Description: The Galaxia 1-class looks at first glance like a decent attempt to give a carrier the ability to slug it out if things ever get to dangerous. Its weapons are decent but underpowered for its size, making it seem like an upsized battleship but without anywhere near the same amount of firepower. The ship does have a hangar that runs through its side, giving it the ability to field strike craft, but not to the levels of a dedicated carrier. Needless to say, it looks like a ship that tries to do two things at once and while it doesn’t excel at them it certainly doesn’t do a terrible job at them.
Jokingly referred to as a ‘Battlecarrier’ due to it seeming to want to be both a Battleship and Carrier at the same time yet also being neither, this ship generally fills the role of a command ship, sitting well out of harm’s way with the carriers and directing the battle from there. This makes its choice of weaponry and equipment seem more logical, as the weapons are smaller than those on a battleship and its hangar space is less than that of a carrier. In fact, the main equipment of the ship is not its weaponry but instead its impressive suite of sensors and other such devices.

The ship is substantially larger than either a carrier or battleship and has the same ‘Hyperdrive Slaver’ system that those ships have. It generally teams up with battleships and carriers, letting them pull smaller warships along while it pulls the capital ships with it. This means the carriers and battleships assigned with one of these ‘Battlecarriers’ can exit hyperspace with more reserve energy and can begin to take their roles faster than they normally would.
The Galaxia 1-class is the first of its kind, and it is assumed that any future iterations will improve on the design. Whether or not this involves upping the arsenal is anyone’s guess, but as the ship is not designated as an active combat vessel, it will likely eschew the increase in firepower and instead focus on adding various types of support to any fight it finds itself in.
As for the onboard systems, they include a powerful communication suite, a device that allows ships in the vicinity to share their shields, a potent on-board sensor array and a Minovsky Particle Dispersion module, to name just a few of the features. This ship is an armed support ship, plain and simple and while it can slug it out, it is not supposed to. If this ship is ever in the thick of it, it means things went sideways. While the Galaxia 1-class is one of the safest types of ship to be stationed on, it is also a very demanding post. Despite what you may think, being in the rear is not always sunshine and roses. Sometimes every system on the ship needs to be on and running at maximum efficiency.
Heaven help someone who thinks that just because they are out of the slugging match that they can rest easy. Always expect the unexpected and pray to whatever god you hold dear that the enemy doesn’t sneak up on you.
