The breeze passed over him.
[+1 Energy]
[Starting simulation…]
[-1 Energy] [-100% Simulation]
[Simulation begins.]
Lem entered the ethereal state.
[Day 1: You are abandoned in Lang Woods, waiting in place. You decide to wait for another hour before traveling. You begin practicing the [Nine Bull Fist]…]
As Lem’s body began executing punches, he paid close attention to the sensations coming from his muscles to see if he could notice any changes.
Ordinarily, he was too focused on performing each motion to make such observations, however, with the simulator, he had a separate mind that was idle.
A few minutes later, Lem gave up.
If there were changes to his musculature, they were too subtle for him to notice.
He decided to try again when he was dealing with the overflow of spiritual energy from the mushrooms.
[You realize that you have waited for an hour, and you set off in a northern direction at a slightly faster pace to make up for the time difference…
After walking for some time, you rest in place for an hour…
Once you recover, you continue traveling, resting intermittently…
A rabbit runs across the forest floor in front of you, but you are too slow to attack it…]
Lem was slightly troubled.
Because he had left at a different time, the details of the simulation were also different.
Thankfully, there had not been any significant deviations so far, but in the future, he would have to wait for longer so that he could align the timing of subsequent simulations.
[Night falls, and you hide in a partially concealed place, behind bushes. You are scared of the unknown and too awake to sleep, but you try to replicate the outward appearance of sleeping so that your behavior will be in line with that of previous simulations…]
Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
Lem was annoyed at his simulated self.
Even when the body had enough energy to be awake, it chose to close its eyes.
Now Lem was relegated back into pure darkness with just the screen for company.
Of course, he understood the reason why his simulated self chose such an action.
It was just trying to follow the steps of the previous simulation.
However, just because he understood it did not make him happy.
…
[Day 3: You feel weaker due to the evil power consuming your vitality…
While walking, you notice a rabbit ahead of you. You slow down, intending to ambush it. As it notices you, you lunge, but it runs away and your spear misses it by a narrow margin…
You eat from your rations and fall asleep…]
[Day 4: You feel weaker due to the evil power consuming your vitality…
While walking, you notice a faint pleasant feeling and grow excited. You follow your instincts and look under a fallen log, seeing a few spiritual mushrooms. You immediately begin to eat them.]
Lem was prepared to observe any changes that occurred this time while he practiced the [Nine Bull Fist] under duress.
He focused intently on the sensation of spiritual energy within his body.
At first, it appeared as a small stirring in his stomach.
And then warmth began to expand through his chest.
Swiftly, the warmth was transformed into an uncontrollable urge to move, and a feeling of being all-powerful.
Like a snowball picking up momentum down a hill, the feeling grew stronger and stronger at an increasing rate.
Lem’s simulated self finished the mushrooms, and immediately began throwing punches.
The pressure being exerted was too extreme to ignore.
[A large amount of energy overwhelms your body, and you feel as though you are about to explode. You begin to practice the [Nine Bull Fist] of your village to relieve the excess energy.]
As his body exerted itself to the fullest with every motion, Lem once again paid attention to minute changes that were occurring in his body.
It was a difficult task, as much of the sensation was being dominated by pressure and exuberance, however Lem was able to notice a few things.
In any particular area, when a motion was performed, there was a split second of pain, followed by a sense of fatigue and relief.
This sensation would disappear almost immediately, as it was replaced by the feeling of pressure and an urge to move again.
Lem suspected that the spiritual energy had a healing quality to it. Otherwise, the muscles would not be able to tolerate such abuse.
If this was the case, then it also made sense that practicing while the body was full of spiritual energy would accelerate muscle growth.
The muscles were pushed to their limits, then healed, then pushed to their limits again.
Even though Lem did not have any hard proof that he was correct, intuitively, he thought that the truth could not be very far from his speculation.
He continued to monitor the changes to his body.
