Daily Life of Mobile Suit Golems: The Zeon and Federation Compromise

*This takes place between Episode 16 and 18*

Gihren was busy. Very busy. He was writing a book, but not just any book. This book was to be the first ever book written in the Arcadian Commonwealth; The Arcadian Bible. Hunched over a desk and feverishly tapping away at a typewriter, he had already written several rough drafts, and now was working on the first edition. It took testimony from every Mobile Suit Golem, including the original 1,000 of which he was a part of. How he envied Ramba Ral for being given the honor of carrying their creator to the first battle, but he knew that he had been given an even greater one by being the one to slay that bastard of a Dungeon Master. Nevertheless, HE would be the one to write this sacred text, not the newest creations of the Leader. For some reason, he and the rest of the ‘Zeon’ golems had a kind of inbuilt rivalry with the ‘Feddies’. Both sides were locked in a fierce rivalry with each other and each side sought to outdo the other in the eyes of Almighty Arkhan. Gihren and the Zeon MSGs had an initial upper hand, but the Feddies has started making great strides. They were the ones doing most of the construction of the Sky Citadel and the other floating islands. They were the ones creating aerial minefields and they were the ones equipped with Beam Weapons.

However, these initial successes on their part was nothing like the achievements the Zeon side had accomplished. The Feddies had never engaged in the level of combat that they had, and therefore even the higher rank Feddie MSGs would often find themselves in trouble unless they were supported by large numbers of allies. What aggravated Gihren and much of the Zeon side was the insistence from the Feds that they were somehow superior to the now several-year-old Zeon MSGs just because they had Beam Weapons and the elite RX-78-2 Gundams which were incorporated into Arkhan’s personal guard. Gihren had to admit that those 100 Gundams were extremely powerful, but their lack of numbers and cost was a liability. His brother, Dozle was all too keen on insisting that numbers were what counted in battle, and the fact that Arkhan had been creating massive numbers of MSGs was all the proof the Zeon side needed that Arkhan felt the same way.

While writing, Gihren received a message from one of the ‘Feddies’, a certain Johann Revil.

“What could he want, and is it important enough to make me pause my good work?”

The two ended up meeting, only for Gihren to discover that the Feddies had been working on their own version of the Holy Arcadian Bible. Initially furious at this, his anger was subdued when Revil proposed a compromise to help lower the slowly escalating animosity between the two factions.

“I am sure we both agree that if our rivalry becomes outright hostility then not only will the good work be halted, but our Lord may be caught up in it and may decide to simply ‘relive us of duty’.”

This was the reasoning that Revil had regarding cooperation. By engaging in joint training, construction and hunting the two sides might come to more of an understanding and avoid one or more of the worst possible outcomes. Gihren was reluctant, but then realized that by cooperating they could impress Arkhan much more than if they stayed the way they were. Even a partially united force would indeed allow the weaknesses of one side to be shored up by the strengths of the other. The conditions were agreed upon, and the first act of cooperation was the finishing of the Holy Arcadian Bible by both Gihren and Revil.
