Things have started to get crazy now. Not only did I survive a near death experience but I'm now just finding out that me and the girl are apparently immune to whatever the hell this virus is that has caused a paradise to descend into hell. It was an event that I was unprepared for. Out of a sudden I heard shouting from the other room that the girl was resting in. Me and Jean barged into the room wondering what the yelling was about. "What the hell is the yelling about?" I said angrily. "Don't move! I said stay the fuck down. I don't wanna do this". - another survivor in the room said angrily. "I'm fine. I'm literally fine. I'm not one of them. Just put the bat down!" - the girl said in a shouting way. "Put the bat down! Shes immune. She's not one of them. If she was she would have turned by now! Put the bat down!" - I said as I tried to calm things down. The guy puts the bat down and the girl looks at me at ease. The guy walks out of the room along with Jean and sits down in the living room. "Are you okay? You must be freaked out by all of this that just happened." - I said to the girl in a caring way. "Eh it's fine. I've dealt with worse. I do have a headache but other than that I feel okay." - she said. "By the way I never got your name. With all the running from the infected I never got the chance to ask." I said. "Oh yeah. My name is Ana Chann. You can call me Ana though." - Ana said. "Ana chann. That's a nice name." I said. As I was about to say another word Jean comes barging into the room with some news. "Guys you are gonna hear this." - Jean said in a rushed way. Ana and I got up and followed him into the living room and heard a voice on the radio. "Can anyone copy? Can anyone hear me? Is there someone there?" - the voice on the radio said. "Yes yes we can hear you. Loud and clear! - Jean said in relief. "I need help! I can't move my leg. I hurt it while running away from these crazy freaks!" - The voice said in panic. "Listen you need to tell me where you are. We can help you but we need to know where you're at." - Jean said. "I locked myself inside of a cabin near the hotel pools. I locked myself in here but there's too many of these freaks outside! I'm surrounded. I need help!" - The voice said in fear. "Listen we can help you." -Jean said before being interrupted by one of the other survivors. "I hope you're not thinking of sending one of us out there. There is no way in absolute hell I'm going out there. We barely made it out when rescuing Angel and Ana. Why would you risk doing that shit again? - The guy said. "Last time I checked it was Jean who went out there and saved our asses. If it wasn't for him none of us would be alive right now. He isn't asking for you to go out there so you can sit your ass down." I said to the guy. "You wanna go?!" - The guy says aggressively. "Hey hey calm down both of you. We haven't decided on who's gonna go out so why don't both of you calm down and quit the crap." - Ana says as she attempts to calm the situation. "Listen I know you just got out of there and barely made it but you and her are immune. You guys are the only ones that can survive this. I know it's a tall ask but maybe this person on the radio can help us. We need this right now." Jean says. At first I was hesitant to accept the task but Jean did save my ass so I guess this would be the time to pay him back. "Alright fine I will do it." I said. "Great. Take this." - He hands me a walkie talkie. "This is how we will maintain communication while you are out there. I will be here listening to you along the way. Go get the person on the radio and get back here immediately. We will talk about what to do after that." he said. "I will go too." Ana says. "Listen you don't have to. You were in much worse condition than me when he found us. I think it's better if you stay here." - I said. 'He saved my life too. You also did as well. Let me pay you guys back. I'm going" - she says. "Alright fine if you insist." I said as I reluctantly agree. "The whole time I will be on the radio so if anything happens you guys tell me." - Jean said. "Alright will do. Let's go Ana." - I said. "Wait you guys forgot one last thing." - Jean said as he tosses us two bats to use as weapons. "Good luck out there." - Jean said.
Ana and I opened the door slowly to the view of a bright sun shining over hell in paradise. The sight we saw was like something out of a horror movie. There were suitcases all over the place, drinks, food, broken chairs and dead corpses. It was honestly a terrifying sight. The beach that was once clean had a bunch of stuff thrown into it and there were even corpses floating in the water as well. It was honestly saddening to see how bad things got in the past 24 hours. "Stay close. We don't know if there are any infected nearby." - I said. She nodded and we began walking along a bloody and wrecked beach. As we kept walking all we could hear was the sounds of the waves and vultures in the area. The atmosphere and feeling of it was eerie and felt odd. How could an island that was meant to bring happiness and a safe space to get away from real life problems collapse to shit in just 24 hours? It was something that had yet to sync in and it felt odd. It didn't feel real yet this was reality and this is what we were dealing with. "So what made you visit Banoi?" - I asked. "I came here for a vacation to visit a friend that was working here. She had a summer job here and we hadn't spoken in a long time so we set up a meeting to have some drinks and the night that the infection broke out she got separated in our tracks. I haven't seen her. When I woke up this morning I went to check on her to see if she was in her room and that's when I got ambushed by an infected whatever you wanna call them. Then you came and helped me." - she said. "Oh..so when I helped you the reason you were in that room was to check on her? - I asked. "Yeah..I was but she wasn't there. I don't know where she went or if something happened to her. I was hoping to find her but after seeing how the island looks I'm having doubts I will find her." - She said. "Hey I'm sure shes out there surviving and holding herself together. Can't give up hope." - I said reassuringly. She looked at me with a small smile and it seemed as if I calmed her doubts down. "So why are you on the island? - she asked. "I came here for a vacation to myself. For as long as I could remember Banoi has been my dream vacation. I've always dreamed of coming here since I was kid but my parents could never afford it. I made it a life goal to someday come here. I just didn't expect shit to hit the fan once I got here. Even with the island being in a shitty state I still don't hate the experience I had here..if you don't count being bitten by an infected and nearly dying" - I said jokingly.
She smiled in agreement but as we kept walking we came across a group of infected just standing as if they were sleep walking. "Shh stop here. Stay still." - I said suddenly. We both looked ahead and saw a small group of infected standing there. My heart immediately started pounding as I suddenly felt a sense of fear. I could see it in Ana's face as well but at this point it was either kill or be killed. A few seconds later the wind knocked something over a can of opened beer in the distance and the sound of it alerted the infected. One of the infected began to turn around and started to look at us directly in the eyes.
"Ana...lets make sure this time we aren't the ones on the floor." - I said as I lifted my bat and gripped onto it for dear life. She nodded and quickly did the same. A few moments later the group of infected growled and began lunging towards us. Once the infected came a bit closer I swung my bat as fast as I've ever done. I felt a sense of rage in that moment which is something that I haven't felt in a long time.
As I was battling my fair share of infected I peeked over to the side and saw a side of Ana that I didn't envision being in here. The way she was battling those zombies and taking them out one by one was astonishing. I didn't envision her being this way due to her being quiet up until this point. She seemed so fierce at that moment.
After a tough moment fighting the infected we managed to take down the group and a sense of relief was felt in that moment but also reality started to set in. This was our first real intense encounter against the infected after our near death experience back at the hotel. "Are you okay? - I asked with a sense of worry and concern. "Yeah yeah I'm okay. Just a little tired and hot." - she said as she tried to slow her breathing. A few moments later another infected comes from behind her and just before it took its swing I shouted at Ana to duck. "ANA RIGHT BEHIND YOU!" - I shouted in a sudden hurry and fear. Ana had a face of confusion and turned around but before the infected took its swing I grabbed a glass bottle near me that was on the floor and threw it at the infected's head. Then I ran up to the infected and bashed its head open with the bat to make sure it was dead. At that moment I had a flashback to Ana getting hurt at the hotel and didn't want to risk her being hurt. "Shit that was close. Are you okay? It was this close to biting you on the neck." - I said with a worry on my face. "Yeah I'm okay. Thanks for making that call. You're pretty good at this" - she said with a slight smile on her face.
After that close call with the group of infected we kept walking until we approached the stairs that connect the beach to the resort. A few moments later Jean gets on the channel and contacts us if we are okay. "Are you guys good? Can you guys copy?"- Jean said with concern. "Yeah we are all good. Had a close call with a group of infected but we took them out. We just arrived at the stairs that led to the resort. I will contact you when we get to the person's location." - I said with an assuring response. "Alright copy that" - Jean replied.
As we walked to the top of the steps we approached the pool section with the cabins nearby. The view of the area was a complete 180 from what it was 24 hours ago. There were broken bottles everywhere, trash thrown on the floor, suitcases spilled out, chairs thrown everywhere and misplaced and bodies of dead people near the pools. It was a terrible view to see at a sight that was supposed to be a place of happiness and escape from the real world. "Oh my God what the hell is this? It's like a trash disposal out here and that smell...it's awful" - Ana said disturbingly while covering her nose. "Yeah you ain't kidding. It didn't look like this when I came through here last night after the initial incident." - I said with agreement. "You mean you were there when the virus broke out? How did you make it out?" - Ana asked with a shock on her face. "Yeah I was there when it happened. I was drinking at the bar when an infected person attacked a waiter and then next thing you know people started attacking each other after being bitten. It was a scene from a movie. Anyways I ran out of there and had to jump over several people just to make it out. I almost got attacked but I made it out. I ran through all of this and made it back to the hotel but the weird thing was none of it had reached the hotel yet so I didn't think much of it. Then I just passed out on my bed and called it a night." - I said as I was remembering the initial incident. "I had no idea you went through that. I was in my room already sleeping when the whole thing happened. I didn't notice anything until this morning. I didn't know you made it out of the initial attack." - Ana said with a shocked expression on her face. "Yeah well I'm here aren't I?" - I said with a slight smile on my face. Ana looked at me with a smile as we kept walking. It felt like a connection was being formed in the midst of a crisis.
A few minutes later we approached the cabins but everything seemed so quiet. It was still messy in this area but not as bad as it was at the entrance near the stairs. "Alright Jean we are near the cabins. Did the person on the radio say which cabin they are in?" - I said on the walkie talkie. "Yeah the person said they are hiding in the cabin where they serve food and drinks. The cabin is near a pool. The cabin number is 215." - Jean said. "Okay copy that." - I said with affirmation. "Just be careful though. The person said there are infected surrounding the cabin so you will have to fight them off before entering the cabin. As always be careful and best of luck." - Jean said with care.

A few moments after looking around for the cabin number we approached a group of infected surrounding a cabin with what seemed to be the numbers we were looking for. "Looks like this is it. Cabin 215 but shit we have an issue. There are one too many infected surrounding it. These don't look like the small ones either." - I said with a worry and annoyance. "Jean we have a problem here!" - I said on the walkie talkie as I was worrying and wondering what the hell to do. "Yeah I'm here. What's the issue? Did you get the person out?" - he asked with concern. "No. There are too many infected surrounding the cabin. It doesn't look like your average one either. It looks like there are 20 of them! What the hell are we supposed to do?" - I shouted with a sense of urgency. My heart was pounding and as I looked at Ana I could see she was just as worried as I am and was holding onto the bat for dear life. "Okay okay. Settle down. We can get through this. Are there any stuff like bottles or solid objects near you?" - Jean asked. "Why? How is that gonna help against fighting these infected?" - I asked as I was getting impatient. "It will help because you won't be fighting them. I want you to grab a solid object and throw it far and away from the cabin. When the object hits the ground the noise will divert the group of infected away from the cabin. Then you guys will be able to get inside the cabin and get the person out. You have to be quick though. The noise won't be able to keep their attention for long" - Jean said with a tone of assurance and direction. "Okay. Alright. Uhh I see a metal flask near me." - I said. "Okay. Throw it as far as possible away from the cabin. It should get their attention." - Jean said.
I grabbed the metal flash off the floor and aimed it as far as I could. Then I used every single inch of force and power I had in my arm to throw the flask. After throwing it the sound of it landed somewhere behind the next cabin over. Then I heard the sound of the metal flask bang against the concrete floor. The group of infected heard the sound and suddenly stopped moving. "Shh don't move or make a sound" - I said quietly to Ana as my heart was beating a million miles per hour. Ana stood really still and we just watched for a few moments as the group of infected looked around towards the direction of the flask. A few moments later the group of infected growled and began running the other direction towards the flask.
"Holy shit the plan worked. It worked Jean! They ran towards the sound!" - I said with excitement and relief as my nerves were going a million miles per hour. "That's great! Good work guys. You only have a short moment before the infected hear and spot you so you guys have to move in fast!" - Jean said. "Alright copy. We are moving in." - I said before walking towards the cabin. Ana and I approached the cabin and slowly tapped the door. The door slowly opened and made a small creaking noise. "Shh. Stay still." - I said suddenly as I didn't want to make any more noise. Ana looked at me as she was breathing hard and nodded. After a few seconds passed we walked into the cabin slowly. "Is anyone there? Anyone here? The medic sent us. The guy on the radio. We came to help you." - I said with a calm and safe tone. "Shit it's a mess here. It also smells like shit in here. This place could definitely use some house keeping" - Ana said with a disgusted face and disgusted tone. "Yeah you're not kidding" - I said in agreement.
As I was walking around I noticed the TV was on mute but the TV screen was showing the same thing that was on my TV back at the hotel. I stood there for a few seconds without moving and felt a sudden shiver down my spine. Ana looked at me and noticed how I reacted. She then grabs my arm and asks "Hey what is it? Are you okay?" I pointed my head at the TV and she looked at it with a concerned look on her face. "This is what I woke up to at the hotel this morning. It was this very same alert on my TV screen. I guess this is real and it went past the hotel." - I said with a disappointing and discouraging tone. "Yeah...I guess it is but we are here right? As long as we are alive we can make it past it. Plus you're here with me aren't I? Maybe things aren't so bad. We don't have to pay taxes anymore either! - Ana says as she smiles and chuckles a bit to cheer me up. "Yeah you're right. Lets keep looking for the person." - I replied with a slight smile on my face.
After we reached the back of the cabin we noticed a door with stuff barricading it. "Hello?? Is there anyone there? The medic on the radio sent us. We came to get you out of here. Anyone there?" - I kept asking. "Yes yes I'm back here! Get me out of here! - The sound of a girl from behind the door said. Ana and I quickly rushed to the door and moved all of the stuff out of the way before opening the door and seeing a girl sitting in the corner with a knife in her hand. "Hey it's okay. We came here to help you. Come with us. We can take you to a safe house with other survivors." - I said with reassurance and a calm tone. The woman got up and slowly walked out of the room with us. She seemed so shaken up and scared. Her body was trembling with fear and it seemed like she was in here for a long time. "Are you hurt or anything? Any injuries?" - Ana asked with care. She lifted up her arm and showed us a bite mark on her arm that was covered up with a bandage. She looked at us with fear in her eyes as if she thought we would leave her after being bitten. "It's okay. You're gonna be fine. We will take care of that back at the safe house. "How can you be sure?" - she said with a concern and stutter in her tone. We both showed our bite wounds on our arms. "We know. We can take you back and get that taken care of." - I said. She looked at us with a sigh of relief and calmness.
"We should get going. We don't have long before the infected hear and see us. Then at that point we are fucked.. Can you walk?" - I said to the girl. She nodded at us. "Alright. Lets get you back to the safe house." - I said with a caring tone. We walked outside the cabin and looked around but didn't see any sight or hints of the group of infected. " We got the person Jean. It's a girl. She's with us. She has a bite wound on her arm but it doesn't seem fresh." - I said on the walkie talkie. "Shes bitten. Ah shit alright. Is she showing any symptoms?" - Jean asked with a worry in his tone. "No shes fine. The wound isn't fresh and she seems normal. It needs to be checked out just in case though." - I said. "Alright no problem. We will give her care when you guys get here. Just get back here ASAP. I don't think that group of infected are the only ones nearby." - Jean said worryingly. "Alright copy that" - I said.
As we began to walk back to the safe house I heard a sudden growl close by. "Shhh. Stop right here and be real still and quiet" - I said in a whisper. All of us stood still for a few moments listening closely to the growl. I took a few steps forward to see where the sound was coming from but couldn't come to a conclusion. A few moments later Ana screamed at me alerting me of infected behind us. "ANGEL BEHIND US!!!!!!" - Ana screamed with panic and fear as she pointed towards their direction. "SHIT!!! RUN NOW! GO GO GO!!! - I screamed back at them. We began running as a large group of infected began sprinting after us. At that moment I ran as fast as I've ever had. I could feel my heart pounding a thousand miles per hour as I ran for my life. A few moments later the girl trips over a glass bottle on the floor. I looked behind me in panic and ran to the girl's aid. "Come on we gotta get you up! We are almost there!" - I said rapidly as the infected got closer. "Ouch..I can't. I can't get up! It hurts really badly!" - the girl said as tears ran down her eyes and in pain. "Ana keep running! Don't stop until you get to the stairs! Wait for us there! Don't stop at all!" - I said quickly and loudly as I was tending to the girl's care. "What about you guys?!?!" - She shouted back. "Don't worry about us!!! Just go!!!!" - I shouted back.
Ana hesitated for a second before continuing to run. "What are we gonna do? I can't run and it hurts so badly! They are coming closer!" - the girl said in panic and in pain. "Ah shit...okay okay. Can I pick you up? I'm gonna carry you on the way back. Can you hold onto me?" - I asked with a sense of concern. The girl nodded so I grabbed her and placed her in my arms. "Hold on tightly and don't let go no matter what". - I said. As the horde got closer I began running as fast as I could. Ana had reached the stairs by that point and kept looking back in worry and panic as she was waiting for us. "Shit where are they? Please please please!" - Ana kept pleading as time ticked. I kept running and running until I could see sight of the stairs but the horde wasn't showing any signs of slowing down.
After a few moments I reached the stairs but the horde was still sprinting after us. Ana saw us and immediately ran towards our direction. "Here!!! Both of you guys run back to the safe house and get inside immediately. "I can't leave you here!" Ana said with worry and panic in her voice. "Just go!! I don't want you guys getting hurt. Please listen and go!! I will meet you guys there!" I said with doubt and assurance. Ana hesitated and looked at me with a look on her face as if she didn't want to leave. She had a saddened look as if she was about to tear up. She then grabbed the girl and carried her down the stairs and ran towards the safe house. I looked back towards the resort and saw the horde coming even closer desperately trying to think of a way to divert their attention and make it back alive. My heart was beating and in that moment I was prepared to die and lay down my life if it meant everyone else was safe.
A few moments later Ana contacts me on the walkie talkie saying that her and the girl made it safely to the safe house. "Angel! Angel we made it back! We are here. Please hurry and get back here! Please listen to me!" - Ana said as she pleaded. At that moment when I heard that they made it back safely I was determined to lure this horde and make it out no matter what. Then I thought of a solution. "Jean. Do you copy?" - I asked as I felt a bit of confidence. "Yeah I copy. Are you okay out there? What's going on?" - he asked with concern. "Is the height from the top of the steps to the bottom tall enough to kill the infected?" - I asked. "It should be tall enough. Why? What are you planning to do?" - Jean asked. "I'm gonna lure the horde off the cliff. I'm gonna make them fall to their death." - I said. "What about you?" - he asked worryingly. "Don't worry about me." I said. I put the walkie talkie in my pocket. I then turned around and ran some distance towards the pools. As the horde was closer I made sure I ran a good distance between the pools and the edge of the stairs. I then sunk my feet into the concrete getting a good grip and got into running position. As the horde got closer I began sprinting as far as I could towards the edge of the stairs. I kept running as the horde got closer and closer. As I reached the edge of the stairs I made a quick stop and jumped over the edge of the stairs. As I jumped I began falling along with the infected.
After falling for a few moments I landed onto the roof of an abandoned drink stool. The fall hurt badly but considering that I was alive and that Ana and the girl made it back was all that matters. "Ah shit that definitely hit the spot" - I said as I was groaning. "Angel! Angel! Do you copy? Are you there?" - Jean said on the channel. I got myself off from the roof of the stool and dusted off any debris and dirt from the fall. When I got off I looked up and saw that the edge of the stairs was broken. Then I looked down and saw the bodies of the infected that fell along with me. The damage the horde took from the fall was enough to kill them. "Yeah I'm here. I'm okay and the horde of infected are taken care of." - I said with assurance and a sigh of relief. "Good job man. Good work. Now get back here before we risk any further emergencies." - Jean said.
I arrived back at the safe house a few moments later and as I walked in Ana got up and looked at me and all I could see was a huge smile on her face and a sigh of relief as she felt happy and relieved that I made it. Jean looked at me and nodded in respect as we once again made it through another near death situation. It was at that moment that truly gave us a hint as to what to expect on this island after the outbreak. Banoi was no longer the heaven on earth that we imagined when coming here. It was now Hell on Paradise.
