CHAPTER 8 – TRIAL AND ERROR
----------------------------------------

At the North gate, Bunny once again found herself a nearby bench, to be used as her 'stall'. Hanging up her banner, she continued on wasting cloth with her Tailoring. The reason for mass failures wasn't bad dexterity, rather, it was mostly due to Bunny wanting to make something she didn't exactly know how to produce: A bunny girl suit.
To make clothes, a tailor has to cut the different pieces cloth into shapes, namely the front, back and sides with or without sleeves, then sewing the different sides together. Bunny had no problems with the process, but every time she reached the last seam which closed the specified shape cloth into an outfit, she would hold it against her body to test, then abandon it due to flaws. Mostly the problem lies in the flimsy chest area, falling outwards revealing everything it should cover.
Just like previously, she failed 5 pieces before players approach her for trade. This time, she came prepared, and successfully bought 10 rabbits of various sizes. Taking down her banner, she pushed her full cart towards an abandoned building nearby.
*****
The sewers, was an underground linkage, connected to every building in city, though the opening in most places weren't big enough to allow human passage. The sewer was wide enough that two man can stand comfortably side by side. In the middle, a trench of flowing debris and waste flowed slowly.
Using the information she obtained from the dark gamer site, Bunny dragged 3 of the rabbits she obtained into the sewer via an abandoned house. She didn't bring all because this was for testing: She needed to know how well the rabbits would fair against rats. Although these creatures are similar in levels, rats had home-court advantage.
First Test:
Putting some greens and roots on a food plate, at a relatively clean location, she left the rabbits to feed, while searching for a lone rat. It didn't take long to find one, and lure it back . Then the tragedy happened.
While dodging attacks and circling with a rat chasing her around the rabbits, they pointedly ignored the on going action and continue feeding. It continued until Bunny lost half her health and was forced to kill the rat.
'These stupid rabbits have zero will to fight.' was the verdict she gave. [th_zilla2.gif]
Second test:
Searching the abandoned house, Bunny found and moved a large crate beside the food plate. The rabbits are done with eating and just lazing around. This time, she made sure to force them to fight.
Similarly, she went around finding another lone rat, then luring it back. This time, she climbed onto the crate, a place the rat cannot reach. After scratching the crate for some time, the rat changed its target. The result caused Bunny to froze at her location over a minute before composing herself to do follow-ups
When the rat attacked a rabbit lazing around, it went for the throat. No status message appears, but Bunny was sure it was a critical hit as well as causing bleeding effect. The rabbit started to retaliate, but couldn't shake the rat off. The other rabbits instead of helping just turn away and continue lazing around. So, one small rat killed 3 rabbits, without suffering any wounds.
After killing the rat off, and salvaging all the corpses, including the rat, with her own hunting knife, Bunny thought:
'These stupid rabbits don't even care about their own kind.' :...noo:
Third test:
To make them fight, they must react as a team. Adding additional motivation would be a plus.

With 3 more rabbits with her beside the crate, Bunny started by configuring her party functions.
“Party?” Bunny asked one of the rabbits
'Hmm... no responds...'
Digging into her bag, she took out a carrot and wave it in-front of the same rabbit.
Rabbit has agreed to your party request
“Muahahaha... food is the key” Bunny laughed heartily to herself. [th_0v.gif]
Doing the same to the other two, Bunny then ran off to lure another lone rat. Upon returning and climbing up the large crate, she took out her Harp and started playing the song 'Courage'
'The result isn't too bad.' Bunny thought while skinning the corpse, inciting fear in her team-mates
Due to the attack style of rats, one of the rabbits died. Rats, when fighting small creatures of similar size, attacked the neck of their targets then cling on until the enemy died. It wasn't something Bunny liked, sacrificing a rabbit per rat killed wasn't efficient. She needed to think of a better way to proceed.
Fourth test:
Similar to the third, only using more rabbits. Bunny hoped that with more rabbits, they could overwhelm the rat faster.
Sadly it doesn't pay off.
Due to the size of the animals, mostly only 3 or 4 can attack the rat while it sink its teeth into one. Trying 3 more times, she concluded this method not effective either.
By now the living rabbits were inflicted with fear. Moral was low due to frequent death, lower even more due to Bunny salvaging the corpse; During the last fight, the rabbits even stopped attacking, leaving her to clean up. Seeing the results, Bunny murdered the remaining rabbits too, for their skin and meat.
:gahh:
*****
“The four test didn't yield the result I want, but I got a grasp of what the rabbits can do” Bunny said to herself while pushing her cart towards the central plaza. She needed to stock up on carrots for making teams while roaming around sorting her thoughts, as well as look for divine intervention.
For those who had forgotten, Bunny when in deep thought, like to pace around, so she took a detour walking around the city. Along a street, which was usually empty, a group of people were crowding near the front door of some important person, because there were guards stationed there.
'Whats happening?' Bunny thought.'Better go check it out.'
Upon reaching, Bunny peaked through the crowd and saw a young man sitting on the roadside craving wood, his completed products laid around him. Looking at the goods, Bunny noticed some small wooden swords and shield. This gave her an idea.
“Hi, can you make slightly bigger shields, about a feet tall.” Bunny asked.
“Yes, mam, But you have to pay extra for a customized version.” the young man replied
“How much is it?”
“Five silvers would do it.”
“I want 10 tower shield, can you do that.” Bunny asked, keeping her excitement intact.
The sculptor's eyes suddenly light up, nodded and started to select a piece of wood.
“Wait...” Bunny suddenly called out, “Can you carve them using Elvenwood, and have the base a little thicker, so they can stand upright with little support. I will pay you 10 silvers each.”
Elvenwood is the best type of timber available in shops, they are tough and durable. Also because of that, working on them was difficult. The cost of Elvenwood to make a 1-foot-high wooden shield would cost around 3 silver, Bunny added 2 more silver for workmanship.
The sculptor's eyes were practically glowing now. He took a piece of Elvenwood from his bag and started working on it. Skillfully moving hands danced around the block of wood and transformed it into a small tower shield, a lion head was emblazoned on the front.
Seeing that, Bunny asked: “Can you engrave a Rabbit instead for the rest?”
The young man just nodded and continued with his work. Soon, 10 miniature sized tower shields were handed over to Bunny, in exchange for a 1 gold. Bunny happily put them into her bag and continued her way towards the plaza.
