CHAPTER 1 - SELL AND RESTART X2
----------------------------------------
[/hr]
Alan finally decided to sell his current avatar 'Lance' for RR. It wasn't because the avatar was bad or he lacked money. He just felt that he needed a change.
At school, Alan was a model student, attentive during lessons, good grades, good at sports, leader of the student council and admired by his peers. Similarly, Lance was a lv113 Knight, with high honor, good gears, respected by both the players and NPCs in the city.
Alan wanted a more exciting life, to do things he normally wouldn't do. He didn't want his online-life to be the same as his real one. He crave for changes, he wants to unleash his alter-ego.
With that, he stone his heart.
*****
Alan currently waits at the counter of a VR-Cafe, a social meeting place for gamers, where they pay hourly charges for VR gaming. The owner, Bob, is a well known game-item trader (Dark gamer). Bob had a good reputation, he wouldn't offer discounts, but always gave a fair prices.
“How may I help you?” Bob asked
“I want to sell my RR avatar, Lv113 Knight called Lance” Alan replied
“Knight, not a common class, did you get bored being honorable?” Bob raised an eye
“Something like that...”
“Its your choice to sell, lets get down to business... Where is your avatar now in RR?”
“I am currently in Serabourg in Rosenheim.”
“That is good, You can only sell your Avatar in cities, I will meet you near the east gate.”
“Alright” Alan replied
“Remember to sell all your loot, I will only value your avatar and your gears, go use the capsule R4”
Alan followed instructions and went to the capsule listed as R4, slipping inside, he entered RR.
Inside RR, Alan first sold all his unwanted stuffs, then moved towards the east gate. The area around the gate was pretty desolated since it wasn't developed yet. After reaching the gate, it didn't take long to find Bob. The owner looked exactly the same in Real-Life, in addition, his name was visible and colored blue. A winged icon with words 'GM' floats on his forehead.
“Bob, you are a GM?”
“Not really, this is a special avatar use for trading, commissioned by the maker.” Bob replied
“So what do I do now?”
“First, check how much gold you have, I assume you want them in addition to the sales”
“I have 148 gold 24 Silver”
*Ding
Bob has requested a soul check on you
Do you agree Yes | No
“Ummm... Yes!”
With confirmation, His Status, Skills, Equipment and Inventory windows popped up in front of Lance (Alan). Bob most likely had the same windows shown as he was carefully reading the air in front of him. Sometimes items shown in his inventory or equipment window would blink indicating Bob checking on those.
After some time, Bob finally said: “Your Avatar isn't bad, but not too good either, same goes to your gear. The cape and helmet are both really worthless, but you had a good sword. Overall, I will offer 2000 gold for this avatar.”
“Only 2000? I thought it is worth more, how about 2100 gold” Alan attempted to bargain
“2000 would be my offer, with your 148 gold and change, I would pay 2149 gold”
“Make it 2150 gold and we have a deal.”
Alan didn't bother to bargain much for 2 reasons. Firstly, he had no idea how much an avatar is worth, auction sites didn't deal with avatar selling as it requires special permission. Next, he would had deleted anyway, any gain would be better then no gain... In fact, he was elated, the most Lance had at anytime was a pitiful 400 gold, 2000 is five times more.

Bob has requested a soul transfer on you.
If you accept, you will lose your avatar permanently.
Do you agree Yes | No
This was his last chance to withdraw. “Yes!” was the reply without hesitation.
You have log out of Royal Road, Do you want to reconnect?
Yes | No
*****
'Lance the knight' was sold for 2000 gold, to be passed to Alan at a later date. Alan didn't just creating a new avatar at the VR-Cafe to acquire his gold immediately because he wasn't sure what he wanted to play as. This was also the reasons why Alan sold his account to Bob instead of auctioning it.
For security reasons, Alan needed to visit the VR-Cafe again to claim his gold with his new avatar.
After bidding farewell to Bob, Alan went home for a new start.
*****
Back at home, instead of jumping straight into the capsule. Alan outlined his plan; He wanted excitement without being too serious. Mostly, he doesn't want to retain his goody-two-shoes persona. After much thought, he decided to be a frivolous prankster.
Logging back into RR, Alan named himself Loki and changed his appearance.
(Author's note: No Avatar-Creation dialog... as this is a failure, skip to chapter2 for that)
Back in RR, looking around to the familiar scene with different eyes, Loki lost himself into doing stupid things he will never be caught dead with.
First he went around flipping female's skirts, both players and NPCs. He also made papers with words like 'kick me' or 'I am an idiot' and pasting them on the back of people wearing armor. He then made pitfalls and laugh at those who fell in. He made sure the pits are filled with mud, to enhance the effects. He even went into the library and rearrange the books in random order.
Loki's greatest prank was layering the bottom of the bowls in the tavern with animal waste. It was also a prank that cause his first death, an NPC guard affected was aggroed and killed him.
From then on, Loki's life went to hell; Irritated players started to ambush him. They didn't kill him as they didn't want a PKer mark, but they chopped off his legs and left him crawling. A druid who got mud-soaked before even followed him around, healed him so he could be crippled again. Usually NPCs would report such acts to the authorities, and soldiers would intervene. In Loki's case, most of them turn a blind eye. Infamy, never underestimate its power.
In addition, prices for everything was doubled or tripled for Loki, while quest rewards were penalized; This meant Loki couldn't earn properly and had to starve. Currently he is dying from starvation.
*****
Loki was a total failure of an avatar. Alan had no choice but to delete. He felt lucky, since he still had the gold from the sale of 'Lance'.
Alan totter around his house, aimlessly wandering. He is looking for some divine innovation. The prankster was a failure, and it doesn't suit him. He needed another idea. Pacing in his room, when he passed the poster of 'his sister in a bunny girl suit', one of his photo edited masterpiece, he paused, looked back and smiled.
Hopping into the capsule, he had decided something outrageous again.
