[You tentatively request to read the jade slip first.
The martial elder accepts your request. You are sure that his tolerance is due to his belief that you have a special gift, and you feel nervous as you fear that your lies related to the role of your instincts will be discovered in the future.]
Lem’s shock continued.
Master Brightflame was treating him much better than he expected, even holding back his impatience at what Lem thought was an impertinent request.
What was the reason?
Lem’s simulated self looked awkwardly at Master Brightflame. His eyes turned away to the symbol on his crimson robes, the three overlapping triangles.
“How…”
“Put it on your forehead, and focus your mind on the point of contact.”
Lem’s simulated self quickly raised the jade slip, touching it just above his eyebrows.
He felt slightly embarrassed, but he attempted to follow Master Brightflame’s strange instructions and focus his mind.
Lem was curious.
He was anticipating the reaction of his simulated self when a rush of information flooded his perception all at once, drowning out his other sensations.
The text of the [Mountain Sitting Technique] slowly formed, presenting itself to him sequentially.

The first portion was the Introduction. It described the life of the Mountain Paths Master, the first sect master of the Mountain Paths Martial School, the inception of the [Mountain Sitting Technique], along with basic theories of cultivation.
The first sect master was originally named Uthur, born to a mortal family. A passing immortal of the Heavenly Treasure Sect took fancy to his talent and inducted him into the Heavenly Treasure Sect as an outer disciple.
At first, he made significant progress in the Initial Stage of the [Third Ascendency Path], the primary cultivation technique of the sect, and the desire to cultivate immortality was lit within him.
However, he quickly hit a bottleneck, and his position among outer disciples slowly sank.
Even after a decade of hard work, he found that he still could not fully comprehend the Initial Stage of the [Third Ascendency Path]. Even the immortal who had discovered him no longer cared for his future. Facing ostracization by his fellow disciples, he left the sect and entered the mortal world.
In those times, there was a separation between mortals and cultivators.
The mortals lived in sprawling kingdoms, while the cultivators lived in secluded, spiritual locations.
As Uthur traveled the mortal world, he constantly honed himself, starting fights with both beasts and man as he tried to comprehend the [Third Ascendency Path]. His physique was little better than a mortal’s, but his techniques were profound by comparison with the paltry martial arts of the mortal kingdoms, so he was rarely tested in his fights.
Unfortunately, even after several decades, he made little progress in his understanding. Eventually, he settled down near his parents, who were in the twilight of their lives, spending his time in quiet retirement.
After both of his parents died of natural causes, Uthur found that he no longer felt a connection to the world of mortals. At the same time, he still desperately yearned for immortality.
He retreated from public life, becoming a hermit on a remote mountain, where he spent all of his time meditating on the [Third Ascendancy Path].
In his sixties, as he was sitting, cross legged, near the peak of the mountain, he suddenly experienced enlightenment, and comprehended the laws of the world.
What he understood was not the [Third Ascendancy Path], but a new cultivation method, one that embodied the way of the mountain. It gave rise to his title, the Mountain Paths Master.
