CHAPTER 10 – INTO THE SEWERS

----------------------------------------

[/hr]

Before going into the sewers, Bunny took out some rabbit skin and started sewing.

“Going into that smelly space without preparation will be fatal, the stink will stain your clothes and hair, it will take forever to clean them out.” was her argument .

As a guy, Alan wouldn't be bothered by simple smell, but being thoroughly 'educated' by his sister, Alan knew of things only females would. He knew his sister would scream at going to somewhere smelly, therefore to make sure Angel would continue after their first sewer hunt, Alan went an extra mile.

To the audience, Bunny had always been somewhat rough around the edges, but seeing her attentive to small details, they had mentally concluded Bunny to have a feminine side.

Your tailoring level has reached beginner 2

You can now you can use a soft cloth to sew clothes.

After completing the new cloak, Bunny lift it up and admire her workmanship.

Greater Newbie Cloak

A simple cloak that came with a hood made by a beginner Tailor.

Made from rabbit fur, it gives the user a warm fuzzy feeling.

Restrictions: Level 1.

Equip: Raises Health by 50.

“Deja vu.” Bunny exclaimed. She then inspect the cloak she was currently wearing.

Greater Newbie Cloak

Durability 16/20

Defense: 2

A simple cloak that came with a hood made by a beginner Tailor.

Made from rabbit fur, it gives the user a warm fuzzy feeling.

Restrictions: Level 1.

Equip: Raises Health by 50.

Caught by Bunny's complicated expression, Angel curiously asked: “Is anything wrong?”

“Nothing, I just made a second overpowered cloak with my noobish Tailoring. It looks exactly like the first” Bunny replied while maintaining her stunned expression

Thomas who had kept quiet all this time, requested to look at both cloaks. After checking them out, he gave out a hearty laugh.

“Hahaha... seems like you stumbled on the secret to making good clothes while having a low mastery.”

“What do you mean?” Bunny asked, still confused.

“It isn't really a secret, but let me guess, you failed many pieces before doing either of these”

Seeing Bunny nodding blankly, Thomas continued.

“In the early days, when not many know about the craft professions, people tried using high-tier materials without the required skill mastery. It causes lots of failures. However the RR system saved the effort they put into those failures, compound into the next successful piece.”

“Therefore the piece you made contains all the efforts you had put into those failures. Rabbit skin is a low-tier material, it gives at most 1 stat per piece used. The cloak takes up 5 skins, and there you have a HP bonus equivalent to 5 vitality”

Bunny brightened up, understanding that she could make herself some obscenely strong newbie gear. then squinted at Thomas in suspicion. She wanted to know how Thomas knew such things, but decided it being pointless. Instead she asked: “Why doesn't everyone do that?”

“Simple reason, it's not profitable.” came the simple direct answer.

Bunny could understand the merchant's words. Tailoring proficiency rise slower for failed products, and with the cost of all the cloth she wasted, she could buy better quality items. However, as long as Bunny kept failing at making her personal bunny suit, she would use this secret technique for some gains.

Passing the newly made cloak to Angel, while donning her own, the girls made way to the abandon warehouses, where the rabbits waited.

*****

In the sewers, two cloaked figures and 20 armed rabbits gathered. Bunny first aligned 10 rabbits into a neat row holding shields, with Angel and the remaining stationed behind. With the preparation done, she went off to lure rats.

Coming back with 2 rats chasing, Bunny leaped over shield wall, leaving her pursuers charging into the wooden shields, causing two of the shield bearers tumbling from the impact. Angel reacted fast, by piercing a rat with an arrow, instantly ending its life. Three of the remaining rabbits reacted too, engaging the single rat left and killing it.

With the first battle easily won, Bunny proceed to distribute rewards; She cut a single carrot and split it into 3 parts, awarding the 3 who fought and killed. Angel got a carrot too, she just bemusedly put into her bag. The two shield bearers were given leaves of cabbages.

Seeing the effectiveness of armed critters, Bunny decided to lure more rats. From the second to fourth rounds, consisting of 4-6 rats each, they came and died quickly. By this time, the rabbits didn't even bothered with shields anymore, they counter-charged the oncoming rats with great enthusiasm. To the rabbits, each rat equals to a carrot, shared among the attackers; They instinctively split into equal sized groups to engage.

From here on, instead of luring, the group advanced forward clearing out the sewers of its inhabitants. The hunting speed was extremely fast. Gluttony should never be underestimated. When they met up with a lone rat, 20 charging rabbits went stampeding over a small rat, it was a sight to behold. To the rabbits, 1/20 of a carrot is worth the effort. Groups of up to 5 rats were instantly killed without resistance. Big groups of 10 or more rats gave more resistance, giving Angel chances to both shoot and heal.

As Bunny's carrot supply reached 200, she changed strategy. She team the rabbits up into squads of 4, the two middle ones will charge while the two at the side would flank. Rats would nimbly dodge the central charge, it was up to the flankers to intercept, while relying on the whole group to kill. Teams that coordinate well were rewarded, while those sloppy ones were given grass instead.

With better coordination, Bunny's requirements started rising. Originally, it was 1 carrot per rat, slowly it became 2 rats, then 5 rats, finally stopped at a carrot per 10 kills. All this while, edible grass were freely given for any hungry critters. However, comparing grass to carrots is like comparing stale bread to roasted meat; The rabbits rather stave to gain more fighting spirits then eat the grass.

After a few hours of killing rats, Bunny got additional bonus:

Your Animal Training Mastery has reached beginner 2

Your commands will more likely to be obeyed even without incentives.

New Skill: You have learned Raid Commander Mastery

Raid Commander Mastery

You are now able to create special party system:'Raid Group'

You can now assign 'Raid Leaders'. Raid Leaders can have their own party. All member in the Raid Leader's party are considered to be in the same Raid Group.

At current level, you can have 1 Raid Leader

With the new skill, Bunny changed her party into a raid group, assigned Angel as a Raid Leader, then put 8 rabbits under her.

“Did you just put me as a party leader” Angel asked curiously

“Yeah, you are the leader of 2 squads, 8 rabbits, but I am still the commander” Bunny replied cheerfully

While Angel was rolling her eyes, Bunny shared her new skills info.

“Show Skill to Angel, Raid Commander Mastery”

“That skill looks unique” Angel replied after carefully reading the description

“Indeed... If I am not mistake, I can have 10 more rabbits into the fold”

“Hey, don't imitate my uncle, its irritating” Angel cried

“Indeed... hahaha”

The group continued onward, wiping out the local sewer residence. Due to the change in command systems, the rabbits now split up following the two girls instead of bunching around Bunny. Angel also adapt well to her new role directing the rabbits under her, while gaining bonus leadership stats.

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

Another few more hours of hunting, the rabbits suddenly became more docile while rats less aggressive. This signified that night time has ended. In RR, during night time, monsters are more aggressive and stronger by half, they give more experience too. Losing sight of the time, the group had hunted throughout the night. Since Bunny was almost out of food, it was time to take a break, they returned to the abandon warehouse.

“That was a fun hunt, and I gain many levels, invite me again next time” Angel thanked

“It was mutually beneficial, and my rabbits leveled too” Bunny replied happily

During the hunt, they had talked about lots of things. First thing they found out was they lived in the same times zone. They also found out they had similar concepts for friends online, following the code 'Give as much as you take; Take as much as you give' Both knew of and disliked friendship abuses in games where people exploit others because 'they were friends'.

“Its late now, past 10pm in life, so I will finish up whatever I need then rest”

“Same here, Goodbye”

“Take care”

With that, they parted ways.

When Bunny was alone with the rabbits, she checked her gains

“Skills are having good progress, but I have reached 9 already, only 1 slot left. I need a class soon.”

*****

After locking the rabbits in the house and providing enough edible grass to last days, Bunny went into the center of city to look for information. Rabbit tamer didn't sound like a bad choice, but she wanted to utilize her title, hopefully gain a rare or unique class.

After asking around, Bunny found jobs like shepherds, chicken farmers, cattle ranchers, horse breeders, but no rabbit breeders/farmer/rancher/herder/whatever. Further probing shows that the current chicken farmer, Silva, being the best breeder in Serabourg.

“The best cattle rancher is Silva, the milk he produces are top quality” - Some Alchemist

“The No.1 Shepard is definitely Silva, the wool he produce are superior” - Some Tailor

“Eggs, I will only buy from Silva, big and fresh. None can match” - Some Chef

“The horses Silva raised are reserved for the royalties, they are the best” - Some Stable-hand

The inconsistency reminded Bunny of Lance's knighthood. To become a knight, Lance needed to apprentice under an old gentleman. There were 5 apprentices then, each picking different weapons; two-handed sword, sword-n-shield, mace, axe and dual-wield. During the graduation, most, including Lance were happy with their new class, but the axe using person accused their instructor.

“You are not a knight, what are you?” was what he said back then.

As anyone can tell, he was denied Knighthood, in place, he undertook 3 more days of training and emerged a Crusader, an evolved version of a Knight. Chatting with the said player, he mentioned a discrepancy others didn't notice, the old knight was proficient in all weapons... not something an NPC would have.

Looking at the current situation, Silva had skills over several related professions, which wasn't normal for an NPC. Bunny decided to take a gamble, trying for the rare class.

*****

“What are you?” Bunny asked seriously, looking at the jolly looking old man.

Silva's face started to change, all mirth were gone, replaced with a seriousness. He was also emitting an aura, screaming of danger. It took everything Bunny had to stop herself from fleeing immediately. Looking Bunny in the eye, he said:

“It has been years since anyone question about my class, but the last time someone question my race was centuries ago. Are you ready for the truth?”

“NO! I only want to know your class” Bunny cried

“Let me tell you.... wait... what did you say” Silva was somewhat stunned.

“I only want to know your job or class, because you are the only one who knows about rabbit breeding”

Silva had now reduced from an omnipotent being to an old man lamenting his past regrets. He looked so pitiful that Bunny went up, placed a hand on his shoulder and comforted.

“I am just a classless newbie now, when I get stronger, I will listen to your request.”

“Sigh! Guess I got too excited over nothing... You want a special class for rearing rabbits?”

“Yes!” Bunny nodded

“Then you will have to read the next 2 chapters”
