#ImperialEunuch
Even if they were higher ups, he would coldly ignore them and refuse to speak with them. This brought much confusion, and some people came to dislike him because of that, but he never cared and told them that since they didn’t see him as a full functioning being, then there was no need to discuss things with them.
Children or Cubs weren’t fully integrated into society and still growing, people would treat them much differently. In his past life, although he was mature as a child, the adults around Ji Li acted like he didn’t exist when they discussed many matters, even if they involved his life.
There were moments when they decided things about him, he didn’t agree with, but they would always say that he was just a child and didn’t know better. When he came to this world, he made sure this wouldn’t happen again, so him being called a kid instantly triggered him.
He poured essence into his robe that started to shine as he said aloud **“I, Intermediate Eunuch Ji Li, Envoy of the Eunuch Ceremonial Hall”** this was the title he got upon finishing his ceremony **“Hereby declare that YOU”** he pointed at her, she shined even though he forgot her name, but it seemed that the robe understood his intention and just took it as is **“have insulted my standing acted treacherously insubordinate. Since this is a case of the military, then the military court shall decide on your punishment.”**
With a last shine of the robe, a formless lock came to be all around the woman. He sealed her connection to essence. Every essence in the empire had a tad bit of nature-affinity, and Eunuchs were able to use a part of it to do several things, such as forbid someone the access to it. In the higher stages it was less effective for various reasons, but up to the middle stages, it would work well and served as a way for the eunuchs to ensure their safety in most situations.
“The nearest Eunuch Branch received my judgement; they will come and pick her up” he said as he looked around at all the captains “You should feel ashamed for allowing her insolence to grow this far. As comrades, instead of saving and helping her, you let her go free and undermine the commands of your superior. From now on, you are on trial and with the slightest mistake, you will experience the same punishments.”
Tian Xuan looked at Ji Li, but once again, as it happened quite a few times, he was interrupted before he could even say a word. “Tian Xuan, I will leave your outpost if you wish so, since I have only come here and created a dispute. But I will say that you have been too lax. They are your subordinates first before they are your comrades, no matter how many battles you face, you are not a group of adventurers but part of the military, do not forget your position.”
Shaking his head, Xuan said solemnly “No, you are right. I have been letting things go without intervening when I should have. Not to mention that I failed as the outposts’ commander… but even as a husband, I can’t say I fulfilled my role. Ji Li, I want to ask you, could you temporarily take over command, so I can go back to the capital to stabilise my cultivation? I have neglected both my cultivation and my command; I think I spent too much time in the front and have forgotten the life outside of battles.”
Ji Li thought about it and then said “Very well, as the envoy, I have the power to allow your break, but it would be better if you still reported back to the southern military headquarters. There is no need to cause any more trouble than needed.”
Tian Xuan nodded and left the premise, depression all over his face. He had failed a lot, and he was sure that, if it wasn’t for Ji Li’s intervention, he might have let things run till a total escalation, where a lot more would have happened. It wasn’t at that point yet, but the first signs of chaos were already present, just the fact that he didn’t take a proper look at the outpost…

Ji Li as barely here for a day and he already found fault in the stairs, he and his group went ahead and build formations all around and did a lot more. The military wouldn’t fully let you down; you could make requests towards them, and they would either do it themselves or issue missions in the Eunuch Mission Hall. He had been too arrogant and thoughtless. Right now, he was more of a soldier than a commander, but this wasn’t what he wanted. He didn’t want to be a soldier that might die because of a commander’s mistake… his own subordinates nearly suffered such fate.
Looking all around at the captains, disappointment was evident in Ji Li’s face as he said “Go to your positions, two of you keep this wretch here. I don’t want to see any misbehaviour for the coming weeks. Nine of you come with me, those with good eyesight and voice.”
Ji Li went to the central command house, where Tian Xuan used to reside too. Tian Xuan was already packing his belongings in the back, while Ji Li was in the front, looking at an earth version of the outpost, many figures were seen moving about inside, all made of sand.
This was indeed a good tool, but it only worked for the inside of the outpost, not the outside. Lu Wei came with Qianyu a bit later, they all didn’t mention the solemn mood or anything to that.
“Lu Wei, you said you can produce nine water mirrors, right? Okay, make them. I want one on the north, the east and the south. They should be very central and overlooking a large space if possible, so Qianyu, you will have to find a good position for them.”
Ji Li looked at the wall and found some maps, he gave a map of the surroundings to Qianyu, who instantly looked trough them. “The remaining six will all be in the west. I want four that stretch around the western side of the outpost, and two in the far front, these should be covering the northwest and southwest mostly. Each of them will be a kilometre away from the other, while the front ones are five kilometres away. They will be sacrificed in most ways and serve as a warning.”
Qianyu nodded and took nine balls of pure water. He left and went north. A few minutes later, Lu Wei felt a pull as he produced another ball of water. He gently floated it in the air, till it expanded outwards and formed a circular mirror. In the next hour, more and more screens opened up, till there were nine screens.
On the other side, the palls were gently hovering in the air, floating upwards till they were a hundred meters up. One side of them shined brightly, as if gathering the incoming light.
Ji Li looked at the nine captains with apparent good eyesight. He told them to walk into the mirrors, which they did. The mirror engulfed their head fully, becoming a ball once more. Then, water veins stretched from the ball and formed a screen above the captains.
They stood still, but their mirrors and eyes showed rapid movement. Once all of them understood how everything worked, they stepped back and the water ball became normal again.
“You will be wardens from now on. A person controlling the balls makes the consumption much easier and the ability is strengthened, especially if they have a talent that lets them see far and wide. Alright, go back for now and prepare a second group of nine people that switch the warden post with you. We will need constant overview of all positions.”
The captains nodded solemnly and left. Although this wasn’t Ji Li’s own ability, for him to be able to bring a person with such talent with him meant that he had to be great in one way or another. This made them smile wryly, it seemed not only was he authoritative, but he also actually had the right. They knew that the Eunuch Ceremonial Hall was important to the eunuchs, yet in their mind, they thought it was a cultural thing, not that they had actual power.
Ji Li looked at Lu Wei and asked him “How are you handling the consumption?”
“The creation of them was very difficult, and generally, the passive consumption is higher than my natural intake. But at least it lessened greatly after the men entered the mirrors and looked through to the other side themselves.”
“Great, don’t worry about energy consumption. I build a concentrated room somewhere in this building, where you will be able to sleep and replenish your energy the whole time. You will… not be able to do much, but please stay attentive.”
Lu Wei nodded, and everything was soon put into practice. Ji Li used a little help from Shixuan to build the room, including himself powering some plants that absorb affinity essence and transform it back to pure essence.
There were barely any that fought in the meantime against the soldiers. It became more and more convincing that these positions were more of a training field than an actual battle outpost.
