It is the summer of 2032 and people are now going crazy on planning trips and deciding where to go for family vacations and all that sort of stuff but I'd rather keep it simple. In fact I've already had all my stuff planned ahead of time. The one place that I've dreamed of going to since I was a kid. You might be asking yourself where is that? Well I'm glad you asked. By the way my name is Angel Rogers and It is the best place in the world. It is the beautiful island of Banoi. It is a beautiful island located about 150 miles off the coast of southern Florida. You might be asking why is Banoi so special? Well it is special because it is home to the world class famous Waves Inn. A beautiful resort that has just about everything you can ask for. It has an arcade, spa, pool, hot tub, awesome parties and a bar of course because what's a resort without a bar? Anyways now that I described all of that to you it's time to prepare and head out!
A few hours have passed and with all my stuff packed I got into my car and began driving towards the airport to catch my flight. As I'm driving I have the radio on as well tuned into the news channel because I've always found it interesting to listen to world news because it keeps me occupied when stuck in traffic which is exactly what I'm encountering as of now. As I'm sitting stuck in traffic the news on the radio is talking about how COVID-19 wreaked havoc on the world 12 years ago and how there are growing fears of potentially another pandemic. Science has taken a step back as of late and is currently undergoing a state of purgatory. Scientists have not been able to make vaccines for everyone in territories off the coast of the US. "There is an on going crisis with the shortage of vaccines. This crisis is something that many are neglecting and public officials have yet to mention. This is a serious issue and if we don't figure something out we could be at risk of another pandemic that could be worse than we've ever imagined"- The audio from the radio said. Seems pretty interesting but knowing how we were able to overcome the crisis 12 years ago I think we will be okay.
After navigating traffic and arriving at the airport after the terrible traffic I was able to check into my flight and get on board to put my things away. As I sit down in my seat I start to imagine and think about all the things I'm gonna do once I land in Banoi and book into the resort. It's something that would constantly appear in my dreams and I can't believe that it's finally happening. As I lay back I begin to drift away into my thoughts and fall asleep. An hour later I wake up to the sound of the pilot on the intercom stating that we are about to land in Banoi. After the flight landed I grabbed my bags and began walking through the airport and I start to see so many other people that appear dressed in vacation clothes but another thing I noticed that kinda seemed strange was the amount of people trying to leave Banoi. I thought it was strange considering the island was one of the most sought out destinations in the world but I continued to walk until I exited the airport to the beautiful sight of palm trees with a shiny sun casting over a beautiful view of downtown Banoi with the ocean in the distance. The air felt like something out of this world. I got into my taxi and was dropped off at the Waves Inn. As I got out of the taxi all I could see was the view of the ocean behind a beautiful resort full of all sorts of activities. I always thought it looked great in pictures but it looked even better in person. I began walking inside to the check in counter and I ended up bumping into another person due to being distracted. "Oh crap I'm so sorry. I wasn't paying attention. Are you okay mam?" I said. I quickly began helping her grab all of her belongings to give to her. "No no it's fine. I wasn't paying attention either." - The girl said. Before I could get a moment to introduce myself she quickly grabbed her stuff and walked away. I couldn't even get a proper look at her face due to my head being all over the place. Despite that incident I was able to check into my room and went on with my way.
I checked into my room which was on the 7th floor and the first thing in my view was the beautiful ocean with the city skyline of Banoi in the distance. It was a view like no other. I quickly began to unpack my stuff and then I went to get showered so I could plan for my day. A few hours later I was all dressed up and went down to the bar to have a few drinks and unwind in the bar area. I also heard there was gonna be a concert in the bar as well so I was super excited for that. As soon as I arrived at the bar area I asked for a nice cold margarita and grabbed a seat and began to enjoy the music. A few hours passed by and I'm a few drinks deep as I'm socializing with other people when I see a sudden sight that caught the attention of others around me. A waitress begins running into the bar with blood running down her neck when another bloodied woman behind her jumps right onto her and starts attacking the waiter viciously. Other people attempt to aid the woman and get the attacker off when the attacker takes her focus off the bloodied waitress and begins attacking other people. A few moments later more bloodied people start running appearing to attack others in the bar as well. Chaos begins to ensue as people are attempting to get out of the bar. I dropped my drink and began running around the piles of people trying to escape as well. As I'm running all I see is the sight of people getting attacked and bloodied bodies everywhere. I managed to escape the bar area and make my way back to the hotel where everything seems really quiet and peaceful. I thought it was weird how the bar turned into chaos but everything back at the hotel seemed normal. At that moment I just thought to myself that it was maybe just a bar fight gone wrong. I made my way up to my hotel room and crashed on the bed. All that running and alcohol wasn't super friendly on my body. I drifted off into sleep and ended the night.
"ATTENTION ALL RESIDENTS. A MANDATORY EVACUATION HAS BEEN ORDERED FOR THE ENTIRE RESORT. THIS IS NOT A DRILL. THIS IS AN ONGOING EMERGENCY. THERE HAS BEEN A BREAKOUT IN VIOLENCE THROUGHOUT THE RESORT. ALL RESIDENTS ARE ADVISED TO EVACUATE. THIS IS NOT AN EMERGENCY. PLEASE EXIT THROUGH THE STAIRS AS ALL ELEVATORS ARE OFFLINE. THIS IS NOT A DRILL." - The Hotel Intercom.
That was the first thing I woke up to. I was wondering what the hell was going on. I woke up with a massive headache but the sound of that voice intercom was enough to get me up. I tried to turn the TV on but all I got was a TV screen with the Emergency Alert System logo on all channels broadcasting a similar message. The TV message went on as followed: "THIS IS NOT A TEST. THIS IS A AREA WIDE EMERGENCY. THE GOVERNMENT OF BANOI HAS ORDERED A ISLAND WIDE EVACUATION FOR THE ENTIRE OF BANOI. THIS IS NOT A TEST. A WAVE OF VIOLENCE HAS ENSUED ACROSS THE ISLAND AND PRESENTS A DANGER FOR ALL CITIZENS. THERE HAVE BEEN REPORTS OF CITIZENS ATTACKING OTHERS VICIOUSLY CAUSING THE VICTIM TO GO INTO A STATE OF VIOLENCE AND RAGE. THIS IS AN ONGOING EMERGENCY. ALL CITIZENS HAVE BEEN ORDERED TO EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY. THIS IS NOT A TEST." - The voice on the TV message. I quickly got dressed but before exiting my room I grabbed a broom and broke off the brush part to use as a stick.

As I exited the room I looked down the hall in both directions and noticed a huge mess in the halls. There were suitcases all over the floor and there were doors of the nearby rooms open as well. I began walking slowly down the hall when I heard a sudden growl coming from a nearby room down the hall. I began walking slowly towards the sound and as I entered the room I looked down at a horrible sight. I saw a bloodied person biting on the neck of a dead resident. I looked down in horror and shock but right as I looked the infected looked back at me and began growling. It then got up and began lunging at me. I tried to dodge the attack but it had me against the bed with nothing but the stick protecting me from being bitten. I kicked the person's leg and got up. I then started to hit the zombie with the stick over and over before getting it down. I tried to run but the infected got a hold on my leg causing me to trip. I kicked its face and then ran out of the room closing the door behind me. I stood there in shock and horror as this trip began to go sideways. A few moments later I heard another scream only this time it came from what sounded like a girl screaming. I ran jogged towards the sound to avoid making more sounds.
As I ran to the room I saw a girl struggling to take an infected off of her. I grabbed the infected and slammed it against the wall rendering it unconscious. I grabbed the girl and helped her up. "Are you okay? - I asked. The girl nodded in a yes motion. "Wait haven't I seen you before. Aren't you the girl I bumped into yesterday afternoon and helped you pick up your stuff?"- I said as I recognized her. "Yeah..yeah I am. Thank you for helping me." - The girl said. "Maybe we should get going. - The girl said. I nodded and then we walked out of the room. "Stay behind me so you don't get any more hurt." - I said as I moved her behind me. As she nods we walked out of the room slowly and walked down a messy hallway with the intercom repeating the emergency message in the background. We began walking down the stairs slowly to avoid alerting any of the infected. As we reach the 3rd floor we run into a mishap. "Shit. It appears the stairway collapsed on this side. We will have to go through the 3rd floor and make it to the other stairway" - I said to the girl. She nods.
We entered the 3rd floor and began to walk but this one was so much messier than the 7th floor. It seemed as if more chaos occurred the closer we got to the first floor. As we kept walking I noticed something at the other end of the hall. "Hold up stay here for a second." - I told the girl. I moved a bit closer to get a better look but as I got closer I noticed what looked like people at first. "Are you guys okay? We can help you" - I said in concern. After making the call out the people turned around but only it wasn't people. It was a group of infected. "RUN!!! GO GO GO! ITS THE INFECTED!" - I shouted. We both began running towards the other side of the hall but the infected began getting closer. We kept running until we saw a room on the other side. We ran into the room and closed it quickly and began barricading the door when we heard a noise behind us. "Uhhh what is that sound? - The girl asked. As I turned around I saw a group of infected people on the other side of the room. "We gotta get the hell out of this room!!!" - I said. As I turned around I was quickly ambushed and knocked unconscious on the floor.
A few moments later I awakened to some guy and girl tending to me but I passed out a few seconds later. A few hours later I woke up in a room laying on a bed with some guy aiming a baseball bat at me. "Don't you move! Stay right there! Don't try anything!!" - The guy shouted. "Hey hey put the bat down!! I'm not infected. I'm human I swear. Put the bat down!!" - I shouted back. "Are you sure?? If so how many fingers am I holding up? Answer the damn question!!" - He ordered. "You're holding two!! Two fingers!!! - I shouted back anxiously. The guy put the bat down in relief. I looked around before noticing a bandage on my left arm. "What is this bandage doing on my arm? What the hell happened and how did I get here? I was in a hotel with a girl. What the hell am I doing here?" - I said. "Relax dude. You and the girl are fine. She's resting in the other room.
The medic guy said he found you guys laying on the floor beaten up pretty badly with other infected around you. He said you and the girl were bitten. He brought you over here to give you further treatment as you didn't show any signs of being infected. The rest of the people here were against it but he insisted. It's a miracle you aren't one of those freaks out there" - The guy said. "What the hell do you mean I was bitten and who's this guy you're talking about?" - I asked. "The medic guy. His name is Jean woods. He's in the living room if you wanna talk to him." - The guy said.
I got up and walked into the living room and saw the medic guy sitting down. "Hey looks who's up. How are you feeling? I gotta say it's a miracle that you're alive considering how badly you were beaten up" - Jean said. "What happened? - I asked. "Well we got a call on the radio channel from some dude in the hotel saying he heard two people laying on the floor badly beaten with bite marks and infected people around them. Me being a medic that I am I went over to the hotel to see the situation for myself. The rest of the group was against it but an apocalypse doesn't stop me from protecting the oath of a medic. I found you and that girl in bad shape but what was interesting was how you guys didn't turn. That's what made me bring you guys over here and patch you guys up" - Jean said. I was a bit shocked because he said we were bitten but we did not turn. "How long were we out for?" - I asked. "A couple of hours. If you guys were infected then you would have turned by now. I was scared to declare it at first but now I am certain that I know what you guys are now" - Jean said. "What are you saying?" - I asked. "You guys are immune" - He said.
I looked at my bite in shock as I realized that I survived an event that I should have not and I made it out. I was in disbelief at first but it later came to my realization that I survived and that I am alive despite the circumstances. Despite that it still didn't change the fact that this vacation went sideways and turned to shit and now my life is no longer the same after this. I felt lucky to be alive. I survived the breakout.
