looks like the trail continues this way." - Halima said as she pointed towards the left side of the end of the hallway. "Shhh. Stop. I heard something." - Jean said as she placed his arm in front of Halima. Jean looked around as he was wondering where the sound was coming from but all signs pointed to the gym. "I heard a growl coming from inside the gym. We need to be careful around here." - Jean whispered. Jean proceeded to look in both directions before continuing to follow the trail. "Come on, this way." - Jean whispered as he took a left down the hallway into the rooms area.
As Jean and Halima followed the trail they hit a roadblock as the other side of the hallway where the trail ends is surrounded by a group of infected. "Shit! There's a group of them outside of the room. That must be where they are at but how the hell are we gonna get around that?!" - Halima said. Jean continued to look around desperately trying to think of a way to get through or around the group of infected. As he looked around he spotted a sign that pointed towards the security office. "I got an idea. Follow me." - Jean said quietly as he followed the sign with Halima walking closely behind. "Where are we going now?" - Halima asked quietly.
"The security office is on the other side of this floor. If we can get there then we might be able to get rid of the group of infected." - Jean said. "What does the security office have to do with getting rid of them?" - Halima asked. "Before the outbreak the security guards that worked here carried licensed firearms with them. With some luck we might be able to find some weapons in there that we can use to fight off the group of infected." - Jean said. "You want to fight all of them? There's a shit ton of them!" - Halima said quietly. "Well that's all we have right now. I can't use the sound tactic because it's already late and it's too quiet in here. Any sudden sound will alert the entire floor and then we are toast. Ana sighed as she knew that was the only solution.
"Alright, the office is right there across the hall. Stay close and call out anything that seems weird." - Jean said as he looked at Halima. "Copy that." - Ana said. Jean proceeded to open the door quietly so as to not make any sudden sound. They then went into what seemed to be a really dark room as the lights must have gone out in the security office. "It's really dark in here. I can barely see anything." - Halima said. "Alright, look around and grab any weapon you could find. It doesn't matter. We could use anything we find." - Jean said. They began looking around until Jean found something that changed the situation. "Oh shit I found something!" - Jean said excitedly but still quietly. Halima walked over to Jean with him holding a gun in his hand. "I found a gun. This makes it so much easier to fight off the infected." - Jean said as he checked for bullets in it. Jean began searching the body he found the gun and was able to get ammo for the gun as well.
"Here, I found something for you too." - Jean said as he tosses a taser to Halima. "What the hell is a taser gonna do against them?!" - Halima said. "I don't know. Maybe shock them?" - Jean said as he was loading up. Halima expressed a sarcastic face and continued to look around. "I found a police baton." - Halima said as she lifted it in the air to show Jean. "That's great. We can use that." - Jean said. After searching most of the security office they couldn't find many other resources. "Alright, I can't find anything else. I think we got everything we need for now. Are you ready to go back out there?" - Jean asked. "Yeah, lets get going." - Halima said.
Meanwhile in the room Ana and I were still cuffed to the doors as the guy was sitting on the bed trying to get a signal on the radio. "Can anyone copy? Is anyone there?" - the guy said on the radio but got no response. "Shit! The signal is even worse here." - the guy said. "Hah! Looks like you did all of that shit for nothing. Look at who's the idiot now." - Ana said as she laughed at the guy. "You really think I came up here without a backup plan? Looks like you aren't as smart as you thought you were." - the guy said as he pulled out an ID that looked similar to Jean's.
"Before the outbreak I was a volunteer for the fire department that works in conjunction with the resort. When shit hit the fan I tried to contact the office I worked in but had no luck." - the guy said. "You worked for the fire department? If that's the truth then why the hell are you doing the shit your doing right now?" - I asked. "You still don't get it do you? This isn't the same old world we lived in yesterday. A fucking apocalypse broke out. You really think people are out there trying to save others? If you really thought that then your just as dumb as Jean. The moment the outbreak started all morals were thrown out of the window. It was every man for himself. People aren't trying to be modeled citizens anymore. Right now I can guarantee everyone that's still alive is fighting for themselves. That includes your precious doctors and shit like that. Jean is the only one that's still putting others before himself and it's that same act that's gonna get him killed." - the guy said as he pointed the gun towards us.
"You're really a piece of shit you know that? You're so lucky these cuffs are on me right now. - I said. A few moments later gun shots started firing outside of the room. "Shit, there's people here. You guys better not say a fucking word or I will blow your heads off." - the guy said as he ran to the door. Ana looked at me with that look as if she had a plan. She then began to say words with her lips. I couldn't make much out of it but she then pointed her head towards the door. A few moments later the gun shots stopped. A few moments later the door was busted down and I broke out the cuffs and lunged at the guy. He tried firing the gun at me but just before he got the shot off I slapped the gun out of his hand with the firing bullet going through the roof. Halima rushed into the room and broke the cuffs off of Ana.
Me and the guy got into a fierce brawl until Jean rushed in and grabbed the guy from behind and threw him against the wall. "Shit! A bigger group of infected are rushing towards us!" - Jean shouted as he saw them coming. "Quick! Help me get this fucker out of the room!" - I said as I began to lift him up. Jean helped me lift the guy up and we proceeded to throw him into the hallway as the group of infected got close to the door. "Shut the door!!" - Ana said as she shouted. Jean and I quickly shut the door and locked it as the group of infected quickly approached the room.
After we closed the door all we could hear were the cries and screams coming from the guy as the group of infected feasted on him. "Grab anything you can find and barricade this door!" - I said as I didn't want the door to be broken down. All of us quickly grabbed the dresser in the room and moved it towards the door with other various objects on top of it to give it more weight to make sure the barricade was steady. A few moments later the cries and screaming stopped and then everything went to silence. I looked around the room and saw the looks on everyone's faces. We were all exhausted and breathing hard as we escaped another near death situation.
An attempt at retrieval quickly turned into a rescue mission and now after all the circumstances we now found ourselves back at the one place we were desperately trying to escape from. We needed to think of a solution to get out of this but for now we were just glad we narrowly escaped disaster. We once again found ourselves needing rescue.
