Explanation of General Terms

SPECIAL stats – A being’s SPECIAL stats are increased or decreased based on actions taken or damage received. Each species has differing capabilities that either let them use ore out of a stat or less. I.E. if there was a match of Strength between a Goblin with 100 Str and a Human with 50 Str, the Human would be considered roughly twice as strong as the Goblin. If a Human was to compare his 100 Str against a Dragon with 5 Str, the Dragon would be many, many times more powerful than the human. As you can see, the individual Species’ physical capabilities limit or empower the species’ ability to express their stats.

Strength/ Str – A value attributed to physical strength (duh). Higher values mean more physical strength and the ability to lift (and endure the lifting of) heavier objects. Str (Strength) is best leveled alongside End (Endurance) for added benefit. Str increases a person’s Stamina. Str can be permanently lowered by certain injuries and diseases.

Perception/ Per – A value attributed to sensory capabilities. Higher Per means it is easier to notice small sounds that may otherwise go unnoticed as well as things that are out of the ordinary. High Per let’s people have greater chances at determining lies from truth, seeing in low-light conditions without the proper skills, spells or biological/ mechanical abilities and even determine if something is poisoned without ever having it in their mouths. Per can be permanently lowered by intense damage to sensory systems.

Endurance/ End -A value attributed to levels of health and durability. Higher levels of End means the ability to survive and possibly overcome damage that would be too great for others. High End stats are effectively like turning your body into a stronger material. While not fully uniform, the idea of a person having ‘steel skin’ is not far off, and most beings that focus on defense and/or offense train their End stat to add an extra layer of power to their defensive and offensive capabilities. End increases a being’s Stamina. End can be lowered permanently by certain diseases, wounds and drugs.

Charisma/ Cha – Charisma is a stat that is attributed to a person’s ability to convince/ control others. Public speakers, debaters, politicians, royalty and military leaders must train their Cha stat so that their words have more power than normal. With a high enough Cha stat, a human may even be able to seduce or control high-rank beings such as Dragons and other Monsters. Repeated defeats in dialogue can temporarily lower Cha, and damage to the brain or vocal systems can permanently do so.

Intelligence/ Int – Intelligence is a measure of a being’s over all ability to learn and retain information, as well as a way of determining their magical potential. High Int does not make you smarter, rather it makes you more likely to be able to become smart. High Int means faster Mana Regeneration rates and the ability to grow one’s Mana Pool faster. Int can be temporarily lowered by some drugs and by becoming drunk and can be permanently lowered by damage to the brain or to the consciousness of an individual.

Agility/ Agi – Agility is a value attributed to coordination and movement speed as well as reaction time. High Agi means better coordination, reation speed and movement speed. A high enough Agi means one can theoretically dodge a point-blank shot from a subsonic bullet, but it would be highly ill advised to try to test that. Agi will also increase a person’s Stamina. Agi can be temporarily lowered by certain drugs and by becoming over or underweight and permanently lowered when limbs are damaged beyond repair or nerves are damaged.

Luck – Luck it a value attributed to a person’s luck. There is not a lot of info about Luck and how it works or how to increase/ decrease it. What is known is that it governs the chance of good/ bad things happening to you. Often, Luck will make bad things happen so that you can profit from them later. A prime example would be Arkhan’s loss of his home village and everyone there. Without having lost his home and family, he never would have gained a Nation. Arkhan discovered a loophole that allows one to gain more of the Luck stat. Basically he raised his Per and Int high enough that he could predict which way a coin would land and then flipped the coin and called the side he predicted. While not always correct, he was correct enough of the time to raise his Luck stat though this loophole, although he had to call the side as soon as he flipped it and before it reached the apex of its flip.

Jobs – Jobs are, well, Jobs. They dictate what a person is and is not capable of learning and doing in their life. Job selection is controlled heavily by governments like the Human Kingdoms as they can be used to keep the populace from having too much power and can reward those who show loyalty or support. Some Jobs are more favored in certain areas and by certain groups than others, for instance in the Dwarven Kingdom the Job of ‘Smith’ is viewed more favorably than in the Elven Kingdom. There are few Unique Jobs, but those are normally held by Royalty, the Holy Crux Emperor, the Pope and Arkhan. The Royalty of every Nation are rumored to be descended from super-beings, so it would make sense that they would have the capabilities of their ancestors, to some degree or another.

Active Skills/ Abilities – These are powers that require a cost of Mana or Stamina, depending on if the person using the Active Skill is physical or magical.

Passive Skills/ Abilities – These are passive effects that do not require Mana or Stamina to use and are almost always on by default, although some can be toggled on or off depending on the will of the skill holder.

Health – A rough approximation of a person’s maximum amount of general damage they can take before succumbing to death.

Mana – A rough approximation of a person’s maximum amount of magical energy they have at their disposal.

Stamina – A rough approximation of a person’s maximum amount of physical energy they have at their disposal.

Age – How old a being is (Duh!).

Titles – Titles are earned through certain actions and achievements and grant certain buffs and debuffs depending on the title. It is generally believed that some sort of higher power grants titles depending upon the actions that the person getting the title has taken. A title of ‘Wolfbane’ would grant a general debuff to any canine facing the holder of the title, while the title ‘Drunkard’ would make the holder more prone to becoming a drunk. There are titles for basically everything, but to acquire them generally means going out of your way to get them.

Nullborn –A person who has no ability to use magic. Everyone has some minute magical capability, but nullborn have none. They usually die shortly after being born either due to high infant mortality rates or due to being killed due to their 'cursed' nature. Unknown to everyone aside from Arkhan, Nullborn can in fact use magic, but only under set circumstances that are nigh impossible to replicate in controllable conditions, such as having a job at birth that allows you to use special types of magic. Nullborn also have the ability to regenerate mana instantly, but since all nullborn cannot normally use magic it is useless compensation.
