After recovering the radio we once again found ourselves back at the hotel after desperately trying to get out of it but this time we were all trapped and had to think of a solution to get out of it. Last time we needed rescue but now there is nobody else but us. We are all we have now and we knew if there was any chance at escaping the hotel again we needed to be the ones to come up with the plan.
"Is everyone okay? That bastard didn't do anything to you guys right?" - Jean asked as he checked on all of us. "Other than bitch slapping me with a pistol I think I'm okay. Thanks for saving our asses. If you hadn't come we would both be dead right now." - I said as I was trying to catch my breath. "Yeah, no problem man." - Jean said as he wiped his head. "How did you know that something was up?" - Ana asked. "Well knowing how fast you guys did things in the past and that I knew for a fact that you guys hadn't gone far I just felt something was off. I knew you guys wouldn't run off so I knew you guys were in trouble." - Jean said as he sat next to the radio.
"What about the safe house? What's gonna happen with that?" - I asked. "There's no point in going back there now. We aren't leaving the hotel at least for tonight. Plus if we want any chance at getting off the resort we would have had to go through the hotel anyways. Consider it a blessing in disguise. The only thing is we are surrounded at least for now. Looks like we will be spending another night here." - Jean said. "We spent all that effort trying to avoid the hotel just to be back in it. Crazy how things work." - Ana said as she scoffed.
"When will we be able to leave?" - Halima asked. "I can't say for sure but for the night we won't be able to escape. It's too dark out there. If we try to escape we will make ourselves vulnerable and risk alerting the infected. It's best if we stay here tonight. Plus who wouldn't want to spend the night at the luxurious Waves Inn?" - Jean said sarcastically. "Yeah yeah alright. Not so sure this place is luxurious now." - Ana said with a joking remark as he sat down on the bed.
As Jean was setting up the radio on the table I went to try and turn the TV on to see if there was any potential news on the outbreak. Initially when I turned on the TV it just showed no signal or off the air for many channels but after stumbling through multiple channels I finally lucked out by finding a channel that was showing news coverage of the outbreak. "Holy shit guys!! We got one!" - I said with excitement as the others gathered around me.
All of us stood there as we listened closely to the news coverage on the outbreak. "Authorities in Banoi and nearby islands have been monitoring the situation that has unfolded on the island of Banoi. At approximately 1:21 AM last night Banoi police received calls of mass violence and attacks going on at the Waves Inn just 2 miles outside of downtown Banoi. When police arrived at the scene they witnessed people running and screaming as they were trying to get away from the resort. Witnesses say they witnessed people with blood all over them biting others and in a state of rage. When police tried to contain the situation they were unfortunately unsuccessful in trying to calm things down. Authorities say that a virus has wreaked havoc across the entire island of Banoi and have tried to establish quarantine zones but have been unsuccessful in doing so. It is estimated that more than half of the population of Banoi has been infected with this virus. Authorities have not yet figured out the origin of this virus but say that they are working hard to try and come up with a solution. Nearby islands have been inquired about the ongoing plague in Banoi and are closing their borders in an attempt to contain the virus. The Banoi government has yet to comment on the ongoing crisis and it has been rumored that the Mayor of Banoi has left the island with several other high ranking officials although those rumors have yet to be confirmed. Authorities have put out a state to those that are on the island saying to evacuate the island and if that's not possible then to seek shelter immediately. This is channel 8 reporting live in..." - the reporter says as the channel loses signal and goes off the air.
"Shit shit shit! We lost signal!" - I said as I was banging on the TV. "Well that settles it. The entire island has gone to shit and the government is nowhere near to be found." - Jean said as he sighed. "So what the hell are we supposed to do now? It's clear the government ain't gonna help us so who will?" - Ana asked as she looked for an answer. "Look, let's not panic alright. We made it this long with just the four of us. We will be okay. I will continue to try and get in contact with someone on the outside since it's the least I could do for now so let's try and relax and take a deep breath." - Jean said as he was trying to calm the group down.
Ana and Halima sat down as Jean and I were trying to think of what to do. "Well its clear we cant leave the hotel right now since the infected are still outside of the room right now. For tonight let's just rest because God knows we need it. When tomorrow comes we will figure something out." - I said. "I could totally go for some food right now." - Ana said as her stomach was grumbling. "Yeah I could do the same." - Halima said in agreement. Jean and I looked at each other as we tried to think of what to do. "I don't know if the infected are still outside the room. Plus we don't even know where to find food here to begin with." - Jean said. "We are in a luxurious hotel with a shit ton of places in here. I'm sure there has to be food here." - I said. "I meant a place that isn't full of infected." - Jean said.
"Well we can't always avoid the infected. Sometimes we have to blast through them. Plus if we don't eat something I'm gonna lose my shit." - Ana said as she was beginning to get annoyed. "I don't think we wanna deal with two hungry girls for the rest of the night. That in itself is more dangerous than the infected out there." - I said as I laughed. "He's a smart man. You should listen to him." - Halima said as she pointed in agreement. "Well what do you say Jean? Down for one more venture for the night?" - I asked. "Yeah alright. Fuck it, I'm also hungry as well and kind of catching a headache. I could use some food." - Jean said.
"Well I guess the question now is who's gonna go out there and who's staying in the room?" - Ana asked. "I will go. You guys stay here. I've sent you guys out there too many times and have put you at too much risk already. I will go. I owe it to you guys and you should relax anyways. It's been a long ass day." - Jean said. I'm going too then. It's too dangerous for you to roam around the hotel by yourself. Plus we could bring back more stuff with the both of us." - I said. "I've already sent you out too many times and you wanna go back out there again? Aren't you tired?" - Jean asked. "I wouldn't be able to rest in good conscience knowing you went out there by yourself." - I said as Halima looked at me smiling knowing that I copied Jean's words. "What a smart ass." - Jean said as he looked at both of us.
"Well alright then. Are you all geared up?" - Jean asked. "Yeah I'm set." - I said as I grabbed a walkie talkie and held the police baton in my other hand. "Alright, let's head out. We will be back shortly. While we are gone you guys stay close to the radio as we will be using that for communication." - Jean said as he looked at Ana and Halima. "Alright will do! Just remember that if anything goes sideways don't hesitate to abort and run back here. Don't want you guys to die over food, and also please bring back some chocolate if you find some! I really need that right now." - Ana said. "Yes mam. Will do." - I said as I gave a smile to Ana.
As we finished gearing up we moved the barricade away from the door and opened it slowly to take a look at the area to make sure it was clear before leaving. "Are they gone?" - I asked. "Yeah they are. The coast is clear. Let's get moving." - Jean said as he slowly walked in the dark halls of the Waves Inn. "Move the barricade back to the door when we close it." - I said. As we shut the door we could hear the sound of them barricading the door again. Then Jean and I ventured into the dark halls. Some of the lights began to flicker due to the damage that was done during the initial outbreak. The eerie sound of silence that ran across the halls felt scary and gave the feeling as if we were being watched.
"This place looks even creepier at night. It almost feels like we are being watched." - I said. "Yeah, well if you count the dozens of infected that are probably roaming this place then yeah I guess you could say that." - Jean said quietly. As we reached the other half of the hallway we looked for signs that could hint towards major areas. "Alright, so where are we supposed to find food?" - Jean asked. "We have to go towards the cafeteria but in order to get there we have to go through the lounge which is on the other side of the floor. We have to be careful though as that area is flooded with a bunch of those fuckers." - I said quietly. "Ah shit, well alright. We don't have a choice anyways. Let's get going. Stay close to me." - Jean said as he continued to walk down the hallway.
As we reached the end of the hallway we took a left towards the hallway that leads to the lounge and as we began walking down the hall we suddenly heard a low growl from nearby. "Jean, wait a second. I heard a growl noise coming from one of these rooms." - I said quietly. I went to check which room the noise was coming from and as I found the one I saw an infected looking at the window of the room. The infected seemed to be one of the former security guards of the hotel as it was wearing the uniform.
As I looked at the guard I looked closely at its utility belt and noticed that the guard still had its gun, walkie talkie and baton on him. "Jean, look at its utility belt. He still has his gun in his holster. Plus he has a walkie talkie and the baton on him." - I said quietly. "I understand the gun and the baton but what do we need another walkie talkie for?" - Jean asked. "We could use this because those walkie talkies have direct access to the channels cops and other security guards use. With luck we might be able to get a better signal or get in contact with someone. "Yeah you're right! Good call man." - Jean said. "Watch my back. I'm gonna get the stuff off of him." - I said.
I slowly walked into the room as Jean followed closely behind me. As I got closer to the infected I could hear his growl get louder. As the infected began to turn around I took my baton and hit it as hard as I could against his head to knock him out. As I hit the infected I could hear its skull crack meaning that I killed it. After taking the infected down I took its gun along with its holster, it's baton and walkie talkie. "Damn you wacked the shit out of him." - Jean said as he was surprised. "Well overkill is better than not doing enough and then it getting back up." - I said. Before getting up I checked to see if the gun had bullets and sure enough it had a full clip in it and I was also able to secure 2 extra clips the infected had.
"Great! The gun has a full clip and I also was able to find two extra clips in his pocket. We should be good to go now." - I said as I cocked back the gun. "Alright then. Let's head out" - Jean said as I followed him out of the room. As we arrived at the end of the hallway we arrived at the lounge and it was one of the messiest rooms I've ever seen. "Oh...my...God" - I said as I was in shock and horror. There were so many dead bodies on the ground and many suitcases emptied into the floor. There was blood on the wall and the front door to the hotel was broken. We even had a view of the front of the resort and what we saw was straight out of a horror movie. Jean and I walked up to the front of the door to get a better view of the front of the hotel and what we saw was horrific. There were many cars that crashed into each other, suitcases thrown everywhere, glass all over the floor, corpses lying on the floor and a shit ton of infected walking around. The bus that drops people off to the hotel was also flipped over in the roundabout. "This shit is crazy. The whole resort looks like shit. I can't even imagine how many people made it out." - Jean said as he looked. "Yeah, the resort is fucked. If the resort looks this bad then I could only imagine how the rest of the island looks." - I said in horror.
"We should probably get going. Don't wanna wait any longer. Plus we don't want any of the infected spotting us. Can't have the hotel more flooded than what it is right now." - Jean said as he turned around. We continued walking past the lounge until we saw a sign that was pointing towards the cafeteria. "Hey Jean, look at the sign!" - I said quietly. "Yeah I see it. It's gonna be close by. Lets keep walking." - Jean said as he followed the sign. A few moments later we arrived outside the cafeteria but we couldn't see anything through the doors as the lights must have gone out. "Well we are here but we have a slight issue. The lights are out so besides this flashlight we have we are going in blind." - Jean said. "Well we didn't come this far just to bitch out. Just stay close." - I said as I walked inside the cafeteria with Jean following behind.
As we walked inside the cafeteria from what we saw it was very messy but so far there wasn't any sign of infected. As we moved towards the back where the fridges were at we started searching for anything we could find. "Alright we are here." - I said on the walkie talkie to inform Halima and Ana. "That's great! Good work guys. Have you found anything yet?" - Ana asked. "Nah. Not yet but we just started looking. We will let you know if we find anything." - Jean said. "Alright copy that." - Ana said. As we kept searching the kitchen we lucked out big time.

"Jean! Back here! I found a shit ton of canned foods. There is a fuck ton of canned goods in the cabinets back here. Grab any bag or container you see and get your ass over here!" - I said as I started packing a bunch of food into a box I found on the floor. Jean rushed over with another box and started helping me pack a bunch of food into the boxes. We grabbed anything we could find. We found foods ranging from canned fruit, vegetables, canned soup, canned ravioli and much more. As I kept looking I managed to find a box of chips and also a box of chocolate that Ana wanted. "Hey Ana, I found the box of chocolate you wanted. I'm putting it in the container right now. "Really? Holy shit that's amazing. Don't damage it on the way here or an infected won't be the only thing wanting to kill your ass." - Ana said jokingly. "Yes mam." - I said as I finished loading the container.
"Alright I just finished filling the container with as much stuff as I could. Are you all done?" - I asked. "Yeah, I'm all done too." - Jean replied. "Alright. Let's head out." - I said as I lifted up the container and began walking out of the cafeteria. As soon as we exited the cafeteria we heard a gun cock back from behind us. "If I were you I would leave all of that stuff you just grabbed right here." - The voice said from behind us. "We slowly put the container on the ground and right as I tried to reach for my gun the voice cocked his gun back again. "Nah nah nah. I wouldn't try that if I were you. Put the gun on the ground too." - The voice said. Jean and I put our guns on the ground slowly as well. "Good. Now turn around nice and slow." - the voice said.
As we turned around we saw a man in a security guard uniform pointing a gun at us. "Sir please put the gun down. You don't have to do this. We don't mean you any trouble. We are just trying to get some food for our friends back in the hotel room. We aren't trying to cause any trouble." - I said. "I don't have a problem with you being out here but what I do have a problem with is you grabbing all that food. In case you don't know I haven't eaten since the outbreak began and I'm just trying to survive just like you and in order to do that I'm gonna have to take all the food you grabbed." - the security guy said. "Look we can help you. I'm a medic. If you want we can take you with us and you can stay with us. I even have a radio back in the room that we can use to contact people on the outside. It doesn't have to get like this." - Jean said as he pleaded.
"You don't understand don't you? I don't give two shits about any of you. I'm only trying to survive by myself and I'm gonna need that food. In times like this you can only worry about yourself. I can't risk being held back by anyone else. Now I'm gonna need you to give me both of those containers or I'm gonna be staring at two dead guys in a minute." - the security guard said as he placed his finger on the trigger. "Sir please don't do this. We can help you. Just let us go with the food and I promise we can get you to a safe place." - I said. "I said give me the fucking food!!!" - the security guard yelled as he was about to fire a shot. A few moments later a wave of infected arrived and tackled the guard onto the ground devouring him.
"Jean grab the gun and food and run!!" - I yelled as I grabbed the gun and food and began sprinting down the hallway. As Jean and I began sprinting the group of infected took their attention off the security guard and began chasing us. "Ana! Halima! I need you to remove the barricade and be outside the door waiting for us!" - I said on the walkie talkie as I kept sprinting. "Why? What happened? Please tell me you guys are okay!" - Ana said. "We need you at the door now! We have the food but there's a huge horde of infected running after our asses! We need you at the door now!" - I shouted as I kept sprinting.
"We have to move this barricade and open the door for them. They are about to be here but there's a huge group of infected running after them. Be prepared to fight." - Ana said to Halima as they began removing the barricade. As we approached the room we could see Ana shouting from down the hall as we saw her outside the room. As we arrived at the room Ana quickly grabbed the container off my hand and brought it inside as I waited for Jean at the door. "Jean!!! Hurry your ass up!" - I screamed as Jean was running with a group of infected right behind him. As Jean got closer I started shooting at the group of infected and managed to kill a few of them. As Jean arrived at the room Halima rushed out the door to grab the container off of his hand to bring it inside. Halima came back out as we tried to fight off the infected as they got close to the room.
I kept shooting at the horde as they got closer to the room. Halima managed to knock a few to the ground with her baton as well as Ana. "Guys there's too much of them!! We can't hold them off! We gotta get inside!!! - Ana said as she went to the door. Halima and I ran into the room as Jean kept fighting off the infected. "Jean get your ass inside. There's too much of them!" - I said. Jean ran into the room and shut the door quickly as the infected towards the room. We quickly barricaded the room but the banging continued for a few more minutes. I looked around the room and could see that everyone was visibly exhausted as we all were breathing hard.
A few minutes later the banging stopped. "Is everyone okay? Nobody got hurt? - Jean asked as I was looking at his arm. "Jean...your arm...you were bitten." - I said as I looked in horror. "Huh?" - Jean said as he looked and noticed the bite mark on his left arm. "Welp shit. I guess they finally got me. Shit...well it was bound to happen at one point." - Jean said as he sat down looking defeated. "What are we gonna do? Hes bitten! We don't know if he's gonna turn or not!" - Ana said as I could sense a feeling of panic coming from her.
"Are we sure it's safe for him to be in here after being bitten?!" - Halima said as she had a worried look on her face. "Look everyone! Calm down alright! We don't know any of that yet. We don't know anything yet so let's not jump to conclusions." - I said as I tried to calm everyone down. "No, it's okay Angel. I understand their concern and their feelings. Me being bitten is putting you all in danger. Maybe it's not a good idea for me to be in here. I wouldn't want to hurt you guys." - Jean said as he got up and walked towards the door. "Hold up. Just wait a second alright? We don't have to do any of that." - I said as I stopped Jean.
I looked around the room and could see the look on their faces as the girls were worried while Jean looked visibly defeated. "Alright, this is what we are gonna do. Jean, for now just sit in the bathroom with the door closed and chill in there for a bit, at least for now. We don't know if you will turn so just chill in there for now and we will see what happens." - I said. "Well alright, but if I start to feel weird and different then you will open that door and let me out. If that happens I don't wanna be here and hurt you guys." - Jean said. I stood there for a second as I couldn't fathom the thought of abandoning Jean. "I will take that as a yes." - Jean said as he walked into the bathroom and closed the door. "He will be alright guys. He will be fine. For now let's just relax and take a breath. He will be fine." - I repeatedly said as I was trying to give reassurance to everyone.
It's been a few hours since Jean was bitten and the girls were on the bed sleeping but I couldn't rest knowing what happened to Jean. Part of me felt like it was my fault as I said yes to him coming along with me. Maybe if I hadn't allowed him to leave maybe all of this wouldn't have happened. I kept trying to get a signal on the radio but still didn't have any luck. I began to worry since I haven't heard anything from the bathroom. I got up and went to check on Jean to see if he was okay. I opened the door slowly and saw Jean as he looked to be asleep but I wanted to check on him to be sure. A few moments later Jean opened his eyes slowly and began to stare at me. "Jean....you okay? It's been a few hours and I haven't heard from you. I wanted to see if you were okay." - I said as I was beginning to worry. A few moments later Jean jumped out of fear.
"Oh shit! Jean what the hell man!" - I said as Jean scared me. "Oh shit, I'm sorry man. I just had a nightmare. I didn't mean to scare you." - Jean said as he rubbed his head. "How are you feeling? It's been a few hours. I wanted to see how you were feeling. "Ah I feel alright. I just have a small headache but other than that I feel okay." - Jean said as he stood up and walked towards the radio. I couldn't believe it at that moment but I felt a huge sense of relief after that as it came to my realization that Jean was immune just like us. "Holy shit. That means you're immune just like us." - I said in relief. "Yeah I guess so. Well I guess I lucked out then." - Jean said as he sat down in relief. "Halima! Ana! Jean is fine. He's immune just like us! Jean is awake and he's okay!" I said as I kept tapping their shoulders to wake them up.
"Wait he is? He's fine?" - Ana said as her voice was raspy from waking up. "Yeah he's up. He's fine guys." - I said. "Well that's a relief. Also I'm sorry for doubting you and getting scared like that earlier Jean." - Halima said as she apologized. "Eh it's nothing to be sorry about. You guys have nothing to worry about. I understood your concern and I know that you guys were scared. I honestly felt scared for myself but I guess everything worked out." - Jean said as he let out a sigh in relief.
A few minutes later we began taking some food out of the bag and started eating as it had been nearly two days since any of us ate a thing. "I feel like I'm in heaven right now. It feels like I haven't eaten in forever." - Ana said as she was displaying a feeling of happiness. "Well if we hadn't put our asses on the line we wouldn't be here eating." - Jean said with a sarcastic tone. "You're welcome Jean." - Ana said as she was eating. "I'm just messing with you. This was a team effort. It took all of us. Couldn't have done it without the others." - Jean said as he applauded everyone.
As the girls finished eating they went to sleep as it was a long day and they were beginning to be sleep deprived but Jean and I couldn't go to sleep so we stood up and started talking near the window. "So the guy earlier told me some stuff that I didn't know...about how he saved you from the hotel at the beginning of the outbreak because you promised him you would help you get off the island." - I said as I brought up the topic. "Yeah..I did say that. I guess I failed on that promise right?" - Jean said as he chuckled. "Nah you didn't. You saved Ana and I when we were laying in a pool of our own blood. If it wasn't for you we would be dead." - I said. "Yeah but if it wasn't for me the radio probably would have never been taken and we would probably be at the safe house and not back at the hotel." - Jean said. "None of this is your fault. You did the right thing." - I said as I tried to reassure Jean.
"I was in a hotel room on the 4th floor when the outbreak initially started. I had no way to get out as there were too many infected surrounding my room. I couldn't get out but the guy was there....btw his name was Jack Richards. That was the name on his shirt. Anyways I couldn't get out and I heard him in the area so I called out for help." - Jean said as he was explaining his story. "What did he do?" - I asked. "At first he hesitated to help me. He said he would put himself at risk but I promised him that if he helped get out I would take him to a safe house and provide the radio that I had in my room so we could get in contact with someone on the outside for help. I even said his friend whose name was Liam Jones could come. That was the other guy that stole the radio with him. He accepted my offer and took down the group of infected so I could get out.
All of us were able to escape the hotel but when we arrived near the pools and cabin it was pure chaos. I didn't know how to get past all the people running and the infected chasing everyone but Jack knew an alternate route to get to the safe house so we took that and was able to get to the safe house safely. If it wasn't for him or his friend I'd probably be dead. As much of an asshole those guys were they still saved my life and I failed on the promise." - Jean said with disappointment on his face.
"Hey Jean. None of this is your fault. None of it is. The only reason they helped you was because they had something to benefit off of which was you. They didn't give a shit about you or any of us. Hell those bastards wanted to kill my ass when I first woke up. They even wanted to hurt Ana too. They didn't care about us. They only did it for themselves. You wanted to save lives because you're a good person. It was because you kept saving lives that all of us are still alive right now. They used the outbreak as an excuse to throw away all of their morals but you never did. You stood true to yourself and doing that means your a good person. Don't ever forget that. You saved us and we will forever be grateful for that. Don't ever let anything stop you from being true to yourself. You made the right choice." I said as I tried to give Jean some reassurance. "Yeah you're right man. I appreciate you for what you did out there. You saved my ass." - Jean said as he smiled and fist bumped me. "No problem man. We are a team and we have each other's backs." - I said as I fist bumped him back.
"There's also one more thing that Jack had mentioned to me earlier." - I said. "What is it?" - Jean asked. "He had mentioned that he was gonna take the radio to a fire department a few blocks outside of the resort so he could try getting a better signal on the radio. He was gonna do that so he could try and contact someone on the outside." - I said. "What an asshole. I had thought of that myself but with the resort basically flooded with the infected it would be a death trap trying to make it there on foot. I couldn't risk it so I stood at the safe house hoping that the signal would fix itself eventually." - Jean said. "Yeah. Well lets hope we can get the signal working somehow or else we will be stuck here." - I said.
A few hours later the sun began to rise over the island as it was the beginning of another day on the island and the second day since the outbreak. Jean and I stood up the whole night trying to improve the signal on the radio while the girls slept but we had no luck. "Hey guys. Any luck in trying to get in contact with someone?? - Ana said as she got up from bed. "Nah. We spent the rest of the night surfing through all the channels and tweaking with the settings but we had no luck.
A few moments later we heard the sound of a voice coming from the walkie talkie that we recovered from the security guard. "Hello hello?!?!? Is there anyone there? Can anyone hear me? This is one of the security guards from the Waves Inn!! Is there anyone there?!" - the voice said rapidly. "Where is that coming from?" - Jean asked. "It's coming from the walkie talkie we recovered from the security guard!" - I said excitedly as we finally got in contact with someone.
"Hello! Yes we can hear you! We can hear you loud and clear." - Jean said excitedly as he felt a sigh of relief as we were beginning to go impatient due to the signal not working. A sense of relief was felt in the room as we had spent all night desperately trying to find a signal so we could get in contact with the outside world and possibly find a way out of the resort. We finally had contact.
