It was at this point that reality started to settle in. After that close call with saving the girl from Cabin 215 it was when the realization settled in. Despite us Ana and I being immune to this virus we still had a near death experience. It was also the realization that there might be more of us out there that are immune. If we are gonna survive this infection we need to know who and what we are working with. It's time we adapt to this reality that has come upon us.
An hour has passed since we rescued the girl from Cabin 215 and Jean was in the other room tending to her condition in the other room and seeing how bad the condition was. I walked up to the room to check on how she was doing. "Hey Jean, mind if I come in?" - I asked. "Yeah, come on in. I'm actually all done checking on the bite and patching it up" - He said as he stood up. "How are you feeling? I hope that fall didn't hurt you too bad." - I said as I looked at her bite mark. "I'm okay. Just glad that I'm not out there all alone. Things are really bad out there" - the girl said as she was laying in bed.
"If you don't mind me asking, why were you out there all by yourself?" - I asked. "Well when this virus broke out I was in the hotel. I actually woke up early in the morning to get some water from the lounge because I ran out. When I got out of my room everything seemed all normal on my floor at least." - She said as she explained. "What floor were you coming from?" - I asked as I was curious. "I was on the 5th floor." - she answered. I had a shocked expression as both Ana and I came from the 5th floor as well when we left except it was in much worse condition. I thought to myself that maybe the girl had more info since she left earlier.
"What? Why do you seem so surprised about that" - the girl said. "It's because Ana and I, the girl that came with me to rescue you, we both came from the 5th floor but when we left the floor was messy and it looked like most either fled or didn't make it." - I said. "Oh really? When I left the floor seemed so normal and nothing was out of the ordinary" - She replied. "Can you tell us what happened when you got to the lounge?" - Jean asked. "Yeah, sure. When I got to the lounge I grabbed some water out of the vending machine but after a few moments I heard a noise." - she said as her voice dropped a bit. "What did you hear?" - I asked. "I heard the sound of growling and coughing. It sounded as if someone was throwing up on the floor." - she said in fear.
Me and Jean looked up at each other and sighed as we had a feeling of what came next. "What did you do after that? - I asked. "I went up to the counter because that was where the sound was coming and I saw someone on their knees throwing up. It looked like the lady that was at the desk from the previous day. I asked if she was okay but I didn't get a reply. I then asked again but when I asked the second time the lady turned around and started staring at me. Her eyes were red, I could see the veins in her face pop out, there was vomit and drool coming out of her mouth and her body looked out of wack. I also heard the sound of her bones cracking. There was also a bite mark on her neck as well." - she said as I could tell there was a look of horror in her expression and eyes.
"What did you do after that?" - Jean asked. "The lady jumped over the counter and tried to attack me. She managed to get me on the floor. That's...that's when I got this bite on my arm." -she says as she lifts up her arm in disbelief and sadness. "I managed to get her off of me and I started running back to the elevator but the button wasn't working. I was confused so I tried the next elevator but like the other one it wasn't working either. I was confused and then suddenly I heard screaming from the floor upstairs. I used the stairs to check out what the sound was coming from. When I arrived on the second floor I saw someone screaming and yelling for help as there was another person all bloodied up biting him." - she said as she had a look of horror in her face. "What happened after?" - I asked. "I began running up the stairs back to my room but as I began running I heard more screams and yelling coming from the nearby floors. Once I arrived on the 5th floor I saw people running and tripping over things as people were either being attacked or running away from the bloodied people. Many of the people had blood all over them from being bitten or possibly escaping an encounter. It felt like hell there. I ran to my room and locked myself in there but it turns out I wasn't alone." - she said as we could see a look of horror in her face.
"What do you mean? Who was there?" - I asked. "There was someone like the lady at the desk biting on another person's neck...I screamed at the sight of it and then the...the infected tried to attack me. I opened the door and ran out of the room. I darted down the halls as there were other people trying to do the same...I don't think many made it out though." - she said with sadness on her face. "How did you end up in the cabin?" - Jean asked. "Once I made it out of the hotel I started running towards the pools to get as close as I could to the beach because I thought maybe it hadn't reached that area but I was wrong. Once I reached the pools and cabins it was full of the same...more people running and being bitten. I had nowhere to go. I couldn't make it past all of the infected. I looked around and noticed a cabin with its door open so I ran in and locked myself inside the furthest room from the entrance and stood in there. I stood locked in there for hours as things went to shit outside. I was hoping it was all a dream and that I would wake up but no...it felt like a nightmare. - she said as her voice broke up a bit. Once things quieted down I looked around and found a working radio in the room and that's when I contacted you guys" - she said.
At that moment I felt bad for what she went through. At least I had Ana with me but the girl went through all of this alone. "Well you are here with us and you're safe now. It's a good thing you called us when you did." - I said as I reassured her. "By the way, we never got your name." Jean said. "Oh yeah sorry, my name is Halima, Halima Hendricks." - she said. "Well it's good to meet you Halima. You're safe here now." - I said with reassurance. "I'm Angel and the medic here is Jean." - I said as I introduced ourselves. "And I'm Ana" - Ana said as she walked into the room suddenly. Halima smiled and I could tell she felt a sense of comfort as we introduced ourselves. I could tell she felt welcomed and safe. "Well we are gonna let you rest. Doesn't look like we are leaving here anytime soon." - I said as I got up. "Okay...thank you guys for helping me. I know you didn't have to go out there and do all of that." - Halima said with a smile on her face. "No problem. Rest well!" - I said as I walked out and closed the door.

I went to the other room to sit down since taking that fall wasn't exactly kind on my body when I noticed Ana sitting by herself on the bed. It seemed like she was day dreaming so I couldn't help but check on her. "Hey, you okay? Couldn't help but notice that you were day dreaming." - I said with a smile as I sat down next to her. "Yeah, yeah I'm fine. Just exhausted. Running from a large group of infected acts like its own form of exercise" - Ana said as she chuckled a bit. "Yeah you're not kidding. That fall I took earlier when running from the infected hurt like a bitch." - I said. "I was meaning to ask you about that. Are you okay?" - Ana said as she placed her hand on my lap. "Yeah, I'm fine. It wasn't too bad actually. Just a few scratches that's all. A little bit of rest and I will be all set." - I said reassuringly. "Well that's good." Ana replied as she genuinely seemed concerned.
"Listen, about earlier, I hope I didn't scare you when I told you to take off and take Halima with you. I couldn't help but notice that you had tears in your eyes and that you didn't want to leave. - I said as I was concerned about how she felt. I didn't know why but I was starting to feel conscious and really worried about Ana's feelings. "Yeah I'm okay. You scared the shit out of me when you did that. I wanted to slap the shit out of you so badly when you got back." - she said as she laughed and nudged my arm. "Yeah I get that. I had to do something though or else all of us would probably be dead right now. Plus I didn't wanna give up the spot of our safe house. - I said. "Yeah I get that. Just next time don't scare me like that again. We already died almost once. I don't want that to happen again." - she said as she had an expression on her face like she really cared about me.
I nodded and then we sat there for a few moments of silence which was soon to be interrupted by Jean barging into the room. "Guys, we have a huge problem! - Jean said as he had a worried look on his face as if something bad happened. Ana and I got up and noticed that the door to the safe house was open and the radio was gone as well. "Those bastards took the radio!." - Jean shouted as it was clear he was mad and frustrated. "What the hell do you mean they took the radio?!" - I replied. "While we were talking to Halima in the other room those bastards grabbed the fucking radio along with the last two walkie talkies and split. They took the one connection we have to the outside world!" - Jean said as he slammed his hands onto the disk clearly pissed off.
"Alright, lets calm down here Jean. They must have left something here that tells us where they went." - I said as I attempted to calm down the situation. "Hey guys! I found something. It's a note that was left on the chair." Jean and I walked towards Ana to read the note which goes as follows: "We took the radio and the walkie talkies. You didn't want to listen to us when we warned that the "immune" might turn. You insisted on trusting you but all that got us was jack shit but another supposedly immune! We took all the stuff and we left. We decided that taking things into our own hands was a better approach than sitting on our ass waiting for help. Don't bother looking for us." - the note said. "Those bastards took the only thing we had! That was our one chance at finding help! I don't know what else we could fucking do now." - Jean said as he paces around the room clearly stressed out.
"Jean, relax man! We will figure this out. Just sit down please." - I said with calmness in my voice as I wanted to bring down the tension. Ana looked at me as she was confused about what we were gonna do now that the radio was taken. As I was thinking and weighing all the options everything pointed towards having to go back out there. It was a risky move going back out there blind when we don't know where they could have possibly gone. "Ah shit, well alright. This is what we are gonna do. I'm gonna go out there and try to find these guys and get the radio back. You said it's our only hope at having a connection to the outside world, so I'm gonna go find it and bring it back. You guys stay here and watch over Halima the safehouse to make sure no infected come here." - I said as I looked at both Jean and Ana.
Ana looked at me as she was wondering why I would risk going back out there. "Your really gonna go back out there? After we nearly escaped the last time?" - Ana said as she had a confused look on her face and with worry. "We have no choice Ana. They took the radio along with the walkie talkies. If we have any chance at potentially contacting anyone on the outside then we will need that radio. I have to do this." - I said. "Well then I'm going with you." - Ana said as she grabbed the bat from the wall. "You don't have to do this Ana. I don't wanna put you in any more danger than before." - she said as she insisted. "I'm being serious Ana. You should stay here and watch over the safe house with Jean." - I said as I kept insisting that she stood.
"She's better off going with you. You're both immune to this infection so if we have any chance at getting this radio back then it's better that you both go. If anything happens I trust that you guys will have each other's back. It doubles your survival chances. Plus I won't have any connection to you guys on the outside since they took the radio so you guys are better off going together." - she said as he felt a glimpse of hope. "Yeah, you're probably right, but what about you and Halima?" - I asked. "We will be alright. I got eyes on him." - Halima said as she opened the door listening in. "How do we know that they haven't gotten far enough already?" - Jean asked. "Judging by this note it was written recently so they couldn't have gone far. The quickest way off the beach is through the resort so they must be around there." - Ana said as she was holding the note in her hand.
"Well we should get going before they get too far. Both of you watch yourselves and don't open this door under any circumstances. When we get back you will know that it's us." - I said. "Okay. Both of you watch yourselves out there and if it comes between your lives and that radio, don't hesitate to abort the mission. No radio is worth your life." - Jean said. "Alright copy that." - I said as Ana and I walked out into the sunny yet shiny hell that took over paradise.
Once again we faced a circumstance that required us to step out into a virus ridden Banoi but this time we had no choice as it was either sit around hoping those bastards come back or go out there and find them ourselves. Either way this was the situation we were in and we had no choice but to do one thing. We had to go back out to reality.
