Ji Li knew the situation he had just found himself in. His death was naturally because he roleplayed as a Eunuch, but where could he have found his liking of them? It couldn’t have been the historical nor cultural records and books – no, they were boring and barely mentioned Eunuchs at all, and most of those that were mentioned were either known for being sinful or corrupt, something he really didn’t enjoy at all, no matter how interesting people thought it was.
No, his love came from novels, drama novels to be specific, and he truly knew that his life was exactly like that… well, maybe the whole cultivation and talent stuff didn’t fit in too well with the drama novels he read, where the main character would be some female that lived in the imperial harem, their most loyal helper always being their maid and a eunuch.
He also read some other novels, although they were less to his liking, he still enjoyed them. The scene in front of him couldn’t be any more generic, something he read hundreds of times – an old man from God knows where with probably a high cultivation acting low-key in his retired life, but still showing some magical things in hopes to either find a successor or just present opportunities to the smaller generation, hoping to leave behind someone that remembered him after he passed.
Ji Li looked at the knitted silk accessories that made him realise the strength of the seller. They all were more than beautiful and were in many forms. That wouldn’t be too unusual, if he didn’t feel very small residue Essence coming from it. Even that might have been fine, as anyone with high senses could feel the essence.
But those that only looked at that would be thinking that the seller might be a cultivator with a special technique, nothing more. Ji Li focused more on the old man’s temperament. Although he acted like he didn’t care, he could understand from a few muscles in the old man’s face that he was actually paying attention at everyone that looked.
That was what you would call letting down you guard, as the old man surely knew of the stronger powers and they didn’t intervene, so all those that might be coming around were much weaker than him, making him let down his guard and not fully stop his muscles, or he was intentionally showing it.
Ji Li wanted to buy some accessories. In truth, all robes of the eunuchs would be given by the Eunuch Palace, and no one was allowed to wear something different when they are on official missions. Surely there were instances where one could change the gear privately, but such instances were truly rare, as the robe itself had many magical effects, one of the best being that it would clean itself and the body of the wearer, others such as heat and cold resistance too, and much more.
There were a lot of benefits from wearing the Robe, and the colour of the robe showed the rank of each eunuch. Additionally, to the colour, it was the ornaments that were sown into the robe that showed their rank or the palace they were associated with.
So, Ji Li could not do anything about that, but he could have small accessories, not larger and pricy ones, Silver, Gold and Emeralds reserved for the higher ranks of eunuchs, but on his level, he could decide between several minor things, such as jade and silk.
Ji Li had now decided on something made of silk, as the chance given is just too good, so he asked, “Esteemed Sir, do you also take private orders?” Shixuan and Qianyu were shocked to see their brother being so courteous but didn’t say anything at all.
The old man saw all the reactions and smiled in his head, thinking that the younger ones surely were disciplined, while the older one was attentive and knew his manners. He was satisfied, so he replied, “You may tell me your order, and I shall estimate whether it is viable.”

Ji Li was more than happy that it was possible, and since he wasn’t really hiding his temperament in the market at all, he openly smiled as he gathered his thoughts. He wanted to fully make use of the opportunity to make himself something that was his own mark.
He calmed himself down as he answered “Esteemed Sir, could you perhaps sow for me a pair of gloves? A special pair of gloves with many details, if possible.”
The old man was slightly surprised, for he could truly sow a pair of gloves, but to be asked to do something so simple… although barely anyone found this opportunity, all that did would normally ask for a whole set of something outrageous, to which the old man would nod but only produce mediocre quality gear, not putting his heart to it at all.
So, he asked “Are you sure you want a simple pair of gloves and not something grander? Maybe you want a new robe for yourself? I might make a very good one for you.”
Ji Li instantly shook his head “I appreciate esteemed sir’s suggestion, but I am very happy with my gown. Just soon I will be switching it already, but then I will get a gown I may be even prouder of. How could I wear a different robe just because it was better, when my heart lays wit this?”
Nodding, the old man said “That is right, no matter how much silver and gold was on ones robe, as long as ones heart wasn’t with it, it would but only be an empty shell that looked grand but had no worth to the wearer, making the wearer and the robe look like a joke.
Then tell me, young man, what should you pair of gloves be like? If it truly fits yours, then I shall make the pair to the best of my abilities.”
Ji Li was happy at the promise of the full abilities, so he asked, “I do not fish for something too good looking and only ask for a simple pair of white gloves and some flower marks at the beginning of the gloves, they should go under the robes and barely be visible, but when they are, then they would be the hidden gems, is that possible?”
The old man nodded and put his hands below the table of the stall, which was hidden by cloth. He used barely detectable essence and soon took out a pair of gloves, just like Ji Li had asked. They were fully white, snow white. At the beginning of the gloves, there was a single flower in the shape of five silver petals, while to the left and right were golden pearls that were also in a flower-like formation that made them appear to be flowers.
The gloves were truly very simple besides their striking white colour, as the pearls and the silver flower weren’t visible at all, if one didn’t bring out their hands fully. Ji Li was very happy and took the gloves, putting them on.
When he put them on, he felt a weird sensation, as ice energy flowed very strongly into his body. The gloves seemed to have been made so that he could perfectly and very strongly sense and absorb ice energy. The ice element was a sub-element of the water element, which was ever so present.
The gloves were transforming the water element into the ice sub-element and absorbed them really quick, Ji Li felt like he had much better access to the ice element, it also became stronger, and he had to barely use any energy to call it forth.
What surprised him even more was that the golden pearls and silver flower also gave him a weird sensation – they were gathering wood energy! Unlike the gloves that helped him transform the water energy into ice energy and make it easier to use, as well give some buffs, the wood energy was freely accessible as it was one of the main elements.
The golden pearls were gathering wood energy and saving it in themselves, he could feel that they were a kind of save – an energy reservoir he could tap in and absorb at any time. But what was even better was that the silver flower was actually a special flower – it could absorb the wood energy from the wearer of the gloves but also from the pearls to create a shining flower shield.
Ji Li couldn’t feel at all how strong the silver flower was, it could do such a great thing as to produce a shield made entirely of wood energy, but he couldn’t perceive how strong it was. The only thing he was sure about, was that it was definitely able to block everything in the Essence Awakening Stage!
These gloves were very strong, helping him mainly in Ice and Wood energy while also having an attack that he could use as much as he wanted, as long as he had enough energy, he was sure that the silver petals were actually a formation – he had also used them for several things, but not one of his formations were fighting formations, because they were much stronger and harder to get!
Now he had a pair of gloves that would surely protect him while also strengthening his innate power – he was still confused though, because the resources to make it were surely to be very precious, but silver and gold as well as silk were normally not the markings of wood and ice energy at all!
